  1. LOL! Would love a video of that sometime! I'm sure you two are quite the pair!
  2. Hahaha! I loved this story. Thanks for sharing it with us!
  3. LOL! All these festive little birdies are so incredibly cute! Congrats to all of you for having such smart, sweet fids.
  4. Oh man, I LOVE the Blue Quakers! They are so absolutely gorgeous.
  5. Awww this was so darn cute! She has the cutest little voice, and speaks so well! You tell her Merry Christmas right back at her
  6. Hello, and welcome! I bet you are very excited, and I am excited for you as well. Big Kudos to the pet store you are getting your Grey from. I saw that they are 11 weeks old now, and still wont be ready until the end of January, so a big thank you to them for not rushing these babies out the door to make a quick buck. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you would like. There are so many knowledgeable Grey owners here that are happy to help.
  7. Hello Hassan, and welcome. I read through your post, and I was wondering if you had taken you grey to an Avian Vet, or to just a regular vet that sees cats, dogs ect.?
  8. Thank you to you Life Is Greyt, MarcusCAG, and Talon, as well as everyone else that has read this thread. I talked to the vet again, and had to move his appointment to bright and early on Tuesday morning. The reason is because she just found out she will be out of town on Monday, but she wants to see him when they open Tuesday morning. She said we will more than likely be there for a few hours. She wants to do a fecal on him, as well as a full blood panel to make sure she tests for everything possible, and also wants to make sure he is definitely a "he", just to make sure it is not happening because of any kind of egg binding complication. I feel very optimistic for him. I know I will do whatever possible to ensure him a long, healthy, happy life. I am already so incredibly attached to him. I have him covered now for sleep time and I can hear him making little squeeks while he is sleeping I will definitely be keeping everyone updated on his progress. I have been scouring the internet trying to find as much info on this issue that I can, and honestly there isn't much out there. I really appreciate everyone's support on this, it really has me rather upset. I know Barnaby appreciates it too. I told him earlier that I love him, his brothers and sisters love him, my husband loves him, and everyone on Grey Forums loves him, so he knows he is a very loved birdy! I know you are all rooting for Barnaby just as much as I am, so once again, thank you.
  9. Okay, I just got off the phone with the vet. They are so incredibly nice, and were so helpful. I told them about his entire history (what I know of it at least) and she said it could be related to many factors. They can be induced by poor nutrition, being egg bound, stress, bacterial infections, and showing mating behavior, among other reasons. She said it is very good that this prolapse is not out all of the time, and it could just be stress involved. I told her that he does appear to have a lot of poop around his vent area, and she suggests we do blood work on Monday to see if he may have some kind of infection. We will then proceed with an antibiotic, and I will bring him back the following week for another appointment to check on his progress. She told me to keep a close eye on him, and if the protrusion comes out and stays out we will then begin to intervene on that situation. She explained that if it does remain out, I will need to bring him in to have a couple stitches put around his vent to hold the cloaca in the body. She says this is not always successful, and he could have problems with this all of his life. So in other words, it may be a very long road for Barnaby, but I am willing to travel it with him. I am hoping we can get him nice and healthy, and soon. I suppose it will just be one step at a time. I will definitely keep everyone updated on this situation, and if anyone else reads this and has any advice, please feel free to share it with me. Thank you for your support everyone.
  10. Oh yes, I am sure. Fruity Pebbles cereal is not in fruit shapes, just round. They also have a very distinct taste and smell, plus my kids love them, so I am very familiar with them LOL. I just couldnt believe it was in there.
  11. OMG! I saw their website online when I was trying to find a good place to find a Grey! Even their website was AMAZING! You are so lucky to be able to go there Talon! Can't wait to see what you come home with for your beautiful birdies. They are going to be so excited! Also, you guys crack me up with your secret parrot spaces LOL! Whenever you get these secret birds, they will be very loved, and spoiled indeed. Anyhow Talon, you have a fantastic day at BOP, and have a safe trip there and back
  12. I have a special place in my heart for animal lovers as well. Thanks you so much for all of your kind words to me in this thread. We may lose friends along the way, but it is worth every effort, every tear, and every second. I'm sure we would both do it again in a heartbeat
  13. LOL, loved the little poem I definitely see the point that you both have. It would be wonderful in a tight space, that is for sure. I just worry about having an available corner. I am still debating this, I won't be buying my new cage until next month sometime, so I have time to think about it. It always helps to hear the advantages, and disadvantages of something before you buy, so thank you everyone.
  14. Agreed 100%. Simple rule to go by....if it is not good for us, then it is not good for our fids. It is terrible to hear that these people want to feed these poor birds such bad foods. Good for you for doing your research, and wanting what is best for the birds.

