Wow, what a beautiful baby! :-) But only that one picture!? :-S How stingy of you ;-) (kidding) Congrats!:-) I'm very happy you finally got your Grey:-) Enjoy! ...and of course..more pictures please:-)

I would make them wait until I got to the store. Would you rather go with your family on a vacation to some boring sh..t hole (pardon my language) for three weeks or go alone to a place of your dreams till your family waits for you at home (those three weeks)?

Eating and browsing the forum.

All the world's a stage full of calm, love, but also rage. We all have a part to play; if today it's going bad, there's always a new day. opportunity

wow, more great photos!:-) PS: I know where Malaysia is;-) It is beautiful:)

Oh man, I wrote the whole thing and then I accidentally closed the grey forum page:-S I don't know what exactly do you mean when you say splashing so I can't comment on whether is it enough or not. I didn't mean you should, in any way, force your bird. That is definitely stress. My Zak didn't care for bathing for a long time and that is/was my fault. Because of it he was nervous and overpreening. We came to our agreement (taking a bath in the livingroom -for now-) very gradually and now he enjoys bathing, doesn't preen too much and after bathing he has such a blue kind of glow on his feathers. He is very hadsome and itch free fella;-) My vet sent me a short email today that she has such a lousy internet conection that she can not open the link I sent her. She asked wether your birdie has eaten/drank, got an IV and commented that it is good you moved her out of the room where the carpet was. She asked what did Betsy recieve to ease her breathing... I said Betsy is better and that she can read the thread when she gets back (which wont be that soon).

The photos and videos you post don't stop to amaze me!:-) They are beautiful birds and beautiful playgraund. Makes me wonder where are you from, if I may ask? Your birdies seem like they're thrilled to be outside:-D You are an inspiration to me:-) Tnx for the pictures

Hi Ed! Just wanted to say... IMO your Grey will probably stop being nervous and maybe even stop plucking when she'll feel safe and secure. You'll acomplish that by not pusing her; she needs time to adjust. Just practise noticing her body language and going with her pace and you'll do fine. If you notice your presence makes her nervous, back up a bit. When you show up or come up to her offer a treet. Make her associate you with something positive when she sees you.. PS: I'm very happy she is healthy:-)

Baths are a "must do" thing. My Zak also didn't like them but in time he started to enjoy misting. I still need to get him to go into the shower cabin so I wouldn't get my whole livingroom wet..:-S Try splashing Betsy a bit in a sink and see how she reacts.. Good luck!

Well, he knows he is beautiful;-)

Happy Hatch day Ana Grey! :-D

Hello and welcome! :-) Could you please say a bit more about yourself because that too is a big factor when deciding about bringing a bird into your life, especially one like a Grey. Your habits, other pets, could you find and afford a good avian vet and checkups for both birds, are you still in school...there is so much to ask.. Greys are more like human babies than you would know. There are like a two year olds and need constant love, care and companionship. Also, they need proper food,toys,.. There is no garantee two birds will get along as you would like them to. IMO, it would be better if both of the birds would have their own cage. Why would you like two birds? If you would like a companion bird that would bond to you,IMO, it would be better to have one bird, but it is not a rule. It doesn't really matter whether you are a female or male because those baby birds are not set in their ways yet. When the birds get sexually mature there might be a change in their behavior. It doesn't have to be anything bad/unsolvable. You have to know that there will be good days and not so good, like all humans have.. There is so much to be said and ask but my feathered friend is licking my fingers so I can't type anymore..;-)

I don't think Murphy could get wet that easily. My Zak really didn't want to bathe one time so I tried taking him in the shower with his cage and after an hour of heavy showering he was still dry:-S Also, if the weather is not that good he probably found some place to stay dry so that could be the reason why there haven't been sightings. He has his instinct to protect him. People also tend to be less outside while weather is not so good so that too would explain people not reporting in.

Congrats!!!:-D I think it is great you adopted a bird that needed better and forever home:-D What name are you going to give your birdie? Can we get some pictures? pretty please:-) About that water you've been giving him...It says it has sugar in it so consumption must be limited. It is not pure coconut water. It has additives.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEy!!!! :-D I'm so happy for you all!! :-) This is the best news I read! :-) Beautiful pictures:-D I'm glad you cleaned all the apartment. How did you cleaned the carpet, tho? You didn't spray it again, right? You can always throw it away;-) Take good care of Betsy and maybe you should find (very, very soon) a good avian vet and then do a whole check up, rather than to let these vets probe her again. They are known for hiding their illnesses... Good luck and keep us posted!

