Well I have my Isabella now. It was an 8-hour trip. So she was hungry and thirsty. I am quite confused because the DNA Sexing Certificate says she is female. Got that. But her hatch date is 1/10/11. So I have called Eva to see what is going on. Did she send me the wrong certificate or was my grey born 12/20/11 or 1/10/11? Eva has promised to e-mail the correct information. Isabelle does perch well and eats well so I am hoping it is just an error on the hatch date information sent me. I will also check the ID # on her band in the AM as she is already in bed now. Isabella is also much larger than Ana Grey my TAG so it should be interesting when they meet, which will be after the vet check tomorrow. I am keeping Isabella in a travel cage for right now to make sure she is not clumsy but so far she is well-coordinated and happy little grey. Pictures tomorrow!
So far I have been lucky. Ana Grey and Louie immediately get out of their cages when I open their doors. They just rush out and onto their door top. Ana Grey enjoys watching me clean her cage and she will observe the whole time. I am waiting for her to go tsk, tsk, you missed a spot!!!! LOL!!
My Ana Grey does not like to have a dirty or messy face. So I give her cooked orzo in with her veggies. Pasta which is made in the shape of a grain of rice. She loves it.
I have never heard that you should never whistle at you grey/parrot. I have always whistled at my grey since I got her at 4 months old. She has a mean bomb whistle and wolf whistle. She talks and whistles and can carry a tune, kind of. So that must be some kind of old wife's tale.
Welcome Julie! congrats on your new baby Louie! I have a 13 week old CAG, Isabella, who will be coming home, Wednesday of this week. I can't wait to compare notes on our babies! You should post about your White-Front Amazon in the Amazon Room. We love to hear about our zon clowns. Glad you decided to join the Grey family!
Oh my biggest fear come to light!!! I so delighted you got your Cocoa back!!! As for someone thinking about keeping Rorschach, there should be a law, our pets are like our children. You keep someone's child, you go to jail/prison!
So, my Isabella's breeder has e-mailed me that she is now ready to come home!!!! So I am now waiting to hear when and what time!!! Isabella just turned 3 months old yesterday! So exciting!!!
Congrats on your new baby Wynn!! My baby grey's breeder e-mailed me that my Isabella is ready to come home so I know how excited you are!!!! Can't wait to watch Wynn grow with you! Welcome to the Grey family!
My parrots say what they like and what they want to say. I have heard words once and never again. If a parrot likes a word or gets a reaction he want or likes from it, that parrot will use the word more often. I have tried for over two years to get Ana Grey to say, "Hello gorgeous" (for some reason my oldest daughter wants one of my parrots to say this phrase) but it is not working! My grandson tries every time he comes over to get them to say, "Gabriel is a genius" not happening!!!! I stubbed my toe and said " F... It! (well it hurt dog gone it) and Ana Grey said this phrase for days!!!!!! They say want they like no matter how hard you try or don't try.
Nothing like feeling totally satisfied with ourselves!!!! Good job, I'm sure Cleo is very impressed and enjoying all the fresh and clean perches and things!!!
Our fids should not get into any kind of draft (don't want any sudden chills). I let my fids air dry; that way they can preen and primp at leisure. I spray them/bathe them in the AM/early PM so they have all day to dry off.
If you go into anyone's profile, where you leave messages and such, you can look and see when someone was last on line. The last time I looked, neither Jay or Maggie had been on since December, 2010. I tried to contact them and did not get a return e-mail. I hope Jay and Maggie and family (human and feathered) are all fine.
