  1. A friend had to put toy animals on her cabinets to keep the woodwork safe. Apparently beanie babies frighten parrots, at least at her house.
  2. Great rescue story Jeff, hopefully she won't regain any prey drive when she is feeling better. Poor Food and exhaustion take their toll. Smart dogs so she can learn what ever you are able to teach her. Hoping she finds her permanent place in your household with you and Gracie.
  3. What joy to be a part of such a renaissance of the personality Miss Gilda Gilbert, even a joy for those of us voyeurs from afar.
  4. You are right Chickabee, having spent most of my life doing rescue work I have seen what a different being lack of fear, good food and clean surroundings can make. Good on you as the Aussies say!
  5. Will be waiting to hear how the visit went and Echo wee learn that he gets to go right back home to his new life again.
  6. This reminds me of the "Uplift War" series by David Brin, very good reading. It could be a better world if we did have more respect for all species even those we eat should be granted kindness and dignity. Legally they may have a tough row to hoe as they would have to show why these certain species are at a different level, at our level. Cockatoos and Amazons have great intelligence and the Too's have mechanical and engineering skills as well. Crows and Ravens are wonderful problem solvers with a sharp intelligence, Honeyguides (passarine birds) have been leading humans to bee trees for centuries to share in the honey found, surely that takes complex thought. Dogs and cats as well can show amazing ability to adapt to situations and save lives of their" pet" humans.
  7. So glad you have a new Grey companion and have joined our flock. It would be lovely to know how Echo came into your life.
  8. Perhaps trying a flat food dish on the cage floor with interesting mixes to pick through, lots of color and a light apple cider vinegar dressing (place dish away from dropping area). Some times a new approach and watching you enjoy it with lots of ummm sounds and lip smacking can help. Have no other foods available when trying out the new stuff for an hour or two.
  9. You are truely welcome here, great back story too. I am certain we will hear more from your journey forward with Jake and looking forward to that.
  10. She is the Cajun Queen of all she surveys and at more than one location, perhaps an Empress or a Wise Swamp woman.
  11. Nothing like a big Too hug and that baby powder smell they share.
  12. I found it on an old blog at another site & believed it to be worth passing forward.
  13. Must have been a hoot getting to be there for all the fun! We are all here to hold each other upright and keep moving forward so glad this safe place is here for us all when we need that little pat on the back or an ear to bend. I know if we found ourselves in a bind with our flock many of you would be there for me too. Kindness can be contagious.
  14. will be waiting to hear what the determination of the exam is. Hope it is simple & easily treated.
  15. Life does toss some speed bumps in front of us, you are both clever and strong of heart I know you will find a way!
  16. Making that kind of decision requires meeting some of each. I would suggest seeing which bird is comfortable with you. Welcome
  17. Sweet moments like that just melt your heart, go Cotay!
  18. Poor little guy has fallen into a home that will do their very best to help him feel secure and learn all they can. Great to hear, we will help you along. Let him see you eat some healthy things and offer some to him, maybe a sugar snap pea pod or some apple to start with.
  19. Isn't the end of knuckle bones cartilage not gristle? Cartilage is a digestible protein source, I always leave a little meat on the bone for them to enjoy.

    Good News

I love hearing about their diet change and then having such great blood work results. Good reminder to get my flock their yearly on the schedule.
  21. Her personality is in bloom, what a wondrous Christmas gift.
  22. I submit it may have been murder most foul, possible government involvement has been hinted at.
  23. I think that is Sculpty rather than clay.
  24. A sad loss just for her birthday and the Holiday season, my heart goes out to her. So glad you solved the shadow invasion problem it is funny how small things can make such a huge difference in their lives.
