What's the point of Spending Money on Toys!!
Elvenking replied to JillyBeanz's topic in Homemade Toys & Playstands
I too am the guy who pays 16 dollars for that mobile thingie with plastic and wood parts that probably amount to not even a fraction of the cost. I am going to try to make some and already have done a few contraptions which I will have to take pictures of (if there is anything left of them by the time I get to photograph them). I find that with all of the remaining parts of old toys...I can usually tie some plastic bits to them and Issac goes to town. Oh yes...the dried corn is a favorite for sure. -
I feel a bit responsible for this feeling you have. All I can say is that sometimes personal issues infect other areas of our lives and it can result in ugly happenings. I do personally apologize for any ugliness that I may have brought, as it is not in my normal character to allow things to get the better of me. I hope you continue to enjoy the greater portion of the posts which are loaded with awesome stories and advice. Cherrs!

Awe Spock. I do hope another opinion can shed some light on what can be done to help you. We need you to keep your stories coming. Take care Spock.

This high speed video of a person drawing an African Grey is beautiful. Apparantly, you could get a portrait done of your own grey. Watch and be amazed. Simply beautiful. Apparantly he did this in 3 hours.

Lol....a bird duo...I think I like that. That is great that you have so many! I don't know how you do it, Issac alone keeps my hands full. Great update

I had hoped to have the video I am working on done by this time, but I am still workin on it. In addition, Issac isn't doing many brand new things, so I thought I would go over my experience with him since he has come home. One thing that I have noticed is how much my schedule and daily activities have changed. I don't do much after work other than head right home and take care of Issac. By the end of the day I can't wait to see him. More healthy foods have been in the house. I have been cooking bird treats so that gets me in the kitchen more. I have had to place bird omens throughout the house or remove things that could get Issac into trouble. I have had to watch what I wear around him if I want to keep certain clothes nice. I became a professional spot cleaner of carpets. In general, I have developed a sense that always keeps on eye on what Issac is doing, like a little toddler. In return, I have the most wonderful friend that I could not initially imagine. He hears me set the alarm on my car and then I hear his contact call. From there, there is simply nothing like coming in the door and having Issac looking at me excitedly. I open his cage door and he hops onto my hand. I praise my little baby and communicate my love to him as fully as I can. I smile a whole lot more since he has been home. I laugh more too. I became a more nurturing person. I would say that the most significant reward is having an outlet for love that is so much deserving of all that I can give. There will always be a spot on my shoulder that welcomes Issac completely, even when I am on my last leg of the day and getting tired. The flapping sound of wings has become the sweetest sound I hear as Issac explores or tracks me down. The contact calls will always be welcomed and returned. Seeing the satisfaction of when I have found the perfect treat or toy is truly rewarding. Watching him hold something in his talon with great focus and determination is always a sign that everything is just perfect and Issac’s desires are being fulfilled. Or watching his little legs float him across the floor when he sees something he wants. Or the little tail flutter. Being serenaded from the shower curtain rod. Playing peek-a-boo. There is really something magical about befriending a parrot, and I feel the magic every day. As far as what I have given up, and what I receive from this relationship, I would say that I came out very much in the positive. A fortune cookie I had a couple weeks before I went looking for Issac said, "A new relationship is about to blossom. You will be blessed" Truer words have never been spoken. I am blessed in my life with Issac. Happy half birthday lil guy. Here are some pics of him over the last few months (oldest to newest -ish). Video will come later this week. Thanks for reading.

OMG!!! That is incredible! Both of my birds just went crazy when they heard that, as if to wonder what was wrong. They both were greatly concerned. The likeness of a baby is incredible.

LOL...as I read this...about 5 minutes ago Issac did it again. Sometimes his final destination is my shoulder and I am wary of what will happen next. If it were anyone else, he would have them running away for sure. I find it entertaining though. It reminds me of a bird battle cry.

What physical changes to expect as our babies age?
Elvenking replied to reggieroo's topic in The GREY Lounge
When I compare Issac to videos of older Greys, I notice more deliberate movement and more assertive noise making (and talking as well) in older birds. -
Ohh my. This is always such a great moment. I will never forget driving Issac home from the breeders is an little box lined with cloth, looking over at him from time to time to make sure he wasn't scared of the ride. His little head just suspended and looking at me innocently with aprehensive trust that I would be bringing him somewhere safe. There is no way to put into words how wonderful it is to bring them home. I am always happy to read about these moments, thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful time with your new baby. He's a gorgeous bird.

I came here to make absolutely sure I have all the best ideas and facts from those who care for these beautiful birds themselvs. I am a person who likes to know all the angles before I amke a decision, and the folks of this forum deliver......every time. Thanks all.

Ohh my gosh... I am certifiably bird crazy. LOL. I was just thinking the other day about how I could make the toys for a much cheaper cost and start a small business.

That is sooo cute! I wish I could start getting a hit or miss situation going with Issac. I do keep trying to give him the option. Going to try today again. Wish me luck. Good for Alfie!

Looks like Beau is having fun. Issac is looking at him too, he says hi.

Lol...too funny. It is so nice to know how you can truly satisfy them when you want. He totally knows that when I say, "Want noodles?" that heaven is on the way. He does his little 'happy I am about to get fed' sounds and can bearly wait for me to put a little red palm oil on em before he is head down and tail up in to bowl. Thanks for sharing that Judy.

LOL...I think that is way more effective if you want my honest opinion. See...you didn't need any help at all.

Flighted birds present, please enter quickly.

I apologize for being rude to the OP. I too can let my emotions get the better of me when it comes to the care for these birds. I would say that if you land these macaws into good hands, that is going to be the best thing to happen at this point. Anyway I can help as well. Sensitive subject...sorry. I also apologize to all that may have been affected by the fallout.

Ohh my gosh, I cannot believe that anyone could do that. This totally breaks my heart to see such disregard for the little guy. Tons and tons of karma your way for saving him\her.

For the love of all things good, can we please get over this as I do not like to move on with hard feelings. This is an official peace offering written by myself, Stephen. I never said anything to attack anyone in the first place and I hope that my original offense can be dealt with in a kind way from this point out. <3 ^ Heart Included

With how easy it is to offend people here, I hold very little value for ever being welcomed by certain people. Turn on you in a heartbeeat and never forgive you.
-
Ohh gosh there is no pleasing you. Thank you for being ever so difficult. I tried..you are impossible!!! Revel in that drama baby. You just don't recognize a gesture of peace.

Ahh yes...I have been referred to that series before. I will have to check it out when I get done with this BSG series. Yeah, I am geek for sure and work in software engineering. Of course Star Trek was my original geeky show, but I am expanding