What a great idea Birdhouse! I bet it turns out really well, and your birds probably love it! I really love the skewers for making toys, and this just takes it to a whole other level.
  16. He really is quite the whistler! I loved this video of Marcus. Oh, and just for the record, one of my favorite things that Greys do is their shrill electronic noises
  17. LOL! We are all I suppose....she is a cutie though, so in this case, you are right.
  18. Aww, such a beautiful girl! Thanks for sharing your pics with us!
  19. Okay guys, so Barnaby is home with me now. Let me give you a rundown of things. We went and picked him up today. When they got there, they had him in a cockatiel cage as his travel cage. We loaded everything up, and as we did I asked the owner if he was definitely a male, and he said yes (although I would not be surprised if he is just guessing), and then I asked him the last time Barnaby had been to an avian vet, he didn't have an answer ( I doubt he has ever been) and said "He doesn't need to go to the vet". I just shrugged it off so that I could get Barnaby out of there. We drove home, Barnaby was quiet, but I noticed that his vent area was a bit dirty with poop. When we got home, I opened his "travel cage" up and he came right out...he DID NOT want to go into his big cage once I got it put together... I saw that his food in the travel cage was cockatiel seed and fruity pebbles...yes, the cereal. He had absolutely NO toys in his cage, most of the perches were far too small for him, and the rope perches looked like he had been using them since Barnaby was hatched. I hung toys for him, tried giving him a lid to a juicy juice bottle, and a straw to play with, and he acted like he had no idea what to do with it at all. Now....here is where I get really mad.... while Barnaby was on his cage door hanging out, I saw him straining. I looked under him, and noticed he has a prolapse that is poking out when he strains! I am so pissed that they did nothing about this! I am sorry for my language, but it really ticks me off! And then for him to say he doesn't need to go to the vet! It only comes out when he strains, and goes back into his body when he stops, so it is not hanging out....but there is no way they could have missed it...I mean, seriously. I had set up an appointment for him yesterday that was supposed to be for Monday, but I am going to call tomorrow and see if I can get him in tomorrow. Until then, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this issue? I mean, I have heard of the issue of prolapse, but had always heard that they would hang out of the body until they were pushed back in, or other means of replacement were done. So what is the deal with it coming out a bit, and going back in on it's own? Any advice is useful. I am so upset!!!!:mad:
  20. I will say one thing about Tiara though...she may have passed, but she has people that remember her. She left her little paw print in your heart. She made a difference even with her very short lived time on this Earth. Your hubby sounds like mine. Both good men. Even when I did bring home 2 cats instead of just the one, he just picked her up and snuggled her. I mean, she looked so terrible. He even said after they were home that he knew I wouldnt bring back just one. Smart man Titanium sounds like a little ham. It is so great that he is Tiara's brother. It is like having a little piece of her still with you as well
  21. I LOL'D AT CRINKLY! Such a weird way to say that. Loved it!
  22. I think members did a good job of answering this question in the previous thread, but I would like to contribute to this one: I will start at the beginning... whether your family dislikes, or is indifferent towards Ajax, he can sense this. Also, as far as your mom giving him kisses, that is great, but I would watch his body language very closely during this interaction. I never recommend someone put their face up to a parrot that does not know them well, for obvious reasons. Parrots are wild animals, and if they bite, it is always our fault. As far as these greys that you are watching on youtube, are you talking about them speaking? They are speaking like this because they are with their flock, Do you think the bird would speak that much (if at all) if their house was full of strange people when they took their video? This is the same with Ajax... he talks around you because he is used to you, you are his flock. When your family comes over, Ajax is going to be quiet, and not draw attention to himself. This is perfectly NATURAL behavior. As far as you asking if a Grey that is highly social is their general nature, NO...Greys tend to be one person birds, and there is nothing wrong with that, IMO. Don't expect Ajax to perform for people when they come over. If you wanted a little performing clown, you should have adopted a Too. Just let him be, and let him do what he feels comfortable doing. I mean, who cares if he entertains your family or not. He loves you, and that is all that matters. ALSO, forget a parrot playdate....I dont think they exist, plus you should never have your bird around other strange birds. This is a good way to get your bird VERY sick. I also think it might do you some good to read "The Parrots Bill Of Rights". I hope you and Ajax can come to an understanding. Good luck.
  23. Awww! I'm late because I have been sick in bed, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRICKET!
  24. Welcome to the forum! Please feel free to ask ay questions you would like! There are so many nice, knowledgeable people her that will help you however they can.
  25. I loved this video, thank you so much. I will definitely be using this recipe for my birdies.
