Hi sagittariusgirl, I have a TAG also and she is a feisty little lady. As for the other pets, I have a small pug and she could care less about my three flighted parrots. However, when my daughter's Lab is over, my parrots are closed in their bird room and when I am visiting my daughter's home with my parrots, my parrots are keep in my room and her cats are relegated to their closed master bedroom, cat box and all.. One of her cats is a hunter and loves to stalk anything that moves. So, the answer is how good are your pets around other pets or birds. Sometimes it is best to have only one kind of animal out at one time. It all depends on your dog and cat's attitude toward parrots/birds and vice versa. Welcome to the Grey family, I can't wait to learn more about your TAG.

Great looking signature. You have a very talented friend!

Hello from Southern California
Luvparrots replied to RubysDad's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hi Tom, wow Ruby is a very lucky lady to have survived an eagle attacked. I'm glad she is now back with her family. Welcome to the Grey Family! -
Hi Joe, it's me Ana Grey, I have been wondering about you. An older grey with a dark history. My type of older guy. I't nice to hear from you, I'll bet you have a lot to tell us if you would just let it flow!
-
Why Dayo, I have always been fascinated with your way with words, such a vocabulary and the way you treat your lady parront Kim, what a guy. It's easy to see that you are a high flyer. (blush, blush) Fly by sometime and I'll show you how to really shine your wingtips. And my, oh my, Gilbert, my man, I forgot about you. You're an older flyer with experience. As soon as your wings get a little more strength Gilly, come on by and I'll show you some flying maneuvers that will really rev up your engine. (oh my). Gee I wonder how many gentlemen flyers there really are around here???? I'm going to have to get out my aviator harness and do a little firming up!!!! Hey O.W.L. how about a little lettuce and yogurt for dinner!!!! A girl has to stay in shape you know!!!!!

Hi Everyone, it's me Ana Grey, the cute one!!!! (primp, primp) It's really hard to get a word in here edge-wide because that Old White-haired Lady. Oh sorry she says we can't call her that any more or there will be no treats.. but that we can use an abbreviation, O. W. L., the wise one. Sheesh and she calls me a Diva!! (humpf) Anyway, back to me. My Hatchday is here next month... just in case any of you guys are interested (Spencer/Dayo/Joey/Smokey). I'm going to be the Big O 4. What......No Sterling Gris, I said the Big O 4 not 40 you big knucklehead!!!! Oh go take a flight!!! Any who, back to me (flutter, flutter of lashes). Anyway if any of you big handsome flyers are in the area stop by. The OWL always has a full bird feeder or two on the patio and I'm always on the lookout!!!! (sigh) A girl has to keep her options open you know. Please don't make the only options open to be that lug Sterling Gris.. What's that term the neighbor kids called the OWL. Oh yeah "cougar". Hi TIMS and Kikki. How wonderful that Kikki now has a happy forever home with you. I can't wait to see your new balcony room for Kikki! He is a very lucky guy to have found you!

My Louie is very active all the time. Clanging bells and beating up toys just a very active clown. He has not fallen down that I know of. Now my CAG, he is a big guy and he falls down all the time but I believe he is just clumsy.
-
I don't think you would be disappointed with an Amazon. I find my Louie to be very comical and wanting to please. He never remembers anything adverse. He has a live and let live attitude. Now I do agree with a macaw. I would love one and if I find one that needs a home, well heaven help me, I will be making room in my home! Good luck with what you decide to do. I believe if you are bound to get another parrot, one will just find you!!!

Hey is that you Joe? Boy it sure is good to hear from one of the guys. I've read about your troubles before you got to Jay and Maggie's and I sure am glad I have always had an easy life especially the FOOD!!! I'm proud to be called like Spock. The old white haired lady she has talked to me and the others about Spock. He was a fun guy and I'm sure he is having a good life where ever he is. Such a guy! I'd better get going, I smell food a cooking!!!!! See you Joe!

Hi, here I am as my female companion calls me. "Big Guy" aka Sterling Gris, Gris which means Grey in French and Spanish but pig in Swedish so they say (Sheesh!!!) I am called the baby in the flock, but hey, I'm the biggest parrot how can I be called Baby!!!! I am the youngest true at 1 year and 4 months but come on..... I'm well, a Paul Bunyan or Jolly Green Giant in human terms and that white haired lady that lives here well she always praises me when first thing in the morning when I get out of my cage I fly to the bird room ceiling perch and give off a BIG ONE. Usually old White Hair says, "Good one, you Big Poop" and tickles my head with a big smile on her face. Boy is she easy to please. When I first got here, to my new home, I was scared because this little gray grey, named Ana Grey, what a bossy female she is, would beak me whenever I got near the treats but now that I am bigger and more confident she knows better and gets out of the way when I just pretend I'm going to bite her. Hey I need my nourishment I'm a big guy and need my strength. Now Louie, the zon, he is sure an easy going guy is such a gentleman, and let's me eat first... second and third.. heh, heh! Here i am doing my favorite thing, well besides eating, swinging!!!! Well, I need a snack so see ya!!

