  1. This too shall pass, it seems when we get used to who works with whom they change allegiance anyway fickle critters.
  2. We are fortunate to all being a little Grey, perhaps some more than others.
  3. A little humorous but do let him see you enjoy playing with the wooden stuff and "attempt to keep it away from him". Grey bird see Grey bird might do as in they always want what we have food, phones, computer keyboards I could go on.
  4. At our house the flock conducts hearing test of different frequencies daily, I can still hear them so all must be well despite the ringing noise I often hear now.
  5. I do understand the frustration you feel right now, do keep on using the rescue remedy and do try to relax. It is very difficult to take that deep breath and just let go of the bad feelings but that is what is needed. As long as you know you are doing your best and he is other wise a happy healthy bird just a nudist for now. A great diet with fresh colorful foods, some direct Sunlight, clean water, lots to do and love is what he needs and I know you are providing his needs and then some.

  8. I am amazed that pen is still intact. Welcome among us.
  9. Mine recognize the voice on the phone but show no stress over the possibility that I could ever fit inside the cell phone.
  10. Sad for your loss and grief is such a painful thing. Our Vet says that like some people and some breeds of dog some Parrots are genetically prone to heart disease. Many birds live and have lived very long lives being cage bound and on diets we would consider very deficient. I just lost a friends bird I was caring for to an infection from a retained egg yolk, sudden onset and death occurred the same morning she showed symptoms. My heart goes out to you.
  11. Perhaps Vincent should be subject to lock down if a radar check shows storm within 100 miles? Link to Tropical Weather blog radar for Ft.Worth /Dallas area it can be put on your phone as well. http://www.wunderground.com/weather-radar/united-states/tx/dallas-fort-worth/fws/?region=sat

    bird bread

We have a section with many recipies and ideas but I will share a few helpful suggestions. I make my birdy bread with coconut juice (unsweetened) finely chop or blend veggies he doesn't like. Add some almonds or almond meal, pecans, cashews, walnuts Garbonzo beans, sprouted grains, organic apple sauce or pumpkin pulp or mashed sweet potatoes. For added nutrition use rainbow kale, golden or red beets, most enjoy some mango or papaya you can add the papaya seeds. I also add Ginger, Tumeric, safflowers (dried)and some cornmeal or arrowroot flour eggs no shells here some coconut oil or red palm oil, mix all together pour into a shallow pan lined with parchment paper and bake at 400 degrees until knife pushed into the mixture comes out clean. They enjoy red pepper flakes, jalepenos corn, peas, green beans, squash what ever you want to use that is a safe food.
  16. Some warm oatmeal with a little applesauce and nut butter will help her feel cared for.
  17. Sounds like fun just too far from Texas. sigh
  18. Thuggy Crows, what an interesting experience between the two groups.
  19. The picture looks like Java has a bit of damage to her upper mandible, do keep an eye on that it may affect the way that beak grows.
  20. Adorable! Is the oat mixture warm? They usually love warm foods like that.
  21. The great bullfrog migration was not a successful journey.
  22. Neow gave you sound advice, Greys are not famous for being cuddly birds so don't expect to be able to get too much hands on for now. He needs to learn trust and having been through more than one home already he he working off preconcieved ideas of what to expect form us humans. Allow him more time to just get used to seeing, hearing and observing all the daily activities around him. Stop and speak with him often, offer little treats once in a while and read to him or sing (they don't care how well or badly you sing). Read Gilberts thread and you will develop an understanding of how Grey time works and how this bird may need to work through his "luggage" from other homes before fully accepting the life you are trying to offer him. Avoiding the bite is the best thing to do we don't want to reinforce that behavior. Oh yes and welcome to our little Grey world here.
