  1. Hi Msmousej ~ Welcome to the forum. It's lovely that Mandy is now stepping up - that's a great accomplishment! It'll be great to hear all about you and Mandy.
  2. Actually, you see that top hit on the cage - I'm not sure that is big enough looking at it now! If your grey were to go to the highest point (as they always do) that quite a small space!!!

  4. nealo wrote:bear in mind the length is across the front and the width is from front to back. Never! That cage is fine - very nice cage.

  6. I read all about the "teach your parrot the no shoulder policy, it'll think it's better than you" - "advice". I tried this for the first day or two (because everywhere told me this is what I MUST do). What a load of tosh! Harvey is quite happy sitting on my shoulder, helping me on the forum, helping me wash the dishes etc. He's happy there and I am happy - I trust him - he has never tried to bite and at the first sign he would be stopped. Harvey's like Judy's birds - doesn't need to be asked to step up, sees my hand and knows what is asked of him - keep up the good work
  7. I put Harvey's new foraging toy in his cage on Monday. It's a coconut with bits cut out the side and then covered over with card (bad description, but keep with me). There were palm leaves sprouting out of the sides and it hangs above his favourite perch. Inside there are loads of blocks and other treats - when he breaks through the covered holes. It's now THURSDAY - he's pulled the palm bits off - but hasn't managed to get inside yet! How thick is he!!!!! Trust me to bring home the dunce of the bunch!!! NB: The only saving grace is that I don't have to buy him another this weekend!!!!
  8. Ha Ha Ha! Never!!! I was just taking the mick!!! I come in different shapes and sizes. Part of me are curves, others are straight. You can put me anywhere you like, but there is only one right place for me. What am I?

    hmm

Oh, sorry, just found this after posting in your original thread about the cage - Dave's right Nealo - I the cage is advertised as being big enough for a grey - but when you get to see one they are far too small. Honestly, your grey's wings will reach out to each side of the cage.
  10. Nealo - this cage is too small - I have seen it and it is described for a grey - but really it was the size of the cage I had my cockatiel in. They do advertise these as being sized for a grey - but when you get close to them - they aren't big enough. The one in that range that is suitable has three food doors in and a lot bigger play top. I wouldn't get it - honestly - it's not that big.
  11. I've brokered a deal with the company I buy all of Harvey's food, treats and supplements from. Bob & Diane at Midland Parrots will offer Grey Forums Members a 5% discount at checkout using the following voucher code: MP 0010 The website is www.midlandparrots.com There is no lower or upper value of spend - the 5% will be deducted at the checkout. The postage is not included in the discount as he uses next day courier (which I can certainly vouch for). Happy Shopping!!!!<br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/11/19 20:17
  12. I use a company called "Midland Parrots" for all my food, supplements toys etc. I posted yesterday about the exemplary service they'd given me about a damaged product. Well, he phoned me today and we got chatting - I mentioned our forum and he has said that for all members he will offer a 5% discount at the checkout by using the following voucher code: MP 0010 The website is www.midlandparrots.com There is no lower or upper value of spend - the 5% will be deducted at the checkout. The postage is not included in the discount as he uses next day courier (which I can certainly vouch for). Happy Shopping!!!!
  13. There's nothing wrong with his poop! I couldn't give him all the supplements on the market - he'd be rattling/swooshing about!! He has a very healthy diet and has a couple of supplements for calcium and D3 - which are more essential in the UK (lack of beautiful sunshine!!!) I don't believe in Actimel and all that for digestive problems in humans though - took them for absolutely ages and they made no difference - apart from to my bank balance!!!!<br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/11/19 13:58
  14. A TurKEY - ha ha ha. I'm not sure that's right - just my sense of humour!
  15. devonanno wrote: Nobody! Just in extreme moderation. It's all to do with digestion and toleration - not chemicals and additives!! Harvey has a bit cheese now and then - a little yoghurt, but that's about it!
  16. I have laughed and laughed and laughed at those bottom two Bernie - absolutely hilarious!!!
  17. I showed my husband this last night, then the kids and now I've come into work and shown my work colleagues! They're not bird people and even they sat and went "oooh, ahhhh, ahhhh, ooooh"!!! Thanks again
  18. Ah, that's great news Dee - just like trying to give the kids their Calpol all those years ago eh? Can't wait to see the new photos of Juno
  19. Hi msmousej - welcome to the forum. Harvey does this round his food bowl - he does this when he's trying to draw attention to himself shortly after we put him in his cage! It's his "I want out" tantrum. Karma to you for taking on an older grey - it will be a transition period for you both - Mandy will be wary of you and you of she. There are loads of great threads about rescue greys or older adoptions and other people's accomplishments and tips - just mooch about a bit. Go and introduce yourself in the Welcome Room - we love to get to know people (and some photos of Mandy would be lovely)! Look forward to hearing more about you both. 20. It's great you are having progress - like we said - baby steps! Baby's a lovely looking grey - thanks for sharing your photos and videos
  21. Oh my goodness Pat - what an absolutely gorgeous compilation - it was so moving! Can't imagine what it was like for you to watch!! I loved the still shot of the three of them in the "naughty corner". What a joyful video - thanks for sharing such a precious thing
  22. I've seen those cages - they are large enough - lucky you - lucky Guapo! Can't wait to see him xxx
  23. I have looked back and forth to this riddle - is it a lettuce (stalk - legs, bit in the middle heart)>> That's all I can come up with!!!
  24. He's behind you!!! Oh No! I do not envy you one little bit!!! Actually - I used to love taking the kids to the panto - they are such a giggle!!
  25. SSSSHHHHHH!!! Don't tell Harvey about the pommies! Emma is doing EXACTLY what Harvey does with pomegranate - shakes her head! Therefore, I have had to replace numerous slats from my vertical blinds due to the "pink splatter pattern". She's enjoying that for sure
