Do you buy your fids Birthday/Christmas gifts?
Joolesgreyuk replied to Joolesgreyuk's topic in The GREY Lounge
£44! For one??? And I thought I mas mad Jill. You do realise I'd have to have 2 don't you? Not sure I'll put the pouches in the microwave but they look nice and cosy. ;-) -
Oh Jill you are so right, I feel terribly guilty but Steve's usual comment is "so now we can't have holidays because we have parrots". I have been to my parroty client this morning to do her hair (she has two, a hahns and an amazon - I think) and talked to her about it. She told me not to worry she has left hers between 24 & 48 hrs and they were fine, they have each other and just to make sure they have plenty of food but even after being given this advice I think I will get my mum to give them fresh water on the second day. again though I feel terribly guilty doing this as mum is in her 70s and Argyle in particular can be nippy - he is so quick. I feel so torn.

I think I'm more than a little crazy but I'm sure I'm in good company on here. My 12year old son recently asked me if I'm going to buy my fids Christmas gifts, to which I replied "of course" anyway today I've been on my favourite parrot supply website and spent £76  believe me it's so easy to spend that much! My excuse is that this order will contain their Christmas gifts ;-) but I also ordered the vits that Jill recomended and then I saw these: http://www.24parrot.com/Cosy-Pocket-P37906/ You guys know how it is, these sites play on your fears, my latest (I have different ones all the time) being the dip in nightime temps. Anyways, I'm skint - again

Wow, how exciting, bet you can hardly wait. Be sure to keep us posted - preferably with pictures :woohoo:

Caitlyn, you are a great mom, you are just going through a bad patch with Ecko atm. We all go through this, hang in there. I'm sure things will improve and you will figure out what works for you both given time. You are a busy lady, don't beat yourself up.

Jill I love checking-out your pictures of Harvey, he's a fine-looking fella. Great idea about the cane, where did you get this?

It's almost 5.40am here in the UK and I'm thinking about going back to bed for an hour. Woke about 3.55 and was unable to go back to sleep so came downstairs to make myself a drink and have a browse on here. Y A W N! Wassup Bernie?

Against all the odds it seems our prayers have been answered! :woohoo: What amazing news this is! Thank you for keeping us updated and yes you are truly the best parronts!

Where are you going Oosie, anywhere nice?

I was wondering if anyone could advise me on how long I can leave my two fids alone for. I know that holidays are really tricky for all of us, personally I don't really have anyone I can ask who would look after my birds should I go away. For instance, Steve is planning a bit of a break at the end of the month, an overnight stay - up to 48 hrs. Would my birds be ok alone for that long? What should I do, I won't be here to cover them at night and the place would be so quiet. What about fresh water?

Confirmation of What People Think of Me!!!

That's what I like about our Bernie - straight to the point, no messin'. -
There are some sicko's in this world I'm afraid Spock, make sure your slaves don't leave the house unlocked or you might find yourself leaving it under someone's arm
-
LOL I wouldn't worry about it Pat, I haven't had either of mine confirmed as boys but to me they are "my boys". I may have them tested one day but I'm in no hurry. Darious is lovely whatever sex he/she is ;-)

Somewhat reluctantly I guess I am the newest recruit of this club it's double trouble in my house atm and I have found myself feeling very nervous of head scratcing Beau and offering treats to Argyle. Jill suggested earlier nights might do the trick as they may not be getting enough sleep - pah as if they need an excuse! I'll try anything though as my hands aren't a pretty sight atm.

I would say that's very apt Jill but we love you and wouldn't have it any other way. -
Thanks Jill, I'm gonna take your advice and try earlier nights for my two.

I hope this story has a happy ending and I'm sending healing thoughts your way. Yours has to be the most deserving karma I have ever given, you are top parronts.

Thanks everyone for your support. This is unrelated but Beau seems to me to be petrified of Argyle. I have to have them out seperately but today when Argyle took off from his cage to come into this room, Beau took fright and flapped all over his cage, as a result of this he has a small knock (scratch) just above his nostils, it is red but isn't bleeding. He doesn't seem bothered by this and is behaving normally. Beau seems to have become a real scaredy cat as he's gotton older. We have a plastic seat which opens up and is a storage box in the garden which we overfilled and it sprang open yesterday, Beau went ballistic!

Post edited by: Joolesgreyuk, at: 2009/09/29 20:48

I'm fed up with being bitten by my fids. The last few days Beau has been very nippy both towards me and his beloved Steve. I'm not sure what (if anything) has caused this but today Argyle has been the same, I go to feed him or give him a treat and the crafty bu@@er pretends to take it of me and at the last minute turns to nip me, the result of this is I have dents all over my fingers and a small bruise - I need my fingers to earn my living. I thought animals never bit the hand that feeds?!! Anyway, to top it all my laptop is now functioning at a snail's pace and I'm feeling sorry for myself. Sorry guys, had to vent!

Hey! :woohoo: Happy Birthday Jill - did you really think you could keep it a secret on here?

And the Nominees for Best Supporting Act are......
Joolesgreyuk replied to pearllyn's topic in The GREY Lounge
This is a great thread Lyn. Well I have to say that without Steve there would have been no Beau for me as he bought the whole package for me - bird, cage, the lot. He wasn't keen to have a bird at all and now we have two, ok Argyle was kind of pushed on him but he has never complained and although it's me that feeds and cleans them he does actively participate and he is very definately now Beau's favourite If Steve were a member on here we would be getting karma  -
Welcome to the forum Lisa, you have done a fine job with Harley by the sounds of it and without you he probably would have eventually died of neglect - the orange tail feathers tell their own story, he was obviously lacking something. Karma to you for saving this fine fella.

Aren't Dogs Supposed to bite the Postie?
Joolesgreyuk replied to JillyBeanz's topic in The GREY Lounge
Blimey Jill, your karma has increased lately, must be all the entertainment you provide. {Feel-good-0002006E} -
I've been shopping too Jill (after also doing washing lol) but have been unable to get the pomegranate seeds Sheila gets for her grey so it looks like I'll have to search online.
