  1. When my greys bob their heads up and down they are happy.
  2. Louie, BF zon, is a true gentleman. He is always last. His choice. Louie is now 6. Although I cannot touch him without a bite. He comes out of his cage and goes into it without too much trouble. He loves to follow me from room to room. I believe all you have to do is see that your Amazon knows what you want and they do their darndest to oblige and if you will just watch and listen they will show you want they need in return. Equal time, no, everyone gets time in Louie's mind. One at a time. Parrots are all different just like people, all you have to do is pay attention. I believe, they try to understand their human owners so we need to oblige them as well.
  3. Stanley has some growing to do that's for sure. Very cute.
  4. Sully seems to like his new perch. Good job!
  5. Welcome Chris and Mama Mia. Great name for a grey. Looking forward to learning more about Mama Mia. I would love to see some pictures of your aviary as I so want to build one for my three. As others have asked, pictures please. We love pictures.
  6. Welcome to the Grey family Tablamsmitch. There is no way to make a grey like one person more than another. They have their own attitudes and feelings. That's what we love most about them. I live alone so I do not have this problem with my gang. It's me or no one. I do have a rehomed BF zon that prefers guys but he and I have an understanding and we have worked out an arrangement that works for both of us. You might try letting your grey come to you. Be eating something he really likes and let him come to you to share.
  7. I believe we have some threads in the Health Room about imping. I wish your tag luck if this is something that is really necessary. Would it not be just as well to let new feathers grow in on their own?
  8. You might try closing the drapes and turning off the lights to darken the room to get Peck back in his cage. Most birds will return to their cages more easily if they believe it is evening time. I at one time has a parrot that I rehomed who was very much afraid of dowels/sticks. Apparently his former owner would threaten him with sticks/dowels and he would hide at the sight of them. Peck may be afraid of sticks and dowels from prior times.
  9. Can't wait to see some pictures. I am looking for ideas. My California daughter is coming up this spring to get one up for me.
  10. Louie is a very active guy. He loves to fly and looks to follow me from room to room. His eyes always look like they are smiling. He is a joy to have around.
  11. This is wonderful to read. I am so proud of Peck and look forward to hearing more. Life is good in a home with greys. Fantastic!
  12. Louie is now 6 years old. Louie has never been clipped and loves to fly. If you remember he speaks English and Hindu. I cannot handle him but he goes in and out of his cage as I ask so we are both happy. He loves to chew on my ears and preen my hair so we do have some issues. All and all he is a happy guy and I love him to pieces. http://s407.photobucket.com/user/JanetMoulton/media/MVI_0087_zpsbdaa5cc3.mp4.html
  13. Hello Arthur. It would certainly be nice to hear more about your "free range" grey. Where are you living, in the USA or other country? Pictures would be great. If you have any with your grey out in her tree, I would love to see them. My CAG falls sometimes at night. He is a clumsy guy and he is 3 years old. I have had him since he was 5 months old and falling at night is something he does occasionally. I use to run and see if he is all right, but now I just listen to hear him climb back up his cage. If he is not complaining I go back to sleep. Sterling Gris is a scaredy cat, always has been. Looking forward to hearing more about your free range grey. Welcome to the Grey family.
  14. Welcome to the Grey family amartin. Bella sounds like a lovely lady. Just follow her lead. Is she flighted or clipped? I give my parrots small pieces of cheddar cheese. And yes most parrots love it. About once a week is the schedule of cheese for my fids. As for the misting my parrots love it. I mist them with a fine sprayer outside their cages. They love to sit on top of their playtops and open their wings and get totally soaked. I would just follow Bella's lead and take things slowly. When she is ready to be handled she will let you know. Talk to her. My parrots love to listen to me talk to them. They so want to understand what we would like them to do so just show Bella. There are oodles of threads here on the forum with more information and answers to most questions so, read, read, read. When you get a chance we would love to see some pictures of Bella.
  15. They look very calm and okay with each other. Bet you are relieved. My parrots let each other go into their cages. They just watch. No aggression. Of course only one parrot in a cage at time.
  16. I believe that will be a good thing for both greys. They seem relaxed and just waiting to see how it goes with each other. Looking forward to watching more.
  17. That is just the cutest thing I have seen all day. Thanks for the big smile and great laugh.
  18. I truly believe that you will do what is right for Maggie Mae. If she has bonded to her new friend, I believe you will leave her and move on. We all love our parrots and want to do what is right for them. Can't wait to hear how it goes. Fingers crossed Maggie Mae will come out a winner.
  19. Louie loves to sit in my hanging plants and eat the leaves. Sit on top of my living room curtain rod and view the going on or if I am washing dishing or just have the water on sitting on my shoulder and biting my ear. His favorite spot is in a room were he can see me. He loves to follow me around. The joys of a flighted zon.
  20. Welcome home. I remember you and am very glad that you will be back in the USA and get to see Maggie Mae. Here's hoping all goes well for the three of you.
  21. I certainly do not envy those whose parrots are chewers or fighters. Mine get along just great and are not chewers so I consider myself blessed. Mine believe that Ana Grey is the boss so if she flies to a room, eats something, goes into her cage then so will they. Louie just has to be last. The guard of the flock.
  22. Thanks Talon. Added to my "ideas" and "possibilities".
  23. I watched the breeder pull a few feathers from under the wings. No bleeding or even a sound. She popped them into a baggie and I sent it off.
  24. Wonderful post. All you have to do is open your heart. Animals are so loving if you give them a chance and try to understand them as they do us.
  25. Eagles one of my favorite birds to watch. Wish I could have one that would fly free and return to me on call. Dream on......
