  1. Yep. You're still there in my heart. I look forward to these updates.
  2. My experience with hamsters is that they like to escape. You need to make sure that the cage is absolutely, positively escape proof.
  3. I have only had my grey for two weeks and he is only four months old but so far I can find no cons.

    garlic ok?

I have read that a little bit of garlic is good for parrots. I have also read that garlic can cause anemia in parrots. So my answer would be I don't know.
  5. Thank you! I have only had him for two weeks but so far he has exceeded all my expectations. He was even much nicer during his bath today. (Or maybe I was nicer since I wasn't so nervous the second time around so he was nicer.) Side note...I lived in England for four years when I was young. I LOVED it! Great country, great people. I loved the way they said my name. My family called me "Barbie" and it sounded like "Bobbie" when the British said it. I loved it!
  6. Happy birdday to you Happy birdday to you Happy birdday dear Talon Happy birdday to you! And many mooooooore!
  7. What do people in Alaska do?
  8. It's our secret, as long as you don't tell these Cincinnati people that I'm a Steeler's fan.
  9. Wonderful, wonderful news! I know you have to feel good because I feel good and he's not even my bird!
  10. I just wanted to add a bit more in way of introduction. I was an educator for 35 years. I was an art teacher for 23 years teaching 7-12 grade. (12 years old to 18 or 19 for those not familiar with our grading system in the US) The last 12 years I was the technology coordinator for the district taking care of all the computers, printers, networks and sometimes even the phones. My husband also worked for the same school district (that is where we met) and we both retired this past May. I always wanted a Grey but knew that the demanding hours of our work days wouldn't fit in with the needs of a Grey. So he is my retirement gift to myself. We have 5 grown children (the older 3 are children from hubby's first marriage and we have two girls that we had together) Right now we have 12 grandchildren ranging in age from 19 yrs down to 4 months. The youngest 6 are actually 4, 2, 2, 1, 5 months, 4 months. (All girls except the poor 4 mo. old!) So it's busy and has only slowed down a little with retirement! It's a wonderful life!!!
  11. Actually I was at a Cincinnati Bearcats game. (I like college football better than professional. The tickets and the beer are cheaper.)
  12. The one that I have in the door is blue. (You can see it in the picture of Neo in my banner below.) The one in the back is green. So much of that depends on the individual bird.
  13. Wonderful to meet you tinaboom! I'm glad you got your own name so you both can post as yourselves.
  14. LOL! Oh, the unexpected expenses these birds bring!
  15. Every bird is different so sometimes I think it is trial and error. I got two of the sandy perches. I put one all the way in the back corner of the cage and higher than any other perch. For the first day Neo ignored it. The second day he started using if for his sleeping perch. Two days later I put the other one on the door so that it is an inside perch when the door is closed and an outside perch when the door is open. He shied away from it for a day but now uses it to stand on and play with a nearby toy and sometimes as a daytime sleeping perch. Neo is only 4 months old so he may be a little faster in terms of getting used to new things. One day has been pretty consistent for everything.
  16. Thank you for all of the replies. The grates are back in. I did not have the grate in Neo's cage and thought it unnecessary since he wasn't going to the bottom of his cage. Now that it is in, he is going to the bottom of his cage. As the only down side is having something else to clean, I'll keep them in.
  17. Unfortunately the clock change will make it worse. When Sully thinks that it is 7 o'clock, it will really only be six o'clock. (Really sorry to be the bearer of such bad news!)
  18. Watching a really creepy Netflix movie! (30 Days of Night) I don't know why I do this to myself. I HATE violent movies!
  19. I love the continuing good news!
  20. That is the question... I have seen this discussed before but I am curious what the majority feel about this. Do you leave the grate in your bird's cage(s) or take it out? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?
  21. So far we've been very fortunate. Our older birds don't start making noise until they hear someone up and moving around. Since Neo is still a baby, we are not hearing him in the morning. I don't know if we can count on that continuing once he gets older.
