  1. I am very much looking forward to receiving this toy. I will post videos and pictures for all of you.
  2. Glad you guys like them. Each toy sells for $18. I'm very thrilled with the both of them. Shyra provides amazing Quality and Craftmanship. I love the fact that she delivers Generous and Superior toys for not very much. ** I'm thinking about naming the one with teacups.. ** Sachi's Teacup Blossoms** or Sachi's Teacup Goody. {Feel-good-00020114}{Feel-good-00020114} Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/03/11 15:17<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/03/11 15:26
  3. As mentioned in another thread, I asked Shyra from http://www.parrotasylum.com/home.html to customize a toy catored For Emma my african grey. {Love-0002011E} http://www.greyforums.net/forums/homemade-toys-&-playstands/186558-emmas-wishing-paddy-toy.html#186558 I liked her HANDMADE creation so much that I asked if she could create a smaller toy for Sachi. Shyra did even better. She made two.B) Sachi LOVES leather knots, beads and little foot toys. Both of Shrya's creations fit the bill and will definitely draw Sachi in. Shyra has asked me to find names for these toys and I need a bit of help for GREAT NAMES. I'd really appreciate your assistance. Here's Shyra's description of each toy. For the Duck Toy. There is a golf ball size whiffle ball under her so the ball has 24 strands of hemp and there are 8 strands of leather made into two hanging strands above it. There are four of each part , little ducks, bears, chain, wood hearts, and keys. The rest is beads. It measures 7 inches from the top of the ducks head to the bottom and is 5 inches wide For the toys with Teacups.. It's all leather no hemp. The hemp was too bulky for it. It is 9 inches by 4 1/2" wide. There are 4 strands coming out of each tea cup with the same parts in each cup. It has three chinese lanterns hanging between the cups. 5. From ParrotAsylum by Shyra! http://www.parrotasylum.com/home.html On Friday I asked Shyra if she could put together a customized toy for my Emma and I am so so so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted a toy that acknowledges all of Emma's preferences, playing behaviours and one that encompasses toy PARTS that Emma ALREADY LOVES. This toy Must have LOTS of leather and hemp rope KNOTS and LOTS of nice interesting beads and shapes to keep her VERY busy and captivated. Shyra was up for the challenge. Today she sent me a picture of the SAMPLE prototype for some tweaking and to see if I like it or not. Here's a brief description of the toy as per Shyra…. The hair going around the top of the frog is done with 14 feet of leather divided into 14 strands. There are 63 knots and 49 parts/beads on the frog.She's sitting on a baseball size whiffle ball. There are 56 strands of hemp with five knots each (280 total) with 3 beads and one toy part on each strand (168 beads, 56 parts total). All together with both sections it gives you 273 beads/parts and 343 knots. The toy is 13 inches long from the top o'ring to the bottom and 8 inches wide. A 3.5 mm np quicklink will be included. To give you a little better idea on the size the top of the hat (not including the three beads above the hat) to the bottom of the frog is about the same height as a coke can. There are sea critters, sea creatures, 1" chain, plastic keys, small spin wheels, some rubber sea creatures that are a little stronger than an eraser but have the feel of one but much much more safer, 2 inch wooden hearts and stars, 1 1/4" wood hearts, 1" wood stars, plastic letters, jumping frogs, candyland beads, gumball beads, stringing rings, heart shaped pony beads, butterfly pony beads, star pony beads, pony beads, oval beads, and melon beads, as well as some soft plastic beads made from snake whistles. ****This Toy will be on the ParrotAsylum site as soon as Shyra has a chance to update her site.. but if you wish to order it you can just email Shyra directly. She's wonderful to do business with. {Feel-good-00020114} Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/03/11 06:36<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/03/27 22:14
  6. Tomorrow!!!!Won't have time to post about this {Feel-good-00020114} tomorrow so this is why we are celebrating today. I met her when she was 10 weeks old and was smitten immediately. At the time, I didn't think I was quite ready to be the parront of a SECOND parrot much less an african grey but decided to take a BIG leap of faith because who knows when I'd feel the same way about another african grey. I guess you all know by now that I'm very glad that I took that chance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6p20qrO26g
  7. This is a very good read. http://www.2ndchance.info/molt.htm

  9. jessdecutie18 wrote: I really don't know what type of Jalapenos were used this time.. but I use all kinds of hot peppers and Emma loves them.
