  5. i wonder how many "endangered" or "extinct" species are just "hiding out" so that they can stay safe and unmolested? Thanks for the post Ozzysmom.
  6. There are boo-coo Congo/CAGs here at the Grey Forums, but I have a Timneh/TAG and Ana Grey is a little gal, I think. What I would like to know is how much do other members TAGs weigh?? Is Ana Grey average, overweight or small?? I'm hoping that others will post their TAG's weight so I can see if Ana Grey is a normal weighed grey. Ana Grey will be 2 years old 08/06/10. Ana Grey weighs: 292 grams. What does your TAG weigh????
  7. I love my fids more than I or life can say we're usually together most all the day If I had the resources there would be more There'd be a macaw, amazon, parrotlet, cockatoo.. why that's four So if you have an unwanted lonely feathered friend sent him to me and I'll do my best proper mend and his loneliness and sadness will come to a happy end. What fun Julie!!!
  8. Looking forward to seeing your homemade toy!!!!! It's going to be marvelous!!
  9. My Ana Grey and I have a morning ritual. I feed her breakfast in her cage and then when I am ready, I open the door. She immediately, seldom fails, comes out and sits on the open door. I say, "good morning Booba give me a kiss" and she complies with a beak on the cheek. I say "step up" and up she steps or I say "come here" and she comes to me. After that she normal just follows me around by flying. If I am sitting on my lounge chair in the living room and I want her I call, "come here" and she comes usually. If she doesn't then I better go see what mischief she could be in. Is this type of thing what you are looking for??? I just treat her like she is a 3-4 year old child because she seems to understand me but if I don't watch, like any child, she will find things to do that I might not like. Ana Grey is my friend and I try to respect her. At night around 7 pm my ekkie always goes to bed and expects to have the lights out, but that's another story, so I replenish water and food. Ana Grey seems to just go to her cage then for the goodies and I close her cage door. If I say "nite, nite" she will immediately go to her sleeping perch and I turn off the lights and the birdroom door is closed. If Ana Grey for some reason does not go to her cage, I just say nite nite and turn off the lights leaving the bedroom door open. Ana Grey gets the message and goes to her cage and night perch and I go back in and close her cage door and close the bedroom door. During the day if I have to leave the house or feel Ana Grey should be in her cage, I just ask her to step up and place my other hand over her head and walk her back to her cage, telling her that I have to leave or whatever and I'll be back. As for toweling, she is not afraid of a towel, I sometimes cover her over with one and we play around with a towel just so she is use to one being over her, and this is just in case of an emergency. This works for my grey and me. I think when you get your grey, you will see the difference in her and other species. Greys understand. Ana Grey sometimes cocks her head and listens to me intensely and I know she understands, or at least in trying to understand what I am saying.
  10. Hi Vabr, what a great little flock you have there. I can't wait to see some pictures of everyone when you get a chance. I am especially interested in your male eclectus. We have a great Other Birds Room so you can show him off, as well as your quakers and cockatiel. I look forward to hearing about everyone. Welcome to the Grey family!!!
  11. Yes this works for Ana Grey and I because she is a very calm and loving grey. Perhaps being a TAG helps but I believe it is the way she was cared by her breeder and the loving and socialization she got from the beginning. I also joined this forum before I brought Ana Grey home and frankly was shocked about how cage aggressive and fearful some of the greys were. I chose to try and see if I could keep this from happening to my grey. From the beginning I have handled and touched her and she is very trusting of me. Oh she nips at me, but she has never really tried to bite down on me only show her displeasure, ie the hate of the harness and the struggles to get one on her. She and I argue and have our conflicts but I have never hurt her and she has absolutely no fear of me. The first thing Mike the falconer asked me when I called about an anklet and gear was can you touch your grey's legs. I assured him I could and that I could touch Ana Grey all over and we were truly buds. That's the reason he helped me. Besides like I said before he as made similar gear for other people as well. The equipment for Ana Grey is made much lighter than it is for falcons as Ana Grey is much smaller. She trusts me and that is the only reason I believe this has worked for us.
  12. Happy Hatchday Tobie!!!! My, my but you are a handsome laddie!!! I hope you had a great day with many, many, many, many more to come!!!! it's great having you and your parront here!!! I know that evil vet visit turned out with an excellent bill of health for you!!!
  13. Washington State has hawks galore that's what scares me so much!!!
  14. Wow Dr. Flock, now I am jealous!!!!! I have a couple of bird houses outside and not even an inquiry about the rent from one bird!!!!! Great pictures. Can't wait to see what happens next year!!!
  15. This the only reason I don't let Ana Grey fly on a long lead. The scary thing is that this in a "controlled" situation, gone awry:
  16. Ana Grey have been outside enjoying the grey sky and windy breeze. Ana Grey is been wearing her anklet and jesse and we have been walking around the neighborhood sidewalk. She lets me put it on her easily and she didn't try to take flight. I guess she knows she won't be going anywhere. I am ecstatic about the success we are having. I would have posted pictures but I forgot to charge my camera. Next time!!!!
  17. Jules, you are simply the best!!!!!
  18. Yuck Julie!!!!! Now clean up the mess!!!!
  19. Oops have been watching my soaps instead!!!! Brazil!!!
