Cute thread Ray!!!! So let's see:
Ana Grey (TAG): Booba - She is just my little love muffin - I have had her for 2 1/2 years
Louie (ZON): Big Guy - Well, he's a big guy!- I have only had Louie for 6 months but he is part of the flock/family!!!
Sully (EKKIE): Ole' Man - He acts like he has the whole world on his shoulders and it's weighing him down!- 1 3/4 years
Naughty Mawnee, shame on you, Cosmo is no cannibal!!!! LOL!!! I have always had the same problem with my parrots, I thought it was wrong, wrong, wrong to feed them anything feathered. I have I tried a little chicken and then turkey after a while but funny thing is..... they just won't eat it!!!! Not even chicken bones!!!
Hi Electra, welcome to you and your little flock! Congrats on your TAG, to me they are the best. Some names meaning new life how about:
Bethany ... From the New Testament description of life in the house ... [10]
Joy ... it generally signifies the parents' joy in their new-born child ... or with the intention of wishing her a happy life ... [14]
Karma ... New age name ... karma is the inevitable effect of actions during life.
Whatever name you decide on will be the right name for your new friend. Welcome to the Grey family!!! I can't wait to hear more about your feathered friends! Pictures please!!!!
Louie has been more docile lately, which I am very happy about. He has more or less mellowed out. He is not so much the wrecking machine that he was a month ago. So perhaps he is now over his "hots." He was never mean or aggressive just chewed up all the wooden toys he could find and attacked all the boings and swings! He is a true sweetheart for sure! Louie was 3 in January!
So the vet, of course, can only more or less guess what might have happened. The toe is a deformity, if not an owie when she was a very young that was not corrected. And yes, a problem the breeder would have been aware of. Isabella is able to use the toe to a degree but the avian vet says it may have to be amputated if it gets caught on something or just dries up. I have not gotten an e-mail back from the breeder yet. The fact that the pictures the breeder sent me are not of my grey are also disappointing. So for right now I am just watching Isabella closely. I did not have her micro-chipped as planned I have to search my soul first.
It is so good to hear from you Spock and Maggie to hear about The Flock!! I miss you all tremendously so just any ole time you get a chance please, please let us know how you all are and what you are up to. Jay, here is hoping that your health improves and you can join us all again soon. Big Hugs, Jay, Maggie, Spock, Joey, Tango and .... all the flock!!!!
I will feel much better after a vet check. I have contacted the breeder by e-mail and pictures. the sad thing is that the last picture I posted of Isabella that the breeder sent to me is obviously not a real picture of the grey I received.
Dave I just noticed that Isabella has a crooked talon. I am taking her to the vet today. What do you think? She is able to perch no problem. But that talon is strange to me. Please let me know what you think.
Before breakfast, scrambled eggs and mixed veggies, with a touch of red palm oil, Isabella weighed 365 g. she is eating like a champ and very friendly! Vet appointment at 12:30 pm today and I don't expect a problem.
After breakfast pictures:
After breakfast: 371 g
It will be a while before I try to get Ana Grey and Isabella together. Ana Grey is a very jealous little lady and Isabella is a baby so, we will see how Ana Grey reacts to just seeing Isabella in a cage for a while. First the vet visit before anything happens at all.
Well I have my Isabella now. It was an 8-hour trip. So she was hungry and thirsty. I am quite confused because the DNA Sexing Certificate says she is female. Got that. But her hatch date is 1/10/11. So I have called Eva to see what is going on. Did she send me the wrong certificate or was my grey born 12/20/11 or 1/10/11? Eva has promised to e-mail the correct information. Isabelle does perch well and eats well so I am hoping it is just an error on the hatch date information sent me. I will also check the ID # on her band in the AM as she is already in bed now. Isabella is also much larger than Ana Grey my TAG so it should be interesting when they meet, which will be after the vet check tomorrow. I am keeping Isabella in a travel cage for right now to make sure she is not clumsy but so far she is well-coordinated and happy little grey. Pictures tomorrow!
