1. Thanks all!!!! You are all simply the best!!!!
2. Flexible straws that I knot together are a big hit for Ana Grey. She will chew on those forever. Nice thing is they are free or very inexpensive.
3. Raleej is this a cage that you already own? And how old is your baby grey? I got mine at 4 months old and she is still about the same size at one year. She has just filled out some. Frankly, I'm not really love'n the thin wire either. That's why I ask the question.
4. Well hi and welcome to the forum. Is it that you no longer want Sydney to be a companion but a breeder? My understanding is that the two don't mix very well. We do have a few members who breed greys and have different companion greys so I'm sure they can answer your questions. But I would love to see some pictures of Sydney if you have any to share.
5. I have hanging boings and perches all over the house hanging from the ceiling. All close to where I sit or stand. In the beginning Ana Grey always wanted to be on me and I have just made that unavailable by removing her and telling her no and by having alternate close by places for her so she can still be close to me. Perhaps a table perch close to where your boyfriend sits might help.
6. My Ana Grey is a quiet bird and her first words at 10 months old were "What cha doing?". She won't say hello but she does say "Thank you". She is always grumbling. So be patient, if your grey is meant to talk, she will in her own time. Just be patient.
7. Personally Penny, I think you are awesome. I wish you were around a lot more to talk with us. But it gives me a sense of calm when I look at the list of those present and see your name even if you aren't posting. I consider you a real confidante and a large part of why this forum runs so well. With your busy life, I'm just delighted that you still find time for us-- Your Grey Family! Best wishes to you and yours!!!!
8. 24/7 on non-perishables. Fresh water every morning and night.

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/09/24 23:47
9. What great photos Lyn! Tia looks like a little love muffin and Megan is so in charge. Like your horses, but I am allergic to horses, they like to step on my feet! Thank Alfie for sharing his flock with us, four footed and human!
10. Okay, this question is driving me nuts! After they make Styrofoam, what do they ship it in?
11. In the summer Ana Grey's baths are cool and I make them room temperature in the cooler weather. I use a small bottle to spray my fids with so having the aloe vera out of the fridge is no problem. I just fill it from the larger jug in the fridge as needed.
12. I use tap water to bathe my grey at least 3 times a week. She doesn't pluck. I mist her almost daily with Aloe Vera juice and that keeps her feathers soft and flake free. She loves the misting and fluffs out her feathers and spreads her wings so the spray can penetrate down to her skin. She gets really soaked. I have done this since she was 4 months old.
13. Very cute Lyn!!! Thanks for sharing! Love the picture of Tia!
14. I don't cater to my fids. I always have fresh pellets and dried vegetables and fruits available for them 24/7 so I feed them fresh vegetables and foods that I choose. If they don't eat them then they have to eat the pellets and dried foods that I know are good for them. Their seeds and nuts are treats for when they are out of their cages and they really enjoy then.
15. Congratulations Tom on Bailey's talking! The dam is now broken!!! How exciting!!! Can't wait to hear more about what Bailey has to say!
16. Hi Amy welcome to you and Chloe. Hopefully now that your husband has graduated he will have more time for Chloe. My Ana Grey is noisy until I acknowledge her. She just wants to be recognized. So when I leave the room I tell her I'll be back. When she whistles for me I whistle back and let her know I'm around. My fids are happy as long as they can see me but they have lots of foraging toys and hanging perches around the house. Hope to hear more about Chloe. Pictures please!
17. Ana Grey has always slept on her cement perch, the highest place in her cage. When she is tired she zips up there. If she is still up when I decide she should be sleeping, I just tell her nite, nite and she goes to her sleep perch no problem. I don't cover her cage I just turn off the lights and shut the door. I would love to see Argyle sleeping, that must be such a cute/funny sight!!!
18. Well I hope Bernie's sweet wife made him a Hot Toddy to help him sleep soundly!!!! I'll drink to that!!!
19. Congrats on the new laptop Pat! In the beginning Ana Grey tried to help me type but I kiboshed that pronto. You do know the important things you need to type about don't have n's in them--like: Jeepers, Tyco, Darius and Adaya so you really should be good to go!!!!
20. Caroline, you are the very best! Thank you for all you have done for me!!!! And Jill you don't need skates you are doing great on your own two feet! Thanks all!
21. I've given coconut to the fids but haven't tried just the oil.
22. Welcome to the grey family! We would love to see some pictures of Coral!
23. Great link Adina! Thanks for sharing! I'm a grey but at heart, I'm a cockatoo!

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/09/24 19:40
24. I would spray it with vinegar and water and then wipe it off.
