{Feel-good-00020114}I need to know your experiences living with your Ekkies.. both good and BAD experiences. What gender parrot do you have? How old? Any dietary challenges? Behaviour challenges... i.e Aggression, Hormonal nesty behaviours? How do they respond to the rest of your flock? I have not made any concrete decisions as of yet .. but I am seriously considering adding a little girlie ekkie to my flock. Thanks in advance.:blush:<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/02/11 23:32

This video was filmed in august 2009. Notice how she insists that I "acknowledge" her when she tells me that she loves me. I hadn't realized until I watched the video. She also applauds and praises herself after noticing that I don't say anything after she says "where's my red bum bum. I guess I was distracted that day. She has become a much better "talker" since August. Hope you enjoy.{Feel-good-00020114} http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SCtyue6N38<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/02/09 20:27

A typical conversation has no "ordinary structure". My conversations with her tend to be on the "flowy side". I Never know which direction we will take.{Feel-good-00020114}

I took this video in August and found it while doing some dreaded but necessary cleanup on my computer tonight. I guess Emma does like playing on her back... alot more than I had realized. {Feel-good-00020114} I guess that's another good reason to have a MP Atom! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQoV7NWQngU

Thanks everybody! Emma definitely has her own timing. These days we are working on the alphabet. She is having a hard time saying Quasimodo - she says " Q is for Quasi-dodo". Instead of saying V is for Violin.. she says V is for Wallawen!!! Sometimes I feel that she really understands my heart. Living with an african grey is not "DULL" at all. The Televison has NOT been turned on here since.. August 2009.

This is how Emma plays with her Ball!

Emma hasn't always played on her back. This is relatively a new behaviour in her. I think that as parronts.. we can only provide them with as much stimulation as we can and they will "come up with their own ways" to play.<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/02/07 18:35 -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwpIn4SzbwQ This is her favourite swing! She loves to climb up and look down.

Awesome toys from The Parrot Asylum!

This place is definitely a great place to shop for our parrots Jooles!!B) The next toy that I introduced was the "Twirly Bears" . I really like this toy very much. {Feel-good-00020114}It is so happy looking. It was meant for Emma my grey.. but alas, things don't always work out the way I intend and so Sachi my pionus parrot was very glad to have first dibs at it! Once again.. it was put together by Shyra. http://www.parrotasylum.com/catalog/item/4927765/6963037.htm -
I received my order today and am so pleased with everything I purchased. Shyra even included a "complimentary bag of Parrot candy!" Thanks Shyra for being so kind, attentive and efficient! I was a first time shopper at the Parrot Asylum and am pleased to recommend these awesome handmade toys as well as the personable and great service. The toys I received are so creative, colorful, and very engaging. Tonight I introduced "The hanging Parrot Cookie toy" and Emma was quite intrigued.{Love-000200C2} http://www.parrotasylum.com/catalog/item/4927765/6284840.htm I will post other pictures later

and Sachi and LOVES it!! She played with it for a whole 15 minutes!! In all the time that I've had my parrots I never had the inclination to even try to make my own foot toys. Somehow I figured that it wouldn't be interesting enough to hold their attention .. so why waste my time when I can pay other people to do that job. I got my impulsive inspiration from the simple little plastic toy men found on Jan's Toy parts site. They don't look very fancy but Sachi and Emma LOVE them. Now I am super psyched and will strive to be a GREAT foottoy maker. I recommend purchasing toy parts on this site because Jan is very mindful of finding the lowest shipping costs for you. http://www.pionusparrot.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=15_6_8 <br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/01/16 19:58

I just received my foot toys, and stainless steel toys from Greyfeather toys! They are awesome. Can't say enough nice things about the quality of the toys and the service too. I completely agree and believe as "parrot owners" we don't require exact precision.

The video is quite "dark" so I thought I'd post better pictures so you can all see "The Alex Toy". -
My last one was pretty cruddy so today I purchased a new Kitchen scale instead and it was on sale for only $9.99 from $29.99 What kind of scale do you guys use to weigh your parrots? <br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/01/10 02:41
