  1. Great pictures of Hannah after her bath!!!
  2. So glad everything worked out for the best!!!! Hooray for Milo, what a smart little guy!!!
  3. When I re-homed my older bird (a male eclectus) I changed his name from Butch (he was a terrible plucker) to Solomon aka Sully. When I picked him up he was having Campbell chicken noodle soup for lunch, I immediately changed his diet. I popped him into a larger cage when I got him home to his new forever home and the two of us never looked back. For us, new home, new life, new atmosphere, all for the good. Sully has stopped plucking, stopped screaming and has out-of-the-cage time from morning to evening. I smile every time an old feather dies and I throw that stressed lined feather in the trash. Hopefully Sully will be flying soon after 71/2 years of being clipped!! (he has been with me for just over a year) I believe it all depends on the circumstances and what you feel is best for your new friend by what he expresses to you in his body language and his comfort with you. Take things slow at Madison's (or whatever you decide to name him) pace.
  4. Great looking Avatar Pam! So glad you decided to officially join the Grey family! I look forward to hearing more from you!!!!
  5. Love the pictures especially the last couple of them where it looks like Cocoa is asking for a scratch as if he believes the new chick is there as his personal groomer!! I look forward to watching this little guy flourish under your care!!!
  6. My grey is now flighted (she was cllipped when she came to live with me) and my re-homed ecelectus was clipped for at least 7 1/2 years before he came to live with me and I am still hopeful he will be able to fly again. My canary also has out-of-cage time in the AM and PM. I do believe our fids are much happier flighted BUT if I felt that anyone of my bird's well-being required that it be clipped I would. Never say never things change, I just hope I never have to clip my birds, it would break my heart as well as theirs.
  7. So glad to hear that you are going to let your grey take flight!!! Welcome to the Grey family!!!
  8. I have spouting kit, I might give it another try!!!
  9. Great pictures of Milo's outside perch!!! Thanks for sharing Steve!!!
  10. My grey enjoys playing with plastic golf practice balls. You can get that by the dozen at bi-mart and such stores. I also save my gallon milk bottle caps for her to toss around. How about some plastic poker chips???
  11. Little Birdies!!! by Anthony F. Lewis I have just finishing reading this totally delightful book. This is not your typical Sci-if read. It starts of with Dan Grant who for 30 years built a nationally successful wholesale pet supply business which he sold for a handsome eight figure price. The unmarried avian lover has a to-die-for aviary complete with waterfall and temperature controls. Dan Grant was blessed with financial resources that allowed him to retire early. This summer his orthopedic surgeon brother has asked Dan to watch his 17-year-old niece and 13-year-old nephew for the summer, which Dan readily agrees to do. The ball starts to roll in this story when Dr. Donald Ross, a Rockerfeller University professor, ask his class to participate in a transgenic study, the subjects, transgenic greys, will be from genetically enhanced sperm cells, injected with NE2B human gene, used to fertilize ovum removed from a grey parrot hen. All goes along swimmingly until an unscrupulous news reporter prints a story about the transgenic greys that causes politicians and religious groups to storm the university with moral and religious consequences. All this hubbub causes the university president, Dr. Pradesh, to demand that Dr. Ross destroy the six transgenic greys and dismantle his study for the good of the university. Needless to say Dr. Ross does not remove the transgenic greys as ordered and in the course of two years, a young man from the Wildlife Division of DEC, a University Professor, a eccentric well-heeled avian lover, and two teenagers take extreme measures to save 12 (wait a minute I said there were only 6 transgenic greys, who are these characters?????? LOL) 15 lb. transgenic greys with a wingspan of over 7 feet, and manus claws on their wings from destroying the wildlife, crops, and the New York Hudson River Valley when they escape from their sanctuary!!!!! Enjoy!!!
  12. Much too cute Steve!!!!!!!
  13. Nice update on Issac!!! Not to worry the words will come!!!!
  14. Oh I wish I was a Too person, but alas I am not!!! I hope you find a new forever home for this little guy!
  15. Congratulations on your new baby Kim! A TAG how wonderful. I can't wait to see your baby pictures. Welcome to the Grey family!!
  16. How scary for Cocoa. I'm glad she is all right.
  17. My grey is one who loves to be with me. She loves to be close by but I don't cuddle her all the time. I can lay her on her back in my hand and give her scratches on her head and when I call her she comes flying if she wants to, but she does not like to be confined in my arms or in my hands all the time. Perhaps you should look into having a cockatoo, they want to be someone most of the time and are very dependent.
  18. My grey is out of her cage most of the day. She flies from room to room and lands on her perches, boings or my recliner/desk chair as she pleases. At night around 7 pm I put dried veggies, nuts and fruits in her "snack" bowl and she goes into her cage for a snack. I close the door and tell her nite, nite.
  19. What was the routine your parents used in their home with Murphy?? Perhaps Murphy liked that routine better?? Frankly, as long as Murphy is healthy and all right, I would just act normally with Murphy and get him back into a routine you both like.
  20. Cocoa certainly does love hiking!!!!
  21. Hi Squid, welcome to you, Eric, Echo and your two conures. I look forward to seeing pictures of your little flock and getting to know you all!! Welcome to the Grey family!
  22. My grey is quieter some days more than others. Perhaps your grey is just adjusting to her new supplements and recuperating from her vet visit. If she doesn't snap out of it in a day or two, I would revisit the vet just to be on the safe side.
  23. Ana Grey has a ball similar to the one in Emma's video. She enjoys really enjoys it.
