  1. Thanks Nancy. I know any help I will ever need can be found between here and my breeder. Things have gone well so far. She steps up and down reliably and we say "no bite" if she tries to bite, which she usually responds to. Hopefully I raise her right, but I think that she is teaching me more than I am teaching her My boyfriend and I share the taking care of her so hopefully she wont become attached to only one of us. She had her first bath since I brought her home today, and she did better than I expected. My breeder was putting her in he sink and spraying her down, so that's what I did too. She was a little mad at me, but 5 min later was over it. I now realize how thankful I am that I bought from the breeder that I did. She gave me a wonderful, well socialized baby. Now it's my job to keep her that way. 
  2. Welcome to you and your cute little fid! Keep us posted on her progress. I just brought home my baby that was hatched in August last Friday. I guarantee all the waiting is worth it.
  3. How fun!! They will love it I'm sure
  4. Look at that itty bitty red butt!!  Definitely take lots of pics cause they grow at an insane rate. Makes sense if you think about their wild origins, but it will blow your mind how much he will grow every week.
  5. I think it sounds like a great idea. I leave music on for my Chickie when I go to work. Welcome to the forum!
  6. Not sure what the behavior may mean, but I think you are doing the right thing to monitor him if he is acting unusual. Hopefully it will all work out ok.
  7. Thanks danmcq I am feeling much better now about the whole thing. I guess I kinda got a case of the "oh my god do I have any idea what I'm doing jitters" for no reason. I knew you guys would steer me back in the right direction.  She is doing really well and I couldn't be more in love with her 
  8. Oh, the tree is from manzanita habitats on eBay. He makes 2 different sizes, this is the smaller one-but it's still abbot 5 feet tall and has about 14 branches on it that you can move around and replace. It was only $199, 250 after shipping, which I thought was a steal. I liked it more than any of the other trees I saw in stores.
  9. Thanks emlee I appreciate your advice. I am definitely on guard whenever she is out and they are too. I was just shocked that she didn't even care about them at all. I spent all this time before she came home worrying about her integrating into the house and she did it herself so flawlessly that I couldn't believe it. I do appreciate your honesty and reminder though, as I don't want to become complacent and have anything happen to my darling girl. I am totally smitten with her.
  10. Grimm is too cute and 8/17 is a very special day then!!
  11. Best of luck dawl, and I'm really glad to hear that your fid is doing ok . I'm fighting the same battle you are since we have 3 dogs and a cat. Chickie isn't scared of them at all, but they are super interested in her.
  12. It's so interesting how each one is different. Chickie stands on her right leg on her tree and almost always pulls up her left. Hope your baby is ok TAGSugar.
  13. Thanks so much guys...all the feedback you have given me makes me feel much better. As with everything in life, I need to remember with her that we are just getting to really know each other and nothing means the same thing 100% of the time. I think I just got nervous. Thanks guys
  14. Congrats!! He is such a cutie!! My little chickie was that little and cute when I first met her too
  15. Thanks luvparrots...that's what I do too. I continue with what I'm doing but talk to her too. Thanks for the help
  16. Thanks Barbara2 my initial reaction from the time we've spent together so far is that things are ok. I guess I am still a nervous new parront that just doesn't want to get the signals wrong.  So far, I can tell when she's unhappy with something, but I guess I'm second guessig myself.
  17. Oohh!! I have one... I have only had Chickie a few days but...when you become obsessed with checking that ceiling fans are off...even when she is in her cage. Lol.
  18. Ha ha ha...too funny. We already do this with our dogs so we will have to see if miss Chickie picks up on it or not
  19. Ok, I feel very silly asking these in the first place, but, as I said before, I am realizing now that Chickie's home that there is still so much I don't know or understand about grey behavior. She seems to be settling in really well. However, there are a few things I have noticed and am unsure about. I have read on here about eye pinning, and bought I understood it...meaning I thought they only did it if they were upset-then I saw Chickie doing it and she didn't seem upset at all at the time other than the pinning. So, does that mean she was trying to give me a body language sign or can it happen if they're not upset??? I don't want to be misinterpreting her signs if she is trying to tell me something. Ok...the other thing is that She makes a little grumbly growl sometimes. It's not the same as her "I don't want to do what you're asking me to do" grumble...so, is the other growl the happy grumble that I have read about on here a few times? Again, I thought I understood, but now I realize I don't because I'm a little perplexed be her. . Hope these questions aren't too silly but I just want to make sure that we're speaking the same language and I'm not misinterpreting what she's trying to tell me. Thanks
  20. Such a neat new life for you and buddy thanks for sharing it.
  21. What a wonderful act taking him in and it sounds like he's lived more in the past few days than he has his whole life-poor guy. I'm sure he will come around with time as it sounds like you are taking wonderful care of him.
  22. Hi Jimmy and welcome!! I'm new to greys also, but this forum is awesome and the people here are a wealh of info. I read all the threads I could find here in the time that I was waiting for my little Chickie to come home. I can tell you that I just brought my little one home and was very worried, like you might be, about one of my dogs being too interested in her...but so far he is just in love with her and likes to sit and stare . She isn't scared of him, 75lbs, at all. Best of luck on your bird picking you and, again, welcome
