The Eclectus breeder actually lives just a few miles from me and sells the feed at ll the local shows. They also have the most amazing cement perches that they make them selves. I just had one made custom for Shadow's swing. Sorry...off topic.

I have been feeding this organic brand sold by eclectusparrot.com and I have to say I compared the ingredient list and it is the same as the TOPS.....hmmm Anyway, my birds really do not like it. The young ones, the Amazon and the Green Cheek won't touch it and I think my CAG has been eating only enough to survive when she wasn't getting enough veggies.
  3. ........and we do love our little green cheek!
  4. I am wondering if I missed something.....why does he need to wander around and explore things? I understand that you want him to be more social and accepting of change, but...if he is happy to be on a perch or on top of his cage, that is progress. Grey time can move very slowly. My Shadow is generally perfectly happy hanging out on her tree, her playstand or just on top of her cage. She is especially if she is in the screened porch/ aviary. She can spend hours just sitting in her tree talking to the wild birds. In all honesty, she is much safer and I actually prefer for her to be sitting in her tree than wandering around chewing up my cabinets or looking for trouble! LOL Enjoy this time getting to know each other.
  5. The link Jayd posted had a ton of great info. Cute little birds!

  7. Priceless! Such a sweet picture.
  8. Welcome little ones! I don't really know anything about these birds. I look forward to following your journey and learning along the way.
  9. Poor baby. I would be looking for a vet.

So sweet. Poor little guy with the shredded wings. I does sound like things are going well. Congratulations again!
  13. They are capable of living 50-60 years. Shadow, my CAG is 8, my Panama Amazon and Green cheek are just babies at 5 and 6 months.

Congratulations! Such an exciting time. Looking forward to hearing how things progress.
  15. LOL...go to love a girl who's not afraid to have an opinion!
  16. Obviously it wasn't HER fault.
  17. Speaking from experience....do you have a typical routine for putting him back in his cage? I managed to train Shadow fairly well to predict when I was going to put her "away". She has always been given free choice when she is out of her cage and I simply asked her to step up so that I could put her away....as smart as she is, she quickly learned that if I was asking for a stepup, it was likely she was going to go back to her cage. Not good for me!! I have since redirected my own behavior and now often ask for the step up randomly, sometimes simply to put her back on her playstand. Shadow is stick trained but the idea is the same. I have been practicing this technique with my Amazon too and it makes returning to the cage much easier. GOOD LUCK!
  18. That was great...thanks for sharing. So amazing what technology has allowed researchers to learn.
  19. I am sitting here crying for you. You are not alone. Treasure the memories and enjoy your other little birds as they need you as well. Thank you for sharing these clips as well.
  20. My post seems to have gone missing? I am so so very sorry. There is a lump in my chest and I can not even find the words....I know your pain is great, please know you will be missed here. Ivan will be missed dearly, may he rest in peace and may you someday find room in your heart for another. Hugs.
  21. Good job!! I hope everything works out.
  22. This is the first time all three of our birds occupied the same play stand. Someone is still not too sure.... But there is peace.
  23. Always seems like such a good idea and so much easier to buy the supplies.....reality appears as a much different picture when it come to finding the time to make the project happen!
  24. Sometimes...ok often, the hardest things in life become the most rewarding.
