  1. How very wonderful!!! You go girl!!!
  2. Hi Leta so glad you have joined us. I am looking forward to hearing about your grey and seeing some pictures. Welcome to the Grey family!
  3. So to end this Sully thread. Jordan came by last evening with his "Parrot Book for Dummies" that he purchased to help him with Sully. I asked him how Sully was and if they were all happy at his house and he said a big Yes! They are keeping his name Sully and all the people enjoy him but he did bite the daughter, Jessie, apparently she pesters Sully to come to her quite a bit and Sully does not enjoy that. So, Sully broke skin and gave her a bloody bite. The mom and Jordan apparently spend the day when they are home carrying Sully around on their shoulders if Sully is not sitting on his cage top. Sully has a few new sounds I never hear but his only words are still "hi" and "huh". So he is a sound maker not a talker and Jordan and his family seem alright with that. They have a routine that seems to work for them and I am delighted. Sully has found his permanent roost, hooray. Jordan even has a picture of Sully and him on his cell phone. Now that is true love. I gave Jordan Sully's travel cage, I really don't need it anymore so that they could go outside no problems. If Sully grows back his feathers, I will surely let you know. I am just so happy he finally has a loving home he is enjoying!!!!!
  4. Happy Hatchday Josey!!!!! You are truly Judy's jewel!!!!! Have a great day!!!!
  5. Louie was a little trouble to get back into the birdroom at bedtime. He will not let me hold him and he will not step up. So we have to go through the "Nite, nite Louie" routine. I start by telling Louie it is nite, nite time and then go after him. I know, I know this is not the ideal situation but it is the only way to get Louie back into his room. He will fly back to the bird room if I am persistent and go after him and keep asking him to "step up" He has watched Ana Grey step up many times so he knows what I am doing when I ask. He will not oblige! Once he is back in the bird room, I go to his cage and tap on the open door and he knows he has to go to bed or be pestered by me until he does. He goes back after flying around a little. I am assuming it is his night time exercise before being "cooped up". It is a ritual we go through every night ending by my telling him "thank you". So we will see what today brings and if Louie will be coming out again today. I'll let you know! I have never really touched Louie yet, he will not let me on his own. So more patience will be needed for a while looonnnngggger!
  6. It has been almost 9 months since Louie came to live with me. He will not let me step him up. He growls if I even try to give him a nut while on my lap so, I'll just be happy with what he will offer. Spock, Loouie is very clumsy when it comes to flying. He is like an overweighted helicopter. Although he has lost quite a lot of fat and is now a lean sleek zon. I will have to watch my woodwork though as Louie loves to chew on wood. He destroys more wooden toys and I have to buy, buy, buy for the rascal!
  7. I can't believe it, but today, Louie decided to tour the house. Here he is on the light shade at the table: [/img] and here, believe it or not is Louie sitting in my lap! He just flew there! [/img] and sitting on a plant in the kitchen: [/img] Now I just have to figure out how to get him back into the bird room!!!!!!
  8. It's always great to hear about Issac and your special relationship! Well done!
  9. Well congratulations to Gabby!!! Hooray!
  10. My grey, Ana Grey, is my first parrot and rules the roost so to speak. She is very jealous and dive bombs my zon all the time. Louie, the zon, is a big and loving clumsy guy and usually just flies away. Basically treats little Ana Grey as a pest. It has taken awhile but my two birdies seem to now have an understanding and I can leave them alone in a room. I do however always put them into their cages if I leave the house. Better safe than sorry.
  11. Thanks Dave for the site. I have my grey micro-chipped and that gives me peace-of-mind in case she is ever lost. Of course, returning a bird requires that an honest person finds your bird. It's nice to know that in the US a vet will read a micro-chip free to aid in identifying the true owner.
  12. Very nice introduction Tina and I look forward to hearing about your new grey. I grew up with a big white rat named Sanford so I know they can be cuddly, very friendly and a big part of the family. That was many years ago as I am a senior citizen now! Welcome to the Grey family!
  13. Very adorable pictures Bear! I am looking forward to seeing and hearing more about these two fids interacting! Thanks for sharing with with us!
  14. Welcome Traci Lyn!!! Looking forward to hearing about your new parrots! Pictures are always welcome (hint, hint). Welcome to the Grey family!
  15. I am totally delighted with my zon (BF) so I am looking forward to hearing about your Panama when you bring him home. I also take my new parrots to an avian vet for a wellness check up and so my vet can know them in good health before one has a problem. I also kept my zon separate for awhile just to be on the careful side and to get him use to me alone without my grey pestering him. If you have any pictures of your possible addition, we would love to see them!!!!
  16. What a gorgeous picture of you with your two birdies!! I wish my two liked each other. It's my TAG that is the jealous one and won't share with the zon!!!!
  17. Great picture! Great name for your sweet little lady! Hello Lollie, can't wait to hear more about you!!!!
  18. Louie is the clown at my house and I love him for it!!!!! One of the best times I ever did was re-home this big lout!!!
  19. Nope, Louie the Zon is a laid-back big guy. Ana Grey who only weighs in at 303 grams is the boss and dive-bombs poor Louie if he goes out-of-bounds. Whenever Louie does come into my office, Ana Grey is right on his toes and bombs him if he comes anywhere near me or "one of her spots".
  20. Macaws are beautiful, but definitely too much parrot for me! I do love to look at them though and am looking forward to hearing about your Paco. Pictures are always a plus (hint, hint)!
  21. I have a subscription to Bird Talk and frankly I enjoy reading the article about Parker & Pepper. I do skim through the articles and read what sounds interesting. If I have any real problems though I always come on here, Grey Forums and ask Dave. Perhaps we should have an Ask Dave Section.
  22. My Blue-Front male zon is Louie. He is 3 1/2 years old. Louie is a re-home who is very leery and really wants to come to me but is still unsure. Louie is from Portland, Oregon and when his male owner became will, the wife moved Louie to an outside cage. When Louie came to me he was a little wild and unmanageable. but Louie wants to be loved and he is very smart and speaks Hindi. He holds long telephone conversations with himself and jabbers away none stop. I have taught him some English. He now says, "nite nite Louie. See you in the morning. Thank you. " He will go to his cage when asked. Which is good because he will not let me touch him. He has always been flighted and if I reach for him or try to have him step up for me. He flies away. He has lost a lot of weight and looks much slimmer. He has a healthy appetite and I am still hopeful that he will trust me. We work on it. Louie loves toys and is always active. Showers are something that he loves and if I don't shower him regularly, he will bathe himself with his drinking water. Louie is a keeper and I am very glad we found each other. Now my TAG, Ana Grey, who I have had since she was 4 months old is my sweetheart She is now 2 years 9 months old. I also have my pug, Lily who is 10 years old. I have had Lily since she was about 4 months old.
  23. My grey is female and she is my sweetheart. She loves me but she also likes my two grandsons, one is 11 and one is 21. I just gave an older male ekkie to a young man and from what I understand they bonded quickly. So I believe, like all animals it is something about a person that is liked, not the gender.
  24. Hi Kimberley I am looking forward to hearing about your country. I don't know how I ever got along without my sweet grey. Welcome to the family!
  25. Hi Kofola, welcome to the family! I grow up with a big white rat that belonged to my uncle Elmer. Sanford was his name and he was a joy to watch and play with. There are oodles of threads here at the forum and if you can't find an answer, just ask.
