  1. I hope new forever homes can be found for these poor birds. I certainly would help if I were in the area.
  2. A crate that is large enough for the dog to turn around in and watch the action in the room is the way I would go at first. Sophie can be outside the crate and get use to having the dog around while doggie is recuperating. Dog in crate, parrot outside watching dog heal. Then once the dog is no longer in pain, I would see how having them out together goes. Both will be use to each other by then.
  3. Well, always look at the Sunday paper and at least twice during the week. You know it is hard to break old habits.
  4. I agree, this Grey Forums is "simply the best, better than all the rest......."
  5. My cag, enjoys being sprayed. He also loves to get right up to the nozzle, and opening his beak for a good drink. Tries to catch the nozzle in his beak too. Never fails he just enjoys the water and aloe vera juice so I let him have a little. It is important to note that this is store bought aloe vera juice.
  6. My parrots all love a bath. I just mist/spray them with a bottle full of water and a touch of aloe vera juice. They open their feathers and get soaked to the skin. There is information in the Health Room on bathing your grey, I believe. And yes, greys are waterproof unless they open their feathers for you.
  7. If I were you, I would steer clear on this particular breeder as his stock is tainted. Have you tried contacting an avian veternarian in your area and asking about local breeders. That would be my best guess of finding a reliable avian breeder as you would know then that that particular breeder had an avian veternarian for his parrots. Good luck on finding a healthy grey.
  8. Oh, she is just assuming that if you want her picture, you will also want an autograph. Smart lady.
  9. Welcome home and thank you and your family for your service. I too believe that Buddy will recognize you all. I am excited to hear how the reunion goes.
  10. My three parrots and canary are all flighted. My canary and zon have never been clipped my greys were both clipped when I purchased them, although I asked that they not be. Breeders always think they know best. Ny parrots love to fly through my home and land on the different perches or cabinet tops in my rooms. As for flying outside, I know they would all take off and when they were tired land and then wonder where their dinner was and why I didn't come get them. Not a sight I wish to live.
  11. You might try asking your local veterinarian to board your birds. I replaced all my floors with tile or hardwood before I got my first parrot. Well worth it.
  12. I hope you get an answer soon. Good luck!
  13. If a person is your "friend" (you or that person asked the other to be 'friends' and were accepted) a + is added to their/your name (perhaps as a reminder???). In your profile you will see a place on the left side that lists your "friends" you have accepted.
  14. I always bathe my parrots/bird early enough in the day so that they can dry naturally. Using a hairdryer or towel removes natural oils that our greys/birds produce to groom their feathers and body. You wouldn't want to be responsible for your grey plucking feathers because her skin/feathers are dry. I love to watch my greys/zon preen their feathers after a good soaking. Priceless
  15. My male canary is named Captain Caruso for Enrico Caruso the Italian tenor. My canary is a marvelous singer. My Tag, Ana Grey: Name just came to me one day after I learned my tag is a girl. My Cag, Sterling Gris: Sterling is because he is sterling silver in color and Gris is French for Grey. My BF Zon, Louie, was named Louie when I adopted him and he knows and says the name all the time so how could I change it.
  16. Hi Grumpy, welcome to you and Cockey. I have a male Blue Front Amazon and he is not noisy at all and does his darndest to do what I ask. Looking forward to learning more about you and Cockey.
  17. Welcome home Delilah and welcome to the Grey family! Can't wait to hear how it goes in the coming days!
  18. Well I spoke to the owners of the Too. He is 10 years old and is a breeder. His mate escaped the aviary so he is basically useless to them. They raise different parrots/birds and the parrots live in a outdoor aviary. The Too is not an indoor bird and we agreed that he would not fit into my tame and friendly flock. So that's that. Thanks for the advice and consult my grey family. I shall not look in the newspaper ads again, I shall not look in the newspaper ads again, I shall not look in the newspaper ads again, I shall not look in the newspaper ads again...........
  19. I believe I am going to call this cockatoo's owner and see what is up. I will not rest until I do. Perhaps the Too has already found a home. I'll have to see, maybe.
  20. Jeff the Too is 8 years old. That is all the ad says plus the price. I have not called the ad because I am such a sucker and am trying to resist, honestly.
  21. Aww, Dave, always the voice of reason. I have been watching this ad for about a week now and I have been hoping that I would just forget about it. Something is drawing me to this Too and my instincts/intuition have always been good. I will continue to try to be resist. Maybe a few slaps in the head will help.
  22. Also, take your greys around and tap on any glass places to help ingrain into their hard heads that glass windows, door and mirrors are solid.
