  1. I agree it is a shame that we can't tell the age of our re-homed greys/fids unless we can follow their history. As for my eclectus I know he is at least 10 years old. The owner of the pet shop had him and tried to re-home him for 7 1/2 years. He was found in a car wash and the pet shop was called to come get him. I have had Sully for about a year-and-three months. He was not a baby when he was found and was already a plucker so I guess he is at least 10. I say he is older than the hills because he just acts old. He doesn't play but like to be with me and wants to be in a cage. He must have the lights out at 7:00 pm or he screams bloody murder. I wish I knew how old he is.
  2. How long have you had your grey? Are you trying to get her to go back into her cage? Please tell us a little more about your grey so that we can better help you. If I want my grey to go back into her cage and she doesn't want to I bribe her. She loves nuts and seeds so I just put some in to her food dish and she goes back into her cage. I save her seeds and nuts for the evening so this is easy to do. I certainly would not be grabbing your grey as that will definitely break any thrust your grey has in you.
  3. Oh so sorry. After I told the local pet shop owner that my male eclectus was hormonal she told me about her macaw that bite the beak off a friend's quaker and strongly warned me that I should keep a close eye on the eclectus and my grey. Which, of course, I always do. I'm so glad your mother's bird will be fine.
  4. Great question. I have an older re-homed eclectus that I believe is older than the hills. He is pretty set in his ways and very easy going. Calm and unchangeable.
  5. I got my grey when she was 4 months old. I bathed her within the first week. She loves the water!!!!!!
  6. Congratulations Judy you and Josey are made for each other. On the other hand, I don't think a hamster is my kind of pet!!!!!!
  7. Love, Hope and Charity are the three names I choose for these precious little lives.
  8. Thanks Dave, I always felt guilty I didn't share my stuffed animals with my fids. Now I don't have to feel so guilty, what a relief!!!!!!
  9. I only have the one cage for my grey which is in the bird room. Ana Grey is usually out all day and uses her boings and perches during the day. I do have a travel cage/emergency cage for her that is collapsible. http://www.thecountryroost.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=28_29
  10. Well hello Rikki!!! We don't great to hear enough about Rikki and Talon!!!! Thanks Melissa!
  11. You could always make your own. How about an old tree branch in an umbrella stand, perhaps!!!

Great looking B&G Hill. I think they are beautiful but way too much bird for me. Thanks for sharing your fids with us!
  16. That's great news Rierie. Way to go Charlie, keep those little doggies in line!!!
  17. I live alone and I don't regret it one bit. I have my Ana Grey and she is jealous of other pets. To get over the "crazy bird lady" syndrome I have re-homed an older ecelctus who really needed a nice quiet place to live. He is a jewel. I also recent purchased a singing canary to feel my house with song. So I am limiting myself to needs not wants. It least that's what I tell myself!!!!
  18. Will check it out Dr. Flock!!!! Thanks!
  19. Great video of Rene!!!!! He certainly is a cutie!!!! Thanks for sharing!
  20. How wonderful the grey was rescued. Perhaps one of our UK members can follow this story up for us (hint, hint)!
  21. My fids are dropping feathers downy and long feathers all over their cages. I can't wait for the molting to end. Fingers crossed that my re-homed eclectus will be able to fly soon. Bezzina hopefully your fid's vet will be able to tell you that your grey is also just molting.
