    Ekie

I have a male ekkie I rehomed a year and a-half ago. He has yellow and white coming in with his new feathers. He was totally plucked front and back when I got him. His diet was terrible and frankly he was a mess. His diet is much better, he is much calmer and I am just grateful he has stopped plucking. Perhaps someday he will have green feathers again.
  2. Thanks for the great update Deb. Glad to hear you and Romo now have a happy medium. Are greys are such intelligent creatures and can be wonderful companions with a little give and take. I look forward to hearing more about Romo!
  3. Interesting observation Dan. I guess I never use the yes term with my fids and the no seldom. I say things like, Want some apple, and if Ana Grey wants some she repeats the phrase or follows me to go get the apple/nut. Or I say, Stop that, and if she has done something bad, she will repeat the phrase.
  4. Very nice treehouse! Dante and Flame should be very proud of their play area.
  5. Hi Graham and Cleo. I look forward to hearing more about Cleo and seeing her pictures. Welcome to the Grey family!
  6. My ekkie was a chronic plucker and with Dave007's help, I have been able to turn him around. Sully problems were caused by the situation he was in. He enjoys calm and serenity and no stress and that is what he has now. He is very set in his ways and it has only been recently that he has sat for 30 minutes outside of a cage. This is a very big accomplishment for Sully and I am so proud of him. It has also appeared that he is no longer plucking. I have had him for a year and a half and it has been only in the last six months that he has stopped plucking. I am praying that on his 2nd anniversary I will be proudly showing everyone pictures of a more or less fully feathered male eclectus. Fingers-crossed.
  7. Welcome to the Grey family, so glad you could join us!!! Pictures please and more info about sweet Grey Racle!
  8. I'm sorry you are unable to get the amazon you would like to have. As for the lady with the numerous parrots, out of curiosity have you seen the conditions these parrots are living in or is this just hearsay? If you have seen the condition firsthand, perhaps you can educate her on the proper care and feeding of these magnificent creatures. Just a thought.
  9. Thanks Carolina!!!! My, my but there are oodles of different amazons!!!!
  10. Well Happy Hatchday Tee!!!! What a handsome TAG you are too!!!! I just love TAGs!!! And shrimp too, what a lucky guy you are!!!!
  11. Hi Jim, have you found a name for your little guy? I look forward to hearing more about him and seeing some pictures (hint, hint). Welcome to the Grey family!
  12. Hi Karen welcome to you and your fids! I look forward to hearing more about Gabby and Baby Tag and your other feathered kids. Pictures please, we love to see the birdies!!!
  13. Thanks for the Hindi dictionary sites, Jay, but, he talks so fast I could never figure out what he is saying. Besides, I want him to learn English.
  14. Louie is just starting to come out of his cage. The foot toys were convenient for him to find. He has not venture up the playtop ladder yet. He has jumped over to Sully's cage, which sits in front of the window, the best spot in the birdroom really, but Sully is a bird who loves the window and his cage. Louie is still getting comfortable with with roommates and his new home. He does love to talk in Hindu and jabbers up a storm, wish I knew what he was saying.
  15. I'm a margarita woman myself!!!!!! I have notice that Louie is a real chewer of wood. Wooden toys that Ana Grey and Sully have ignored are now in use by Louie, hooray!
  16. I just love it that Nilah calls you bird, Penny!!!! It cracks me up every time you type about Nilah's name for you!!!!! Once again, you have made my day!!!
  17. Congratulations to Paco!!!! They are so beautiful to watch in flight, aren't they Ryan? I have gotten Ana Grey to come to me with a "Come here, want a nut." It started out with when I let Ana Grey out of her cage, I always say, come here, and then open the door. And when I wanted to give her a nut I would come up to her with, want a nut? and then giving her one. She understood the meaning of each phrase so I just added them together with, a come here want a nut, when I was siitting in the living room and she was somewhere else. When she came she got a nut. I am hoping that if she ever gets away outside, I will be able to use this phrase to have her come to me.
  18. Drum roll please!!!! An update on Louie. Louie has been with me for a week now and he is a sweetheart. He has started coming out of his cage on his own and playing with some toys. He ignores Ana Grey's dive bombing now and just stands his ground as she bombs him. Hopefully, with all the reprimands she gets, Ana Grey will soon learn her antics get her nowhere. Louie is still leery of stepping up for me, I try at least once or twice a day, but he still backs away, but he no longer growls. I know he wants to trust me so I will continue to be patient. New pictures of Louie playing on his cage playtop:
  19. Great topic Penny!!!! I have only had my Louie, BFA, for a week and he has just began to come out of his cage. I am told he has never been clipped. Louie has not yet flown in the bird room, it is the only room he has been in yet, but he has hovered for a second or three then landed. I anticipate every Amazon owners comments as I would love to hear what to expect from Louie. As for Ana Grey, she turns corners, hovers and is a down right sexy little acrobat in her flights!
  20. Hi Jim, is your baby grey out in the general public or in a quiet place? If I were you I would ask the store manager/owner about clipping and if it is not something you want done I would express that to the manager/owner. A lot of breeders and pet stores do clip and if you don't express you desires for an unclipped bird it could happen. If you have already purchased the bird than you have a right to not have your baby clipped. Please introduce yourself in our Welcome/Introduction Room so everyone can say welcome.
  21. Emma is certainly enjoying herself. She is always so much fun to watch!
  22. A very interesting episode in Cocoa's many adventures. I'm glad Cocoa is safe thanks to very quick reactions on your part Sanggay!!!
  23. Hooray we know it is a Yellow Ringneck. Not the exotic bird we had hoped for but a beautiful bird none the less! Thanks solving the mystery!
