  1. Well then, let the sunlight in!!!! I am a firm believer in our parrots getting oodles of sunlight. Mine love the outdoors and I see that they go out wherever possible. I live in Washington State, the Webfoot State, or so it is nicknamed. *Issac is one of my favorite reads.
  2. Howdy to you and JB. Looking forward to seeing some pictures and hearing more about JB and your pocket parrot.
  3. Issac is very attuned to you, I believe. If the avian vet says Issac is healthy, how is your health and how are other things going? Perhaps he is seeing/feeling something attached to you. Just a thought. Check it out. I don't think anyone thinks you have anything but good thoughts and great love for Issac and he for you. I have always been so touched by how devastated you were when he escaped once and how he came back looking for you, calling for you. I remember such a loving and unbelievable attachment. One frankly, I have always been quite jealous of.
  4. Excellent ending! Thanks for sharing this happy story with us!
  5. Hi Lori, welcome to the Grey family. Looking forward to traveling your greyt adventure with you.
  6. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes in July.
  7. Hi Josh and family. Congratulations on becoming a member of the Grey family. You will not be disappointed if you have done all your homework. Parrots do want to be part of the family so talk, explain and show and everyone will be happy. Getting a baby is wonderful. Just remember you are her parronts and she will only learn what you teach her. Enjoy.
  8. Hi David, welcome to you and Jocke. Your English is magnificent and I commend anyone who speaks/writes more than one language. Kudos to you. Jocke is lucky to have found you. I have an amazon who was not well treated before he came to live with me about 4 years ago. He and I have an understanding and he is a love. Louie bites if I try to touch him but he follows me around and does everything I ask of him, just don't touch him. I believe you and Jocke will work things out and you will be rewarded for your kindness to him. Welcome to the Grey family.
  9. Welcome to you robin4b and Max. Looking forward to learning more about Max and getting to know you both.
  10. The first thing I would do is contact the African authorities and see if they even want these greys. Also, with the trapping and smuggling of the greys already there, these "socialized" greys would probably be quickly recaptured and smuggled back to us and resold. Great idea but........
  11. Perhaps the person you purchased the grey from could give you the name and phone number of the person who owned this grey before she purchased it. That person might have more information. As the buyer of "used" goods it was up to you to be diligent in getting all the information available at the time of purchase. The breeder probably gave you the information she had received from the person she got the bird from. Enjoy this sweet grey, there are many, many years of companionship available here if you will just open your heart.
  12. Rosita is looking good as is her new cage.
  13. We all know how much Issac means to you and how frustrating his plucking has been. I do believe he just reacted to your illness. So stay healthy so Issac can relax too. Issac is looking good.
  14. All greys are different. Mine love to sit at the windows and long to be outside. All they have to do is see their travel cages and they are very willing to come out of their cages and into the wire travel cages because they know it is outdoor porch time. Sterling Gris climbs on the patio drapes all the time in hopes he will get to go outside. I have to be very careful that he does not sneak out when I go in or out. Louie sits on the drapes also hoping to escape. My parrots love the outdoors.
  15. Looks very nice. I so want a outdoor aviary for my gang. Thanks for more ideas!
  16. Hero looks very happy in his dorm life. Looking forward to learning more about the two of you. Welcome to the Grey family.
  17. Also talk to your grey, let him know what you are doing or going to do. They so want to learn and be part of the flock.
  18. That sounds wonderful. Just relax and let your grey take the lead. Eat some nuts or apple in front of him and then offer him his own piece or slice. It just takes time and patience.
  19. All I have to do is open a parrot's cage and out they pop. When they come out is up to them. Just open the door and let your grey come out as he wants. Patience is usually the most difficult for new owners. Entice your grey to come to you with treats that he would love to have.
  20. You certainly have a busy household with your fids. I do not envy you.
  21. Oh my. Louie is 6 and none of this is going on. Thank goodness.
  22. I saw this the other day. My Louie is a rehome and did have a hard life before coming here. He is a biter if you try to touch him. But he does not break skin and I believe if is just a warning. I do not try to invoke a bite. Cute video.
  23. http://www.windycityparrot.com/Airline-Underseat-Travel-Carrier-for-Small-to-Medium-Parrots-Animals-by-Doskocil_p_1055.html#.U2HKH_ldXUV http://www.wag.com/bird/p/prevue-pet-products-travel-cage-white-127428 I have both these two travel cages. The underseat one was used from Washington to California in SW airlines for my daughter's puppy. The larger is collapsible and I have used them for my parrots for over the weekend caging and transport back and forth. I have three of each one for each parrot.
  24. I believe that is the side of the cage you are one. Right? Move to the front where the door is open and see what happens.
