I have my three parrots micro-chipped in and effort to do whatever I can to get them back of they decide to adventure outside. The choice has to be individual to coincide with the dynamics of your personal lifestyle and family. I live alone so normally I have complete control over my home. If I had small children or a very active home, my decision might have been different. Personal choice.

Oh Rikki, sweetheart, I'll protect you. I'm big and strong and really a good looking guy. Name is Sterling Gris and I weigh in at 505 g of pure muscle.

Ana Grey here. Well it's about time we the grey, (actually the ones this forum is REALLY about) were given a room of our own. Our parronts can be so dense some times. Sheesh!! Salsa, call me. I really need some direction on how to deal with that brute Louie and you seem to be a very put together kind of guy. Spock, where ever you are, I miss your threads, I really do. Live long and prosper.....

My grey just uses my large fish bowl whenever she is so inclined LOL!!!!

Nice to put a face to a name. Thanks for sharing your gang.

Jay are these yours. What kind/species of zon are they. I want one!!! These were ours, Salsa [in the 4 shots] is the little one. We recived them at 21 days old and raised and fledged them, this is what we did, same as the Macaws and Greys, keet's and all the other parrots we post photos of. The 2 large ones are "Blue Front, 1 is a Yellow-nape and salsa. In the photo they were around 10 weeks old and on 2 feeding a day. It was funny, we had 4 bowls of food in warmers and 4 syringes and they all wanted to eat at once.lol When we feed them they would all spread their wings and make baby sounds and bob their heads, food everywhere, Greys were the messiest...We miss it....Thanks

I think Simon might finally be trying to talk!
Luvparrots replied to Zoom's topic in The GREY Lounge
Happy to hear that Simon has now found his voice. My Sterling Gris has been a late talker, he is still trying out words. He is now 16 months old. He loves sounds more than words. He has been wolf whistling at the cute lady next door when she mows the lawn and getting in trouble with the husband. Naughty Sterling especially when he goes "woo woo" after the whistle!!! LOL! -
Ants don't like marigolds so perhaps planting some marigolds around the house or even bringing some plants in the house might help.

Zons sure love the water!!! Great pictures, great fun!! -
Wow, I am certainly looking forward to learning more about Bartel. The stories about Bartel's life are going to be great adventures for all of us! Welcome to the Grey family!

Hi Timbersmom, I have had my greys since they were weaned and if I tickle/scratch their heads/bodies in a way that is uncomfortable for them, they will nip at me to let me know that they are not happy. ( Perhaps a pin feather coming in and I moved it uncomfortably for my grey.) After the nip, then my grey will low her head again and want me to continue the tickle/scratch. Perhaps that is what happened with Timber. Please introduce yourself and Timber in the Welcome Room so everyone can say Hi and get to know you.

That's your little Diva. A lady with an attitude for sure! LOL!

Tucker is sure cute!!! Can't wait to hear more about him!

As you know, Louie has never let me touch him or carry him around until recently, very recently. He has been with me for about 21 months now. So here's Louie, the new confident zon. Video: I am very happy that Louie now truly trusts me!!! Now, if I can just get him to stop nibbling on me!!!!! LOL!!!

Kim, I live in Washougal, WA across the Columbia River from Portland, OR. PM me with your phone # if you would like me to home one of your IRNs to see if that improves the situation for the other and calms down your neighbors. I would hate to see you have to get rid of both your IRNs.

No one faults you. When I knew Sully did not fit into my bird flock, I never stopped trying to get my grey to be good and leave Sully alone. It took 2 years to find the right person for Sully and give Sully to him and his family with the understanding that if they could not handle Sully or decided they did not want him, I was to get Sully back. Now the young man, two years later, is getting ready to leave home on his own and of course take his parrot. Mama loves this parrot and wants to keep Sully with her so we will see what happens. All you can do is try to fit Momo into your home and if you happen to find a person better suited to care for him, then you can feel good about letting Momo go. No one faults you, we all want Momo to be happy too.

I have a heavyweight pug, Lily, who is 11 years old. When I first got my first grey, Ana Grey, at 4 months old, I introduced them and told Lily to leave Ana Grey alone. I sat with them both on the couch and let them know that they were both loved. Lily could care less about my three parrots, who are all flighted. None of my parrots go near her and she will leave a room if the parrots are very active. Each dog/parrot is different and you can only closely watch and supervise your companions to see how they get alone. Lily never goes in the bird room, her choice as the door is always open. Now when my daughter's, Labrador/Beagle is over, the parrots are closed in their bird room as Scout is very energetic and well quite frankly, a bird dog!

Congratulations Chezron, certainly sounds like Pancho was "stalking" you! LOL! Can't wait to hear what more mischief Pancho can find to do now that he has found his wings!

No you are not giving up. You are trying to decide what is best for your family structure and for Momo. Sometimes a parrot needs to be rehomed for the good of the parrot. Example: I rescued an older eclectus and for two years I tried to get him to fit into my flock. My Ana Grey, tag, is hell on wheels and very self-confident and feisty. She would dive bomb poor Sully whenever she saw him if he was just sitting on a perch, walking on the floor or on someone's shoulder she would go after him relentlessly. Sully would hide under my bed skirts to be safe from her. I rehomed him next door to a family who love him to death. He is now talking and having a wonderful time going to pet fairs and street fairs or into the local shops on his new owner's shoulder. He is loved and very happy and I am delighted for him. He did not fit into my flock, he was miserable and scarced of my grey and I could not help him until I let him go to someone who made him their world. That was the best thing I could do for him and it lightens my load in the guilt category because I could not help him in my home. We all try to do what is right for our greys, that is all we can do.

Getting excited, but the waiting stinks.
Luvparrots replied to Darwinsmom's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hi ZulusMom, congrats on your baby grey. I joined this forum when I first decided a grey was now for me and hung around here for a couple a months before I brought Ana Grey home. The information here is priceless and the people very caring about greys. Enjoy! Welcome to the Grey family! -
Lola what a lovely name. Reminds of the old song "whatever Lola wants....." Amazons are the best, enjoy!

Hi Carolinn, congratulations on your new companion. He is lucky to have found you! I am really looking forward to watching him open up to you. Just relax and let Buddy take the lead and get to know you and your family care. If he is a talker, it will come when he really understands that he is safe in his forever home. Welcome to the Grey family!

Hey Dave that's my Louie, the zon. He has no malice going on when he nibbles (not bites) my ears, hair or whatever. It's just something he has to do. He is happy and unafraid of me now and thinks my body is his playground. I can now touch him around his head and chin and I am delighted and hoping the nibbling will stop soon. Now, of course, with your story of Smokey, I guess I might have to just be happy that he's happy and finally is trying to trust me. On another note, I had to laugh about Smokey and your glasses because once Louie actually came over to the edge of his cage and took my glasses off my face and then took off!!!! When I finally got them back the laughing look in his eyes was priceless.

Thank you Linda for posting this lost grey. My parrots are all micro-chipped in the hopes that a finder will be as kind as you and take them in to a vet to see if they are micro-chipped. Kudoes to you for being a caring person.

LOL!!!! Jay, I love the pictures!!!!! I thought about posting a picture of my three all over me but I live alone so that's not going to happen real soon! I am so glad you are back!!!
