  1. Nice video. Solomon seems very happy.
  2. I knew you were a romantic at heart. Wonderful story. Reminds me of the love my father had for my mother.
  3. Plucking has different reasons for occurring. The cause does not have to do anything with a care provider treatment or care. My neighbors, a son and mother, have a male eclectus. Much loved, and cared for. He is a chronic plucker and has been for his 15+ years that I have known him. Plucked when rescued from a pet shop, plucked when he lived with me and plucked to this day with his new forever home. Sully loves his care providers and they love him. I see them together all the time. A perfect match. I have a warm place in my heart for Sully and he for me. After he went to live with my neighbors they brought him over when we played cards. Sully walked from his owner's shoulder to mine. Pecked/kissed me on the cheek with his beak and walked back. Brought tears to my eyes as I believe it was his way of thanking me for finally giving him a warm and loving home where he is safe and much loved. Priceless.
  4. Sounds like fun. I too love to hear and watch my birdies fly. They do not play together but they do have their pecking order. Ana Grey first, Sterling Gris and then Louie. To me, the sound of flying birds is priceless.
  5. I had Ana Grey's breeder pluck a few feathers as her last act. That way, she was the bad guy not me. I popped them in the collect bag the sexing place sent me and all was good. My cag, came sexed by his breeder and my zon also came to me as being sexed by the former owner.
  6. I truly believe our animals/pets can sense lots of things. So can people if they just open up to it. I talk to my parrots all the time. We understand each other, I believe.
  7. True, true this is a very caring group of people. I have learned oodles here and enjoy the members every day.
  8. Very true response Dan, thanks. As for my feelings about Issac and Elvenking. This is one parront and fid that I love to watch and read about. They so love each other it is a joy to watch and read about. The last thing we want to do is break a grey's spirit. Greys are so intelligent and so want to learn from us and yes, teach us too. Looking forward to hearing about Issac's full recovery from his little burp.
  9. Great update. Inara runs your household beautifully. Good job!
  10. I have only good thoughts about this vet visit. Be relaxed and talk to Peck. Our greys so want to belong and be part of the flock. If you are relaxed and sharing so will Peck, I believe. Those nails do certainly need a little care.
  11. Very nice picture of Sukei. It is great to hear how well he is doing.
  12. You know, my Ana Grey trusts me and none of my parrots have a "fear" for me. But they are birds and if they could fly outdoors I know they would. They trust me and are "bonded" to me. But each of them would take flight and fly to their hearts content until dinner time and then I believe they would be perched somewhere just waiting for me to come get them for their dinner and wondering why their parront didn't come get them. They are birds and have wings for flight and you know if I could fly I would do the same. Being free has nothing to do with bonding. It is just a beautiful thing, flight.
  13. My parrots have never "blamed" me for the vet. I take them and the assistant and vet are the ones who treat them, not me. I do not go into the room with them. I am just waiting to take them home. Do reassure them with soft words, treats and a trip home to safety. Not one of the three as ever "blamed" me.
  14. Oh pictures of this aviary room, please. I am so jealous. It is so hard to carry out three cages on the warm days. I so want an aviary off the birdroom for my gang. I need ideas.
  15. This is great. You are so in tune with your greys. All we have to do is pay attention and they try so hard to let us know what they want and do as you ask. I too can't wait until both greys can meet each other. But this "alone" time between you and Peck is good for both of you and priceless.
  16. What a handsome young man. I have always been partial to red hairs. Jaxin is a true animal lover. It will be great to watch them grow together.
  17. Truly enjoy your posts about Peck. I love to watch the progress of his knowing finally that he belongs. Very happy for both of you.
  18. Just remember when parrots fly they exhale all the air in their lungs so when they inhale, if the air is full of smelly odors, so are their lungs.
  19. Scramble eggs in red palm oil with peas and diced carrots. Parrots love them at least once a week.
  20. Thanks for the reminder. I never take my parrots out of their cages outside. I understand that a owl statue will keep hawks away.
  21. If you are worried about Sully's health then take him to an avian vet. If Sully looks and acts fine and is eating, I wouldn't worry. Some times our greys just want to chill. Open the cage door and let Sully come out or stay in as he wants. Talk to him and just see what he wants to do. I find eating something my parrots like across the room is a sure way to get them to come to me and steal my food.
  22. My parrots do not make up words but do combine words in their own ways or leave out words in phrases I say.
  23. Congrats on your very smart birdie. My Sterling Gris is my big talker. He repeats anything he hears including a swear word or two. Be careful what you say. They do not forget.
  24. I have a exhaust fan in my hall between my three bedrooms. Is this what you are talking about. The fans are in the ceiling with a cover. Not even my canary could get though so I don't worry. My system is both heating and cooling combined.
