Greys are great body readers. They are very intuitive and are always watching people. Is your wife afraid of the grey? If she is, your grey senses this and reacts to it.

Talon & Rikki's Reaction to My Daughters Visit Home
Luvparrots replied to Talon's topic in The GREY Lounge
What a relief to know that your greys are happy to see your daughter. Pictures would be a real treat (hint, hint). -
So very sorry.

Way to go. Our greys are so amazing. Congrats to you for having such a smart little grey!

This morning, I cleaned Lulu's toys and perches while she was in her cage. She is not aggressive at all. Frankly she is a very gentle and person friendly little lady .It took awhile to get Lulu to come out of her cage but at last she ventured out to the top. I immediately closed her cage as she will only stay out a few minutes and then back in she goe s. Louie was excited that Lulu was out and tried to touch her. Lulu would have nothing to do with him and ran him off with nips. Lulu is not clipped but does not fly well. I have a feeling Lulu was not allowed out very often, which is a shame but hopefully my fully flighted gang will get Lulu up up and away in no time. Lulu stepped up beautifully and I took her into the living room and on to a stand. She enjoyed pistachios and after an hour or two was ready to go back to her cage. Lulu is a very quiet zon perhaps because she is older, I do not know. She fits in nicely.

Hi to you and Annie. Looking forward to hearing more about her as she gets use to her new home. Welcome to the Grey family!

Lulu is very gentle but so is Louie. Louie just does not want to be touched by a female. If you remember the women in her former home put her outside when the hubby her provider became ill. I believe they were not kind to him. Louie flies to my shoulder and to me as long as I do not touch him. He loves my young 5-year old grandson, JJ, and takes food from him no problem. I totally love Louie and he is a sweetheart. I had no idea you had had experience with a mean male zon. But Louie is no such fid.

Talon, you know my Louie is a biter. I have said it for the 4 1/2 years I have had him with me. He will bite me if I try to touch him, always. As long as I do not try to handle him he follows me around the house and goes in and out of his cage at my request. A neutral ground is what you and Nilah need. I do not believe in punishment. I do not "ground" my gang, I scold and they know what each of my tones of voice mean. From what I hear from the forum anytime anyone does something their grey/parrot dislikes, the grey/parrot gets even. I do not want a war in my home just an understanding. Relax and reassess your goal and how to accomplish it. You know Nilah's personality better than anyone and each parrot is different.

Here they are Louie on the left and Lulu on the right. They look just alike although Louie is only 6 years old and Lulu is 33 years old. I can tell them apart because Louie has a red ring on his leg and his blue crown is more prominent. Both are flighted and have never been clipped although Lulu does not fly as well as Louie as I believe she was not allowed out of her cage and full range of the home as my Louie is. We will try to correct that once she is comfortable coming out of her cage. Louie tries to lure Lulu out but she is not ready. Lulu is quite friendly and does not try to bite so I am hopeful that she will help Louie learn that I really am not a "monster" and will not cook him up for dinner. I don't know what I was thinking adding another parrot to the flock but what is done is done and when they said she is yours free because we like what we see here; I couldn't resist. Lulu is a doll and Louie is fascinated by her although Lulu does not seem to care one way or the other about Louie, poor guy. Lulu is a quiet little lady as Louie is a quiet gentleman so I couldn't ask for more. Sweet Lulu

So this has been the second day of having Lulu around. She is a quiet lady and Louie just won't leave her alone. Lulu came out of her cage after the others were out. Louie hustled right over with me right there ( I do not know how they will react and I do not want any fighting). Lulu nipped at Louie and made him leave. Of course Louie came right back and Lulu nipped and shooed him away again and again and again. A question for any breeders in the forum: I am assuming that there can't be any hanky panky with Lulu and Louie because Lulu is over 30 years old and Louie is only 6. Right????? I realize that BF amazons can live until 60-100 years but 30 years old should be an infertile time right. Of course Lulu could be a male but the former owners thought she was a female and because Louie is a guy I want to be safe. Louie does like to follow her around and beak her and Lulu wants nothing to do with him. I will not be sexing Lulu because well she is older and I do not want to harm her. Any advice for the safety of my zons would be appreciated.

Very nice introduction. Looking forward to watching Echo grow.

Lulu is a sweetheart. Frankly her personality is like Louie's except she is not afraid. I have not tried to take her out of her cage as I want the parrots to get use to each other. My understanding is that Lulu loves people so we will see. I will be asking for your assistance I am sure. Louie has check her out but now he has calmed down so perhaps she is a guy. Only time will time. I am debating whether to sex Lulu or not. It really does not matter to me as long as the zons don't fight. The gang are all eating dinner and Lulu has a healthy appetite so it looks like she has settled right in. We will see.

All righty now I went and did an "Out of the Blue" thingy. I now have Tallulah a Blue Front Amazon. The prior owners believe Tallulah is a female, we will see. Tallulah was owned by this couple since 1983 and she was 2 years old they think when they got her (hey this couple is older than me so you know how it is). They are moving to a manufactured home and Tallulah I guess does not fit. Tallulah looks just like Louie except the blue on her head is less prominent than Louie's and she has no yellow on the top of her right wing as Louie has a very prominent patch. I will provide pictures when I get a chance. Tallulah is appropriately 32 years old and Louie is 6 years old. The prior owners are willing to talk to me if I need any info so I am hopeful all will go well. Tallulah, cage and stand were a gift so I could not refuse could I????? Tallulah only eats a seed mix and some veggies now and then so we will have to work on that.

Here's hoping all is well for you and good health is now going to be following you around.

Looking for reputable CAG breeder on the west coast
Luvparrots replied to oneday's topic in The GREY Lounge
You might try Tom & Gail Smiley in Colton, Oregon. 503-824-4059. I purchased my Congo from them about 3-4 years ago and I am quite happy with him. He is a big guy and a great talker. -
http://www.birdsnow.com/congoafricangreyparrotoregon.htm. I do not know this breeder just found it on the internet.
