  1. good ideas, thanks! Ill work on that with them xmas day since its gonna rain all day!!
  2. :confused:At school my kids made Xmas bird feeders made of pinecones coated with peanut butter , rolled in bird seed. Well, they want Timmy to have one in his cage soooo bad since they "made it for him"...do yall think this will be OK for a different treat for Timmy? I think it will be fine cause timmy till prob just destroy and really only nibble a little bit....WHAT DO YALL THINK?
  3. Well, here is Timmy videos Timmy really got going GOOD once I took the camera away, GO FIGURE! Part 1: Part 2: [video=youtube;CUrpj5-Lr6E]
  4. Well guys, (Timmy is a 4 year old TAG, rehomed...for those who dont know) Tomorrow is my 2 month anniversary with Timmy!!! It seems like longer but it is what it is. Yall have seen my posts and his progress, and I am proud to say I have moved pretty far forward with this little Grey fellow! I now know what body language means and the blood I have shed proves it, but it was always my fault. Timmy has become VERY VOCAL in this short time. He is a professional mimmiker, HAHAHA, even words I dont want him to say! I also can make him step up whenever I want him to even tho he may not want to and I think thats good to have the upperhand. I no longer show fear to him and thats when things started getting good with him (deep down I am scared of the beak vs my flesh tho!!!). I sort of feel like I can look at him and know what he feels like and from there I will either let him be or bring him into another room with us. Ive ALWAYS had birds but Timmy being my first Grey has taught me alot! Not to down talk a keet or tiel, but this bird is FOR REAL and requires ALOT of attention (which he has gotten) and I dont understand how his previous owners just tucked him in the corner and didnt fool with him...freaking crazy huh.....anyway, I want to thank yall for the info and tips...YALL HAVE HELPED ME MAKE A GREAT HOME EVEN BETTER FOR HIM! Timmy has really opened up to us and its really just the beginning at this piont...Thanks again and I promise a video soon!
  5. sneaky peeps...i see !!!!!
  6. u got a pretty little girl! I had a dove once that laid eggs all the time, prob twice a month like a chicken or something and all was good! i wouldnt worry, juts dont let her have a nesting place like dave said
  7. I have a small unit thet keeps the birds/dogs room at 35% and everybody looks nice and shiny and seems healthy, so Ill keep it at that unless I see a prob
  8. cool, I can keep Timmy now, haha...I just read it aloud to the wife!
  9. My 1 year daughter has a bad boil on her bottom that the doctor had to lance and drain and it was MRSA. Could she have gotten that infection from Timmy (cage/poop/food, etc), my wife wants to know and is worried!
  10. theres only one problem with the video.....when we are right in in front of him he is mostly quiet but as soon as he cant see us he goes NUTS with his antics! Thats why Im gonna set up a camera when we leave for the day, then Ill cut out the quiet times and post a very VERBAL vid! Ill try to capture the dancing to rock-n-roll but its happened once so its gonna be a longshot.
  11. I have hundreds of pics of him, but they all look the same!! I will take some ones of him doing something cool this weekend.....Im also setting up a video camera when we arent home and Ill try to post it or put on youtube!
  12. Keep up the good attitude! I said a prayer for ya! Just keep the eyes open.....never know!
  13. "THIS JUST IN"................ Timmy just heard his forst Collective Soul song and he was DANCING!!! Bobbing his head and spreading his wings to the beat!!
  14. thanks! Timmy is just awesome!!! its crazy how much a "bird" can make us happy huh!!!!!
  15. I understand Timmy looks like any other Grey yall have seen....Im just proud of the little guy!
  16. Timmy is at it again this evening!! just nonstop talking and not much whistling. I wish I could make out everything he says cause he "mumbles" so much, and so fast, that I just cant understand some of it. I know he is just pratcing new words so I will soon know what he is getting at! ha
  17. is there a way to see who is online in the forums?
  18. :cool:Well guys, eariler this week I walked into the birds/dogs room and saw that the dogs had pooped 2 or 3 times on the floor, and they usually dont do that much...Needless to say I had a verbal reaction to the dogs and I said, in a pretty loud stren voice, "WHAT THE HELL!!!". No big deal right, I slipped the "H" word....NOT THE CASE THO! Timmy must have loved to hear me say that ONE TIME and he mastered it in about half a day...now he says that between every whistle and sound he makes!! HAHA I cant believe how smart these little guys are, just more and more every day!
  19. Great story, thanks for sharing and the pics are awesome!
  20. I have a 4 and 1 year old and I dont have any problems! I have to keep an eye out tho cause the beak WILL deliver quite the punch. My grey usually gets higher up in the cage or gets on top when the kids get too close, I guess he is avoiding getting hurt! If you ask me, the birds are like a dog, both bite and may be unpredictable at times, so just keep a sharp eye out and all will be good! Good Luck!
  21. Nice video!! Thanks for posting! I have a dream that one day Timmy will be outside on a harness but tha is far fetched at this point!! STILL UNLOADING BAGGAGE!
  22. this may not relate but i took my tiel in once and the av.vet showed me how to pluck a blood feather and have cornstarch handy (just in case) and said if it happens again just handle it and save money. ive pulled blood feathers in my keets and tiels and NEVER had a prob. i clip my birds wings and cut nails as well and my vet said only bring them in if i "really think somethings wrong"....but he knows ive been around parrots and kinda know what to look for.
  23. i actually had an old keyboard that i gave timmy to play with...NO LIE, within 5 minutes he had every key button off!!! i need something to keep him busy for more than 5 mins! haha
  24. I hate it for ya!!! I only lost the "H" key, I was lucky!