  10. Today I put raw rapini, carrot and cauliflower in my mini food processor. Afterwards.. I combined the above mixture with frozen sweet corn, chopped apple, jalapeno peppers, chopped walnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds for a foraging experience. The second picture is what the finished product looks like. This is typical of what Sachi and Emma receive in the afternoon {Feel-good-00020114}

YOu can pay her through paypal..either with a credit card or directly from your paypal account. She ships using USPS. I am going to place another order soon. I am so very pleased with her toys. I do strongly recommend the Ring Around and the Parrot cookie for greys as well the Stainless steel toy ring!! Emma LOVES them!!!! In this video .. you can see how I've hung toy pieces on it to make a Brand new toy!! http://www.parrotasylum.com/catalog/item/4844859/7276688.htm :lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOl3UBa_v9s<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/02/28 00:41
  14. Luvparrots, I have been feeding my parrots this way for a good while:) I haven't purchased the custom mix from Perfectly parrot because it just isn't cost effective for me because I live in Canada. If I were a US resident.. I definitely would take advantage of this service. I love being able to choose exactly what to offer my parrots. Whenever I purchased all ready prepared mixes.. so much would end up at the bottom of the cage and then in the garbage can.:pinch:
  15. This in my opinion.. is an Awesome idea!! It is put together and offered by Kathy at Perfectly Parrot. She's also very nice too!{Feel-good-00020114} As parronts, we all know what our parrots like best. No need to pay for food they "don't and won't eat".B) You choose!! http://www.perfectlyparrot.com/store/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=101
  16. {Feel-good-00020114}Just wanted to give you all a heads up on a new online shop that opened up. http://fancyparrotboutique.com/ The owner Nikki is very nice and right now they're having a great SALE on health products. It's a good time to purchase that Birdie Emergency First Aid kit if you haven't already!! {Feel-good-00020114}<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/02/25 04:33
  17. This is a great topic. I would have to say.. in a way yes... Yes. Emma did choose me. Holding her felt right. She was very comfortable, relaxed and interested in me too. She didn't squirm, or yelp or nip. It felt very natural and when I left her that day to think about whether I was ready to take care of an african grey... I knew I better hurry up because I didn't want anyone else to have her.:)I called the shop 2 hours later and told them she was no longer for sale. 18. I love that Emma often says the right words at the right moment. She seems to know when I'm not feeling well and she'll ask "are you ok? you want a scratchie? I love you strong and tight, forever and always with all my heart. This always cracks me up and makes me smile.:lol:
  19. What a smart and beautiful Alfie!!{Feel-good-00020114}
  20. Purchased this in December from Greyfeather Toys but the Missy did not want anything to do with it. Today I placed it on the Stainless steel toy ring and it is FINALLY receiving some abusive facetime after her Saturday shower!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOl3UBa_v9s
  21. Miss Emma... Here she is after her Saturday shower. I usually serve raw and cooked veggies, fruits and a nut or 2 in the afternoons and they are both pretty good about cleaning their bowls. :lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd50nXZxHbs {Feel-good-00020114}
  22. Thanks everyone! You can purchase the ATOM at http://www.motherpluckinbirdtoys.com/
  23. Thanks Luvparrots and Rudysmom. After much reflection and discussing this as a "couple", we have decided not to introduce the baby ekkie to our flock. I truly don't feel that I know enough about this species.. to feel comfortable to take on that challenge. It was super exciting to meet her but I also cannot disregard some of the "reality check" threads I have read from other female Eclectus owners. My thought process.. is .. would I be able to "handle the worst case scenario?". At this point in time, I would have to say a firm no. I must add that another part that weighs very heavily on my mind .. is how this would affect my existing flock. For those who have seen my videos of Emma and Sachi....it is not by "coincidence" that they are the way they appear in pictures and video. We've put ALOT of time and effort in our care with them. There are merely 24 hours in a day and I don't have unlimited amounts of time either. No matter how you dice it.. adding a 3rd parrot would take away existing time from Emma and Sachi too.
