Your description of Morgan is so like my Louie. Louie leans towards me and grabs at my clothing if I am in front of him, but the moment I offer my arm he flies off. I just have to be more patient and I know he will trust me some day.

Louie has never bitten me. He beaks at me but has never clamped down on my skin. He so wants to be my friend but is still very leery. We will become friends though, I just know it!

I'm afraid I'm no help as my Amazon, BF male, is only 3 years old and has not displayed this type of behavior.

I have a TAG, Ana Grey, and she is loving and caring and talks up a storm. I chose a TAG because she was smaller than a CAG and this was my first parrot. I am getting a CAG in the future, but because I love greys and just want both. Choose your grey for its personality not its coloring. They are all different just like people.

I think they would make great pets. Smokey already wants to interact with you and Teddy, is a little more cautious but is also willing to trust you. I think they are just a happy pair of greys that live together. Enjoy!!!!

Hi Deucypher, who knows why a grey chooses who he/she does like. My Ana Grey, a TAG, is bonded to me, I can do anything with her and she comes back for more. She also likes my 21-year old grandson, who comes over a couple of times a month and flies to him for attention whenever he shows up. My 11-year old grandson is also a favorite whose shoulder is Ana Grey's favorite perch when he comes around. Both of my grandsons are very gentle souls so I believe Ana Grey sees this in them and is drawn to it. It does not matter who feeds, who cleans, or who gives treats, a grey loves whom a grey loves for his/her own reasons.

My opinion, if you want them as pets, then interact with them as such. If they have been together for 7 years and they are 12 years old, they probably are just friends. If you have a separate cage, put it up and open the door and see if one prefers to be alone. Do they come out of the cage on their own? My understanding is breeding greys don't make good pets and pet greys do not normally breed. Hopefully Dave007 can give you some better advice. Good luck, I know you want to do right by your new companions.

I just talk to Ana Grey as if she were a person. Sometimes she uses pronouns sometimes not.

I have tried giving Louie, the BF Zon, chicken or a little beef, he is not interested. He really is not a junk food eater either. He loves his veggies, a little slice of apple and pistachios, safflower seeds, walnuts, but not too much of anything else.

I have been saving my parrots molted out feathers (the big ones) and am hoping to send them to the people who "imp" feathers for flightless birds. I hope they can use them for needy parrots.

Sounds like Gizmo might have been cut by the tape measure. I'm assuming it is metal. If it is a cut and not bleeding now, I would listen to the avian vet and just watch it and give Gizmo soft foods he likes for now to keep the cut from reopening. Keep everything around him fresh and clean to prevent infection. In the long run, only you know how Gizmo is reacting and what is normal and what is not, so use your "gut" and do what you feel is necessary.
