  1. LNCAG how do we play the game? Details please.
  2. Looked this up and the first squawk box was about Wall Street and such...... then I found it on Facebook and it said for conures, cockatiels (smaller birds).
  3. Please let us know have things are going.....
  4. Great video. No grey bats here. Love your aviary. My son and his wife built me an aviary off the birdroom window. All I have to do is open the window and the gang can go in and out as they like. No food or water in the aviary so if they get thirsty or hungry they can come in and go to their cages easily.
  5. Oodles of prayers coming Timber's way. May God decide sweet Timber should be healthy and stay on earth for many, many, many more years.
  6. My parrots are okay with me being in their cages. Now others in Sterling Gris' cage not so good.
  7. Would love to hear about other members mischief makers.
  8. I am always embarrassed having to say my Ana Grey (tag) and Sterling Gris (cag) and Sophie (Lilac-headed zon) are all gentle non-chewers/non-squawkers/non-mess makers. They just like to fly or sit on me, their perches, my cabinet tops or back of my chair and usually eat pistachios. I don't think I could handle an ornery parrot. Ana Grey likes to give kisses and shake claw to hand and Sterling Gris is the watcher or guard on patrol and Sophie minds her own business and expects the same from the greys.
  9. True no convertible now but my hubby and I did own a 1972 green Chevy convertible in our younger days.
  10. I live alone and own my home. I drive a convertible. I am 5' 5" tall.
  11. I don't think I could identify my Ana Grey (TAG) if she was in a group. She has a band and has her certificate with all info on it somewhere in a box in my closet. She can talk but not often. Sterling Gris (CAG) is also banded and the paperwork stored. However he is silver colored and very large so I could likely identify him no problem. He talks very well and can sing part of the old song: Irene Good Night. My greys are very different from each other as Ana Grey loves everyone and trusts everyone and Sterling Gris loves and trusts only me and the 6'5" young man who lives next door. However both are microchipped so when found and if taken to a vet can easily be scanned and returned to me. I also have a 20-year old Lilac-Headed Amazon I recently rescued. She was cage bond and a seed only eater. Although unclipped she does not fly. We are working at trust, a better diet and getting her to fly. We'll see......

    The Return

Great question. My greys always make me follow them around trying to get them to step up. I guess to them it is exercise time before having to going back to "jail". Unfortunately this is why Sterling Gris learned the phrase "damn bird"... After the "chase" they readily fly to their room and step up and I can put them in their cages with no problem. They have also gone back in on their own as this is where they know dinner awaits them. I go into the cages as I please. No aggression as I am the leader of the pack or food machine.
  13. Just curious: Is/Are your fids flyers or clipped? Why do you refer that? My three: Tag, Cag and Zon all have unclipped feathers. Both greys came to me as babies and I assume their breeders believed a grey would be safer clipped with a bumbling new owner if it was clipped. (miss you Dave007, I know you would have some choice words for me about this). My zon is an older parrot and has not flown since in my care although she is unclipped. I believe they are blessed to be able to fly....I wish I could too. The greys have boings and perches in the rooms they can fly to and sit on if they are not on me. They have never flown into the windows. The front windows have knick knacks on the window upper sill. I also have mesh screens on the doors and windows. My kids and friends know to knock and when I open the door to come in quickly and shut the door quickly or there is hell to pay... Oooops back to my question. Are your fids flighted or unflighted and why?
  14. Sorry I have nothing to add to this thread, my greys and amazon are not chewers or diggers and just like to follow me around and sit on me or their perches. They have perches including my cabinet tops and window front boings in each room to observe from and eat pistachios.
  15. I purchased my greys as babies. I have always loved birds and wanted a cockatoo that could talk. In my area (a small country town) there are not a lot of bird lovers. Greys were the parrots I found in the newspaper so went to see them. Ana Grey has always been a friendly loving angel. Sterling Gris came to us still wanting evening formula. Ana Grey would feed Sterling sometimes at first and Sterling Gris has always treated her as the boss although he is twice her size. He follows her lead always. Besides me the only person he trusts is the young man next door. Perhaps they have a bond because Jordan is 6'5"; a big guy just like Sterling Gris.
  16. I purchase walnuts and other nuts in shells and crack open the larger ones for the greys and let them get them out. On the smaller ones, I let them do the job on their own.
  17. I use lots of different veggies and chop with a butcher knife. My Dad was a chef so I am quite handy with knives.
  18. At first glance greys normally look the same. Around strangers or different situations they are not use to they are normally quiet. So how would you identify your grey? Please share your thoughts about how you would be able to undisputably claim your grey if your grey got out of your care and someone else found and refused to return your grey to you.
  19. This is the travel cage I use for my parrots. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=5059+6322+22099&pcatid=22099
