Harvey is now 18 months old and his one mission in life is to kill me off!! Now, I'm not saying he's an angel (he has his moments) but at the minute he's an absolute little stinker!! He will not sit anywhere for more than 10 seconds, before moving off to create his next bit of mayhem. Take for example this evening - his stand is in the conservatory as it is lovely and warm today, which gives him plenty of opportunity for devilment (off the stand, on the chair, off the stand, top of the door, off the stand, top of the lamp, off the stand, top of the blinds - you get the idea!!! So, if you are reading this and thinking about getting a grey - remember to get a gym membership too - they keep you on your toes!!!

OMG! I've had a lot to catch up on in two days!!! They are absolutely gorgeous - but I'm still in awe at their weight! Harvey at 18 months only weighs 550g and he's classed as a medium sized grey - not a little weeny baby!! Harvey only weighed about 490g when I brought him home at 12 weeks old - you've got a couple of big 'uns there!! Team JayD & Tanya are doing a fab job bringing these babies up - and I am sitting here in absolute awe at both of you! Well done ~ they are looking great!
-
Oh No! Poor Bellino!!! Lucky you were there to rush him to the vets. Poor little baby bird Oh, it's awful when you make them blush isn't it - Harvey gets so embarrassed when I tell him off. Hope Bellino gets better - keep us updated on the little fella xx

I wasn't going to show myself up (more than I usually do) by asking if we could see it - BUT WE CAN!!! I am soooo excited! I'm off for a peek at the threads you've supplied. How exciting is this!! PS. Thanks for the description of the time - is it Micky's big finger that is pointing to the 11 or his other arm?

Delma - these were last year's upgrades - they are "new and improved" now. If you look between your name and your picture it tells you what "time of life" you're at on the forum, and if you hover over the little green dot it tells you what stage in the forum you're at. It changes with the number of thanks you receive and the number of posts you provide. So, at the moment you are a "Fledgling" and are on a "distinguished road". I'm loving them - I can't wait till I get to the one that says "JillyBeanz is just really nice" - because it's never been said before :)

They often shift from foot to foot, and you'll often feel that one foot is warmer than the other when you pick them up after a rest period. They are settled and content (you'll hear him crunching his beak next)!

Yes, at present I am alone with 32 guests! Nobody wants to log in when I'm on - I get the message - don't worry, I don't need you.............!!!!!

Sorry I missed saying hello! Hi Oscar ~ hope your parront enjoys reading everything around here in preparation for your life ahead! I'm even more sorry I'm a week too late in trying to get you to be able to fly! Why oh why oh why!! I'm not sure what "differentiate between you and Ruby" means - just tell the difference? Could they not have painted a toenail - it's a bit of a drastic step to take just because foolish people can't tell two birds apart!! Anyhow, it's done now, let's hope your parront lets your wings grow so that you can learn to be a bird Also, in your blog, your parront describes you were scared and hid in the corner of your cage - greys are very timid creatures that don't like change and new things have to be introduced very gradually - a new cage full of new toys is a terrifying experience, so it's no wonder that you are scared. Perhaps your parront needs to take some things out of the cage and introduces them gently I

Well, that's great Bernie - you've got a face definitely fit for radio!! How totally exciting!!! What sort of time is it going to pass over the UK?
-
Ah, you can't name them both then! You're definitely going to have to let mommy # 2 name her baby - has she not shown any interest in naming it up till now? I knew what I was going to call Harvey five years before I got him!!!

Easy Fundraising - for the cause of your choice

Lyn this is an absolutely super site - there's loads of major retailers involved! Thank you so much for sharing it!! -
In the UK we have a programme called "Crimewatch" - I think in the states it's called "America's Most Wanted" or something along those lines................!!!
-
That's it - the first bit of warm weather here and the windows and doors are opened - I think we slightly get carried away by the moment. I hope Poppy's found soon.

Happy Hatchday to you Biscotti - I hope you had loads of great pressies and you let us know all what you got!!
-
Oh These are gorgeous!! Another set of Amazons to add to our growing collection!!! Ooh, tell us all about them!!!
-
I have never, ever seen one of those Palm Cockatoos ever! I've never even heard of one! They are absolutely beautiful - as are the others. I'd be really interested in finding out more too!
-
Ah, he's so cute Bonnie! What about perching Basil on top of his cage, standing on the sofa and jumping off whilst waving your arms madly in an up and down motion? Mmm, thought I'd seen it in a film before!! Good luck in your training - can't wait to hear how successful you are!
-
Those amber eyes are just something else! They are absolutely beautiful. I love the colour of the "off green" one - what a strange shade. Thanks again Jay - fantastic addition to my repetoire!

Oooh! Where do I start!! Well, when they are fledged they can do anything they want and go anywhere they want, so you have to now alter your accommodation to ensure that it's "bird friendly". This includes getting door stops to ensure doors dont' slam shut whilst they are on top of them, checking houseplants are "edible" - oh yes, they like to eat plants. They can fly and bang into windows and mirrors - so it's best to "show them" around the house, or add stickers or something to let them know you can't fly through there. Doors and windows have to be firmly shut whilst baby is out - and other members of the family have to be trained in "parrot awareness". The most important thing is though - don't fuss over them too much, let them find their way round and negotiate their new found surroundings. This is where I'll stop - and someone else can take over!

OMG! This is terrible news (both for you and Cocoa). You will be devastated, and so will Cocoa. What horrible, awful, unscrupulous people these obviously are - especially using his father as the "lure" to bring you back to them. I too would telephone the police - you have proof that Cocoa has been with you for the 9 months you describe, photographs etc. My thoughts are with you at this terrible, terrible time.

You're going to really hate me when I tell you this! If you do go with the breeder you're talking about, I am extremely dubious that the one that you go to visit and "chooses you" is actually the one that comes home with you! He's not a breeder that lets you see them too early - he breeds at his home and when they are old enough to bring to the showroom he brings them there (I do understand why he doesn't let too many people know where he lives). There will be two or three in the show room and you can hold them all and decide which you would like. I really don't think that the one I had "chosen" was Harvey - it's not like they'd painted his toenail to depict my ownership! I know this all sounds terrible - and I would have loved to have the experience that others have depicted here - but it didn't make a difference anyway - he's mine, all mine!!!!!

Murphy & one less than favorable landing!
JillyBeanz replied to reggieroo's topic in The GREY Lounge
Ha Ha! Great picture of Murphy! They know EXACTLY what they aren't allowed to touch - which makes it so much more appealing! I think it's hilarious how he stayed there too - clearly couldn't give a hoot he'd been caught right in the act. I suppose it's like Harvey in my avatar too - he was only a baby when he landed in the yucca - something that he's never done again!! -
I'm sorry I missed this yesterday ~ but did realise it was Memorial Day in the States. Great poem Bonnie ~ and so true.
-
Ha Ha! I prefer Jasper's version of Bad Romance!!! What I'm laughing at is the fact that the door is wide open and Jasper stays in his cage - that wouldn't happen in this house!!! Great video! Thanks for sharing.
-
Oh my goodness!! I feel I know a lot about you both, but I didn't realise you were both registered deaf too!! HOW ON EARTH DO YOU COPE WITH THE NOISE FROM ALL THOSE COCKATIELS!!! Spiky drove me mad with his screeching - I can't imagine what it's like in your house!!! They are absolutely beautiful!! Now - a little message to Spock "the King is supposed to be carried bit their servants - not the other way round"
