  1. Katie she want to be a Hat bird, welcome among us.
  2. They sure can scare us sometimes, glad this problem seems to be resolved.
  3. Thanks Dave I also loved that poker face annology.
  4. Upset in the middle of the night, who knew that could lead to a sweet moment with Griff. Sometimes I wonder how these guys survive in the wild. Though I am sure that greater exercise produces better balance and stronger feet and perhaps that life in our homes is so low threat they just don't hang on that well or sleep deeper than in the wild.
  5. Smokey Joe rarely pins even when he is planning to remove a chunk of me for further stud,y the other Greys do pin often. Don't know if that might be a personality issue or a genetic physical difference. He has no trouble seeing so I don't think it is problematic.
  6. welcome and just enjoy these moments and share some photos with us please. Getting to know your grey will be a story that unfolds more as you go from week to week and day to day. Look forward to hearing how he becomes part of your family.
  7. Slowly introduce new foods and let them see you eating some of the fresh foods as well, always better if they know you are enjoying something. Difficult to overfeed a Parrot but you can over supply some selections such as Sunflower seeds, Peanuts and any treats that have salt or sugars. Variety is a great thing to strive for.
  8. It sounds like he may have bumped that eye area perhaps a poor landing or while playing rough with his toys. Continue to observe and let your Vet know if it has not resolved.
  9. Oh well it was just Baseball not Grey related got to get those priorities in order.
  10. katana that was just beautiful to read and so true about that gentle slow Grey speed forward progress and trust.
  11. Always good to meet the birds personally before you make a decsion as to which bird, maybe the birds will help you decide by choosing you. Welcome and so good to see someone think it out before just setteling on an idea rather than an individual. Sad to hear about the death of your last Grey and I want to ask if you care to share what caused his passing?
  12. Very lucky birds they know how good life can be now!
  13. Hope all is well or close to it.
  14. It is not unusual for an Ekkie to grow a yellow feather when they have been plucking that area. I think it is like when a dog had an injury that heals then the hair coat can regrow in a different color Grey dog black hair to damaged area, white dog often grows brown fur over an injury site. Some times Greys will grow a red feather to replace a grey one in a plucked or injured area.
  15. Good for you taking these grey into your life, follow Daves' suggestion to get started on the right foot with them. Give them time to adjust once they have been Vetted since they have not been out of that house in so many years it will all be a huge change for them. A big new world to get used to new person, new home and possibly new cages, toys and food. Just go slow approaching them, have low expectations for interaction to start with and let them show you what they like and what helps them feel safe. We are all here and ready to help both you and the birds. Welcome to our rather Grey world.
  16. To help him pass the pieces feed him some plain cooked oatmeal flavored with a spoonful of Peanut butter it will help him get the pieces out of the gut and crop.
  17. Jayd is right -not safe for birds, the problem with Tea Tree oil is that the kidneys and liver are not able to break down the oils which are a central nervous system depressant for birds and small animals it can cause seizures, dizziness and death. Use either the Diatomaceous earth or you can liberally salt your carpet leave overnight and vacuum, in act vacuum every day if you can and keep those eggs and loose fleas out of the carpet.
  18. Thank you for sharing the photos they look so happy now. Colors brightening and the joy is apparent.
  19. Your story made me tear up too, so sweet is this victory over fear.
  20. I would use plain water if you have any doubts but I think the lemon juice is to preserve the Aloe with citric acid and should be ok.
  21. Those are some impressive bird feeders Ray.
  22. How can you stand having political adds at home as well as radio & TV I wold rethink that one it will keep coming back for years.
  23. I have a friend who just this week got to have her Grey bird step up & allow a head scratch after ten years of living with his very aggressive behavior. She never pushed him just took a long time to build his trust. The lady was shedding tears of joy never really expecting him to allow such interaction. Incognito that was beautifully expressed and you have an ideal look out on their lives with us.