Zak also had a period in which he would rather climb the bars and/or hang from some weird angle and eat/drink rather to step on it but now he is more than fine with it. Think he figured he is better off with it;-)
-
Well, this is great news!! :-) It looks like she is out of the woods! Keep doing what you are doing and hopefully she'll be herself in no time! :-) Well done!! :-D I agree with Dan. Think your medical education and background just may be what saved her. I just wanted to mention.. When Zak had some problems with breathing and saw too much of the vets (in three days) he was exhausted and only wanted to stay on his boing and sleep. I brought his food and water to him while he recovered enough to go back to the cage every time he was hungry/thirsty. Also- he slept a lot. My point is, if Betsy wants out, maybe you can provide her a safe , slightly dim enviroment where she would rest and be comfortable. It doesn't necessarily be the plexiglass cage, right? Good luck and keep us posted:-)

The nail grooming perches need to be positioned where birds spend most of the time. For example, I have just one safety pumice perch in the cage and it is in front of water and food bowls so Zak must stand on it in order to eat and drink water. So, he is grooming his nails without much thinking about it;-)
-
I just wanted to ask, why nail trimming? Couldn't you get Ziggy a grooming perch instead to avoid toweling and vet visits all together? That is what I did and I must say Zak is eternally grateful for it ;-P He was so much traumatized from toweling while at the vets that he attacked the towel in question for several months afterwards whenever he saw it.. So, I don't think forced toweling can ever be a good thing. I'm trying to reinforce presence of the towel always with something positive. It is much better now but it took time. I guess toweling Zak and he being OK with it will wait even longer, but we'll get there;-)

I'm so sorry to hear this:-(((( My vet didn't respond yet. I'm very interested in X-ray. Is there something stuck in her throat or not? IMO you are doing a good job keeping her alive with this IV. Keep it up! What about calling the breeder? Any breeder for a recommendation for an avian vet at this point(?)
-
Loool! Well, reading about your boy it makes me wanna ask you, when are you planing to sign him up for school? ;-)
-
Now I was talking to my BF and he said something that is still ringing in my head.. You really don't have much of a choice since it is Friday and no one works on weekends, right? If nothing changes really soon on your end, you only have that emergency vet to give it a shot, right? It is not a bed of roses, one way or another. Try to calm yourself down and listen to your gut- to take her to the vet or not. A positive thing is that even a regular vet knows how to give a infusion, right? Please keep us informed because this is eating me alive:-(
-
Uh, I'm so sorry to hear that your birdie is not good at all:-(((((( I even wrote to my vet but since today is the holiday in our country and she doesn't work during the weekends I don't know how else I would help. It is questionable weather my vet even works this month or she already might be on holiday. Keeping my fingers crossed. Even if she gets back to me, I know it is not much to expect since she didn't and can't see your birdie but I couldn't just sit and do nothing.. What about your birds breeder? Could you call/visit her/him? Maybe she/he knows a good vet or someone else that could help! Please check it out. And here are my two cents.. Your birdie needs to take water. Do you have a syringe? Maybe it would freak her a bit less because she was hand fed by one(?) If this surroundings (your room) are freaking her out, can you move away the carpet and get her back in the room where she was in? I know she don't want to eat but you just need to find a way! Eat with her.. Apple sauce, mashed sweet potato, eggs, some favorite fruits...anything at this point!!!!! IMO there is no point in bringing the bird to the emergency vet clinic unless they can give her infusion and only then, because they already showed they have no idea what in the world they are doing. Also, what kinda crap (pardon my language) is the policy that you can't see your bird while in their care!?! She would be left in unknown environment, all alone and without anything or anyone familiar! I don't think that would help much. -But finding someone who could get her the infusion might help. Unfortunately I'm not a vet, but to me, that sounds logical:-S I'm so sorry I can't be more of assistance to you and your bird. I'm really really hoping your birdie gets well soon!!!!:-) Fingers crossed!

So sorry Barbara for your loss:-( Tnx Dave for info!