[quote name=Talon;261088...... Janet' date=' what do you use to hold the paper down, I would love to put down paper, but with my 3 flying, as you said, the paper goes flying too![/quote] I use furniture easy gliders to hold the paper down in my bird room. It works for me. In the other rooms of my home, I have ceiling boings/perches in places where my parrots always go to be near me. If they are not on my knee/chest or the back of my couch close to me, they are on these ceiling boings/perches. I have easy gliders or floor decorations on the paper beneath these places.

When I brought Sterling Gris home at 5 months, he was eating everything. Sterling is a big guy and loves food. His breeders sent me home with formula and showed me how to spoon feed him and told me that although Sterling ate well he still enjoyed the evening feedings and told me to continue it until he did not want it anymore. Well the evening feeding lasted about 3 days and then Sterling just ignored my trying to spoon feed him anymore. I was panicked and PM Dave007 and asked him "what should I do??? My grey won't eat his formula even though I chase he around." I was told....."stop chasing him around". So I did and Sterling Gris is happy and so am I. The breeders I have know all abundance feed their babies and I think that is a smashing idea. If I am eating oatmeal, my greys both still like to come over and steal a spoon full or so.

I have three parrots, two greys that I have had since weaned. My amazon was about 2 when I got him and it has taken a while for him to trust me. Honestly however, he is the favorite of anyone else who knows my three parrots. His antics and general personality have imbedded him into everyone's heart as the favorite. So my suggestion is to go with your heart and see where it leads you.
-
My greys' personalities.... well let's see: tenacious stubborn determined cuddly observant cautious egotistical fun-loving

I have a flighted canary, I love the male singers, so I have a mesh curtain over my office door (where the canary lives) It definitely keeps my Ana Grey out, aggressive TAG, who would love to have Captain Caruso for breakfast, hell, or lunch or dinner, she really doesn't care!!! My office is right across from the parrot room so they can see me at my desk which appeases their need to be with me.

Well, Louie the zon, is not much of a furniture destroyer BUT he does love the plastic chair plugs in my kitchen chairs. Luckily I have found a supplier of chair plugs on the internet and plan to get a HUGH supply in the near future. Louie loves the human body though, He is now a very confident zon when it comes to humans and flies on the neighbor teens that come over and nibbles their ears and preen their hair if they let him. I have had to replace many a hair tie for the late young lady next door as Louie is a ladies' man/zon. As for me, well he thinks I am very tasty and loves to fly to me and sit on my chest as I am reclining. I am going to have to get myself one of those catcher chest protectors I guess. Louie does love wooden toys and destroys them instantly so I keep a large supply on hand to save the furniture/moldings, I hope.

Carriers for Greys: What's everyone using?
Luvparrots replied to FirstPenguin's topic in The GREY Lounge
I have a collapsible carrier for each of my parrots for visiting and a hard side traveler for going to the vet in: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GIGW9U/ref=asc_df_B004GIGW9U2090180?smid=A1KKNI1QDASESA&tag=pgmp-946-97-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395109&creativeASIN=B004GIGW9U http://www.petsolutions.com/C/Pet-Bird-Carriers/I/Bird-Traveler-Case.aspx -
I have both a male, CAG, and a female, TAG, and they both are affectionate and love their scratches/tickles. They both come to me when I call them by name. Ana Grey came to me from a clutch of 5 and Sterling Gris was the last of a clutch of 4. Both breeders spent time socializing their babies. So I don't believe it makes a difference male or female. It really depends on how they are socialized by their breeders and how you bond with your grey once you get him/she home.

You have a very big heart and I am excited to hear about Bubba when he comes to your flock! What species of parrot is he?????
-
What a handsome guy!!!! I would love to have an IRN in my flock so I hope I don't see one that needs a home 'cause I'm a sucker for homeless fids!!!
-
As I wrote in an earlier post, my parrots are all flighted. I do have mesh screen doors on my outside doors to help prevent at least an instant escape. Try searching for Magic Mesh Screens. I also always keep my patio drapes closed so that the fids can't see the door is open when my pug is outside.

My TAG, Ana Grey, is a diva so she is not much of a toy player. Now my guys, Sterling Gris, CAG, and my Louie, the ZON, play all the time much in the same way. Hang up side down, beat the bejesus out of bells, hanging toys and just have a rough and tumble time. Then go on their way as if nothing out of the ordinary just went on. I love to watch my guys play. Sterling is a screamer but Louie just loves to bash the bells/toys and make lots of clanging/bashing noise. Sterling Gris' tail is a ratty mess all the time but Louie is always a good looking gentleman.
