  1. Oh the things we do for our parrots. Before I brought my first parrot home, I had all the carpets removed and laminated or tile floors put in. Three parrots later, that's the best thing I every did for myself LOL!! It's always very exciting to hear the excitement in a new parront member's voice when their baby finally comes home!!! Love the name Jake!
  2. No sleep cage, they have a room that is theirs and are out all day long flying through the house. They are happy to go into their cages with a nighttime snack at evening time, well most of the time. LOL! Each does have a roomy travel cage for overnights, emergencies or sunshine time.
  3. My three are all allowed on my shoulder. They know it's a privilege because I do not hesitate to just flick them off (drop my shoulder and turn the opposite way) and off they go with a stern "no bites". They are all flighted so they just go flying. Only my zon is a nibbler whenever he is anywhere on me, knee, hand whatever. He is a rehome so he gets a warning or two before he is ejected. I never turn my face toward them, they are animals and yes their beak is a "third" hand so it is my responsibility to keep us all safe. I take it very seriously. Only a parrot's provider knows how their parrot will react to a situation, so it is a personal choice that they have to judge for themselves. Three parrots on my body (one on each shoulder and one in the middle of my shoulders is a constant here. A very funny looking one to be honest {lol}).
  4. Hi Missy, you are in good hands with Dave007 when it comes to baby/young greys as he is the excellent Moderator of our Nursery Room. Looking forward to hearing more about your grey (what's his name?) and seeing your sweet grey's picture (hint, hint lol) Welcome to the Grey Family!
  5. Ahh Jeff it is not Gracie who is insecure but perhaps Jeff LOL!!! Relax and know that you are a great parront and are if anything are being a little over cautious to see that Gracie is safe and knows she is loved. Believe me, she knows it and is just enjoying watching you prove your love again and again. Smart little lady. You should re-read some of your posts and you will see as we all do that you are a wonderful parront and Gracie knows it. Relax and enjoy your smart little girl.!!!!
  6. Wow, I would put my order in..... if I wasn't so F.....A......R.... away. Looks great!!!
  7. Oh can't wait to see your finished playstand!!!!! On another note, I love your signature especially the first picture. So very sweet and uninhabited. Priceless.
  8. Sounds like you and Casper are just perfect for each other!! I look forward to hearing more about him and getting to know both of you. Welcome to the Grey family!!
  9. Hi Daniel, my you have some fine looking parrots. Looking forward to getting to know the three of you!!! Welcome to the Grey family!
  10. Hi Momo, how's your singing voice. When my three make more noise then I want listen to, I sing to them or just talk. They always stop making their noises to listen to me. Just try to nip it in the bud and make some other noises, sounds more pleasant than what your grey/tiel is doing. Also if the noise is too much, pull the drapes and turn off the lights so that it is darker in the room that perhaps will also quiet down your parrot. The problem is what most of us do when we first get our grey, we are so pleased to finally have a grey that we over indulge with the petting and playing and carrying around and then when the grey is more common to us, we move on to other things. It confuses our spoiled greys/parrots and now it is up to us to turn them around to a more satisfactory relationship. But patient and try to make it easier on both of you.
  11. Hi Maggie, hey I have only good thoughts for Jay and truly wish him a marvelous birthday!
  12. I purchase all my parrots salt free nuts from this site and always have been happy with their service. They have great dehydrated unsalted veggies too if I remember right.
  13. Happy Birthday Jay!!!!! Have a great day!!
  14. Well said Penny, that's why I think you are the perfect administrator for this Grey family forum. Yes we are family and some of us argue and state our feelings without thinking about how it can hurt others just like in a family. Many times I type something and step back and think about how I would react to such being said to me and most of the time I don't post my thoughts because I remember and rely on a statement I learned many years ago. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Thank you for this thread Penny.
  15. I would love to see some photos of Opey and hear all about him.
  16. Oh my what a cutie! Looking forward to watching this little sweetie grow!!!
  17. Just so happy Xandir is home. Hooray!

  19. Hi Katrina welcome to you and Alfie into the Grey family. Very nice and honest intro by the way. Looking forward to getting to know you and Alfie!
  20. My 4 year old TAG does not play with her toys very much. I don't worry about it as she is out all day and flying around and interacting with me. My year old CAG is not much of a toy player either. Now my ZON loves toys, and chews them to pieces all the time. Each parrot is different, as long as your parrot is happy let her do her own thing. As for liking paper, be happy she has inexpensive tastes. Try wrapping treats and small toys in the paper for her to play with.
  21. Welcome home Filbert. Looking forward to watching Filbert grow!
  22. Congratulations on your baby Girl! Can't wait to watch her grow with you!
  23. Not at all. Louie doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Whatever comes along we will get through it.
  24. Now that I have stopped laughing about naked 50+ humans, here are my three all "naked". Video:
  25. Great advice already given. Just get out there and calmly look for Xandir. Mornings and evenings/dinnertime are the times birds are most active looking for food. Take his favorite foods and calmly call to him with words he will recognize, Alert all the neighbors and don't give up. Spend some time sitting outside and see if he will come to you. Just don't give up and be brave.
