  1. I saw this earlier and wanted to post but got distracted by little ones. I have thought that I heard our baby boy sounding out words. It's almost like a baby practicing sounds. I know I've heard what might be words but they are not consistent. It really is like bringing up a human baby! We will understand what our baby is saying before strangers will pick it up.
  2. I introduced the foster child we're working with to my grey. She was too high energy for him and it wasn't a match but we'll keep at it....at my pace. I'm sensitive to the needs of human and bird and won't risk harm to either.
  3. Smart man! You can't make them do anything anymore than you can a 6 month old child. You just have to read their vibes and adjust.
  4. At least you didn't burn your fingers. LOL!
  5. I was born in Alaska and then lived in Virginia, South Carolina, England (very far south of Jillybeanz. I was near Cambridge.), New Jersey, Illinois, Virginia again and finally Ohio. When people used to ask me where I was from I would answer, "I'm not from anywhere". I also, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the international flair of this board! I love meeting up with people from all over the globe!
  6. Not to belabor it but I guess I am. A foster child who was molested by her birth father expressed some of her pain on facebook tonight. It made me think about our feathered foster children who also express their pain but don't have all the avenues that humans do. God bless these poor feathered babies and god bless those who take them in and love them. Love, love, love. That's all they need. (Fire and brimstone on that father that molested this beautiful girl. Sorry. I had to vent a bit myself.)
  7. I think I can say with conviction that it also makes burned fingers feel better. I do not recommend burning your fingers to test this.
  8. It is giving me serious ideas. I do have access to a laminate machine. I can see me pursuing this.
  9. Either the wine or the neosporin is working. I'm going with the wine because then I have an excuse to continue that therapy.
  10. I'm just trying to figure out where I could put it so it doesn't get pooped on. Maybe I need to have it laminated first.
  11. I don't allow 6:30 a.m. but then I don't get up at that time. Two days a week I have to get up a little before 7 but I don't get the birds up at that time since I don't want it to be a habit. I think the most active time is right around 4 or 5. And then he seems active right before bedtime which is 7 p.m.
  12. Both outstanding! I was intrigued by the idea of the milk bone box in the bottom of the cage. Is that a sleeping place or just a play place?
  13. If only I had some on hand. I'm going with the neosporin on the outside and the wine on the inside for now. By tomorrow, it should be pretty much gone.
  14. Oh, I was drinking wine. But it's red wine so the glass wasn't cold. I was at least smart enough to raise the plastic with my left hand. Right hand on wine glass. Left hand pressed on cold beer glass.
  15. I had not seen it so it was beneficial. Since I also deal with foster children, it made me think of the throw away children as well. That's one reason it's really, REALLY tough for me when I see families that have to rehome their birds. It's very hard for all these sensitive souls.
  16. And it had nothing to do with him directly. Since I have been researching greys, I have been becoming a better parront. So I have been providing healthier foods for all my fids. Tonight I fixed some steamed rice, peppers, green beans and carrots. I fixed them in the microwave with a piece of plastic film over the bowl. When I took it out of the microwave, the plastic was puffed up and like an IDIOT, I pulled on the edge of the film. MAJOR steam burn on two fingers. We went to dinner soon after and I sat at the table with my fingers pressed against hubby's cold glass of beer. I'm now trying to type with my fingers bandaged in gauze with Neosporin Plus under the gauze. The lengths we go to for our birds!
  17. LOL!!! Best laugh of the day!
  18. Great job Marcus and great job for you! Progress is good!!
  19. One suggestion that I have seen is to sprinkle cinnamon on the food. Hopefully he likes cinnamon.
  20. I found a breeder in my state but it was four hours away. I never met my bird before he came home and he was shipped. I met him for the first time when my husband brought him home from the airport. Neo arrived fine and in good spirits. Within the hour he was climbing around his new cage and eating. We have had him home 4 weeks now and he is wonderful!
  21. Thanks for the warning and lesson learned. I have my bird cages by windows. I need to remember to close the blinds when I leave the house.
  22. I look forward to the day that I can trust my dogs with my birds. Right now I'm still scared to death that one bite will be the end of my bird.
  23. That is very weird! I swear I'm not making this up! LOL! There is a larger version of the avatar picture, a picture of the cage, the playstand, and the homemade perch.
  24. Maybe try refreshing? I see them all now. 4 pictures.
