Timmy is shy of me and a camera. He has NEVER spoke or sang a word in front of me.....wife and kids, he sings all day long, but I show my good looking face and he just freezes up and wants to be held and keeps silent till Im out of his sight! I will try to set up the camera and vid it but never know when he acts like a DJ and mixes in some andy griffith song or a cuss word or too! Timmy is a hoot and he knows it! haah

Well, I deciced to teach Timmy "Jingle Bells" early so he could learn it by Christmas. I started whistling it last Monday and today it is perfected, the whole song! He is smarter than me for sure haha. He must pratice all day while Im at work cause as soon as me or my wife walks in he starts it up right then, like he is proud to show us what he knows!!

You couldnt go wrong with "Tupac"

Im getting 2 different sized concrete perches for his cage but he only perches at night and maybe a couple times during the day. He likes to walk around on the floor or window ledge across the sunroom. He likes to be flat-footed when he is chilling out (weird huh)....maybe I should get him a pair of sneakers haha!!

It sure was a close call but Timmy is a tough dude! Ill just have my vet handle it from now on, Timmy is too cool to loose just cause I wanna save a couple bucks! Funny how something like that will scare us!!!

Well, I was trimming Timmy's nails as usual and he got scared cause my little girl screamed right behind the chair we were sitting in. He jerked and flapped and I cut his nail too far up, WAY TO FAR! He began bleeding instantly and I didnt have any steptic on hand so I applied cornstartch with no luck. After about 10 mins I wrapped him in a towel and rushed to a vet asst friend of mines house, where we then drove to the vets office (on a sunday). we finally got the bleeding to stop but Timmy was very weak and I felt so bad for the little guy. His eyes even rolled around a little and I thought it was the end for ole Timmy, but he made it and is doing fine now (5 days later) but he is weary of me and minding his own business...I dont blame him haha! He will be back to his self shortly, so Im happy everything worked out! ....just wanted to share ....and the vet wouldnt take a dime! God Bless him huh!!

It has been a while, but the ole boy is doing good! Timmy is a nonstop piece of entertainment in our household! He comes out of his cage, down the perch, across to the ladder, slides down the lamp, crawls down the table leg and "runs" across the floor to sit with the dogs in their bed! (under supervision of course) The dogs are old as heck and dont give a damn, Timmy will even "groom" the oldest one (15 yrs). I have quit cussing in my house since Timmy has PERFECTED them so! Anyway, just wanted yall to know Im still here and online every day, but recently got a new job and cant post as much as Id like.... Timmy and his family are doing GREAT, couldnt ask for more!

My bird is pulling out downy feathers....need advice
hammco replied to sydney peaches's topic in Health Room
timmy constantly pulls out downy type feathers as he grooms himself, all day long (10 a day or so)...i wouldnt worry too much unless you see a bald spot or he acts VERY different. im no vet but maybe he just has a few itchy ones he needed to get rid of! -
Well, sorry to say that I had no success this year I will take housing down during the winter and put back down next feb....i saw a few scouts, so next year i should have a colony since they saw my 30+ gourds! its amazing how they migrate from brazil to the entire US, google it, its crazy!!
-
tonight timmy wasnt 100% into it at first, but after a few mins he was pushing against my hand for more!!! he seems to like to be scratched behind/below the eyes, but he wants to see what im doing or he will pull away and click his beak. ill continue to offer and go from there...that little joker has taught me patience!
-
...tried again this morning and he ain't wanting it at all! I'll work on it again in the evenings when he is winding down.
-
Well, next week is his 6 month anniv with us and this evening he recieved his first real scratch to the neck/head!!! I was rubbing his beak as usual and he kinda leaned in so I went in for the kill and scratched the back of his head and neck and I saw his eyes roll around and close, it felt good to him...I could tell I was his first!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA For real tho, I was finally able to touch him without getting a band-aid! My wife saw all this happen and (as a non-bird person) she was happy and thought it was cute! ...........Just another day in the life of a positive rehome (from a BAD old home)
-
today I got onto him for being on the floor again, and as I was leaving the room he laughed in my wifes voice! he is such a smart a$$!!!!!!!!

Timmy could try the dog excuse, but my dog is 15 and don't have but a couple teeth left! Timmy looked at me like "uh-oh", then ran/hopped fast as he could!
