Where I live pets aren't allowed in stores, unless they are accompanied by a handicapped person or are in training to help people.

Ana Grey likes to be with me and that is usually in my computer room. I have a homemade movable perch I made out of an old metal clothes rack which I wrapped in sisal rope and hung toys on. Ana Grey will sit there and play as it is right next to me. I don't normally allow her on my shoulder but she does sit on the back of my desk chair, I have a towel over the back of the chair so she will happily sit there with foot toys. To the side of my desk I also have a bungee boing with foraging toys and bells hanging from it. So she has a lot places to play and eat close to me. As for my keyboard I just replaced it as she got the idea she could type better than me and ate one of my keys so now I have a towel I can flip over the keyboard when I am not using it. I personally don't think it is a good idea to give a grey, or any animal a keyboard of their own as how will they know that it is wrong to touch yours if they can touch another?? I also have a towel over the back of my computer screen and Ana Grey will sit there and converse with me to her heart's content.

Ahhh yes the pretending to want out ploy!!!!! Ana Grey does this also. My pug, Lily barks at the door of she wants out. She is really a great dog and barks in the morning and then the evening. Well sometimes I have been hearing barking at the door in the afternoon and Lily isn't there. It has been Ana Grey!!!! Ana Grey barks and flies off when she hears me coming. (Greys have great hearing by the way.) I have heard her laughing as she shoots past me. Little stinker!!!! Our greys are little comics!!!!!! Welcome to the club, Corky!!!!!

Well MyGrey-Gary, glad you found the Grey Forum. Do you have any experience with parrots at all, or birds in general. They do poop and they poop a LOT!!! My grey will not poop directly on me, BUT has no problem with pooping on the back of my desk chair, my floor, on her toys and anywhere else she might be. It is a ritral. poop, flap and fly!!! Birds/parrots also fling their food here and there and drop what they don't like at the moment. Don't expect them to care or pick it up!!! That's your job. I have three parrots and they all do this rather I brought the bird home as a newly weaned youngster or 2 1/2 years old, or over 10 years old. Parrots are work and if they want something they scream for it if you don't get their message right-a-way. I don't want to disillusion you but you should not go into being a parront without knowing the real truth. Parrots, actually any animal chooses who they will like or dislike, and there is not anything anyone can do about it, no matter how much that person may want to be liked/loved the heart wants what the heart wants. You MUST have a true love for greys/birds/parrots to be a good parront. Please ask questions and read the many, many threads here about greys and the problems people have had/are having. I'm Game!!!! How many people can play?

Betsy is not plucked and is a quiet amazon. It is the owner who wants me to have her. I have been watching Betsy for a few months and she has never come to me or really wanted to have anything to do with me. So, yes, I will continue to watch her, but unless it becomes apparent she would be happy with me, I won't be taking her. Sully was different he really wanted to come with me and would not be kind to anyone else.

Oh that nasty old vertigo can really make your day miserable, been there done that. Jay is home that certainly is a blessing and surrounded by his love ones and friends, that is marvelous! Ahhh Lyn pretty much has my problem down in her post. When I got Sully, he was totally plucked front and back and screamed for me when I came into the store and also came to me to sit on my hand when he wouldn't do that for others. Louie lived outside getting more and more wild when he has a loving heart and he broke my heart. Now Betsy is comfortable in the pet store, she likes the owner and "talks" to her. She will not step up for me and actually moves away from me. So I will wait and see what happens. With my pets there has to be a connection and with Ana Grey, Sully, Louie and my pug Lily there is one. With Betsy not so much she seems happy where she is..... so we will wait and see.

I use all three. I keep freeze-dried in the bowls for evening snacks, fill the bowls before I put the fids to bed. It's how I get the little darlings into their cages for the night. They love freeze-dried. I use frozen for the birdie mash I make up for them. The fresh they get also.

Excellent update on your Too's homecoming!!!! I am totally delighted that your Baby is back home safe and sound. Hopefully the wanderlust is now a thing of the past!!! Congratulations and Hooray!!!!

Maggie certainly is a real cutie and this your post is a great update. It is too bad we can't choose who our greys, like, love and just tolerate. It seems so unfair sometimes, but then we don't want anyone telling who we can love or what we care about either. Ana Grey is my girl, but I live alone. She likes my two grandsons and that's about it. My oldest daughter has tried to interact with her and Ana Grey just turns up her nose. Funny thing is that it is my oldest daughter who will be finding Ana Grey a home when I go. I guess Ana Grey doesn't care what side her bread is buttered on!!! LOL!!!! I'm glad you and Maggie have at least come to an understanding, thanks for the great update!!!
