  1. Congratulations Vumes on joining the Grey family! Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your grey, hint, hint!
  2. Happy Hatchday Neo!!!!!!! Love those TAGs. I'm sure Mommy will make you have a very special time!!!!! Hooray!!!!
  3. Eva is a very pretty little lady! Congratulations on the great interaction the two of you already have!!!!
  4. Oh I wanted to see your tiel, but I am not a member of facebook and so could not take a glimpse!!!!
  5. I saw it and the lady trains parrots and apparently has oodles of trained parrots. The parrot, I believe was a red-headed conure. I only watched the program after I saw your post live. ( in northwest so we are three hours later). So now I will be looking forward to watching this lady and her parrots in Vegas. The parrot on tv is 21 years old and the lady raised her since it was hatched. Thanks for the heads up!
  6. When you see the "right" grey, you will know it. Whether you pick him or he picks you will happen in an instant. So be patient, the right grey is just waiting for you to show up. I have a TAG and she is a delight.
  7. Well, I call my TAG, Ana Grey, Booba. My Blue Front Amazon, Louie, is Big Guy! My CAG, Sterling Gris, is a very big guy and I call him Bubba!
  8. You have been missed Marguerite and a big hug and prayer for your dad's quick return home. Do what needs to be done for your dad and yourself right now, we'll still be here, you betcha!
  9. Great advice from Judy. I have a re-homed amazon and the description of your rescued grey sounds a lot like what I am going through with him. I have had Louie for 9 months and it is a slow and patient progress so good luck with Chipper.
  10. Greys are very intelligent and very sensitive parrots. Much smarter than some people give them credit for. They also react to what people say and do. They are very intuitive. When an owner acts angry or says things excitedly, they love it. And they will work hard at getting that reaction again or to get what they want. You need to take a deep breath and approach your grey with a calm and positive attitude. Let her come to you.
  11. Hi Reema, congratulations on your new baby grey. I have a female TAG, Ana Grey, she and I are very close so I can't agree with males liking female owners better. It all has to do with trust, I believe. Looking forward to hearing more about your new baby and seeing some pictures when you get a chance. Welcome to the grey family!
  12. I am trying to get Louie to sing Louie, Louie. He can carry a tune but the words are lost!
  13. Hello Cellochess, welcome to you and your critters! I look forward to hearing about Jimbob. Welcome to the grey family!
  14. Congratulations RedDragon. Looking forward to learning about Hawkheaded parrots with you. Please keep us informed of your new parrot.
  15. I can still cuddle with Ana Grey. She will be three in August. She has chosen a few of my family to trust, my two oldest grandsons and my oldest daughter. Frankly, I don't really want her liking strangers and casual friends as I don't want just anyone to be able to carry her away. Ana Grey has perches throughout the house so if strangers are over she can sit and observe and be left alone.
  16. Before I got my parrots, I knew my grey would be able to roam free, it was what I was looking forward to, so I had my total home un-carpeted so I now have laminated wood floors throughouot the house and tiles in the bathrooms. I also have hanging perches and my parrots know that is where they are to land. I do have throws on the back of my couch so that my parrots can sit with me if they choose. As for my floors, I can always find the poo because I never wear shoes in the house so I am pretty diligent when it comes to poo droppings. In the bird room I have newspaper over the laminated floors and pick them up every night when I put the gang to bed.
  17. If you associate your words with actions your parrot wants or understands he will pick them up much easier. When I want my grey to go on my arm, I say "step up" . Now when she wants me to come get her she says "step up" and raises a foot. If she does something I don't like I say, "stop that". Now if I do something she does not like, she will tell me, "stop that". Be patient, if a parrot is meant to talk it will, if not, they have some many other wonderful actions they are still a joy to have around and love.
  18. So very true Ray! Every time i login, quickly look in the new posts for a thread/post/word about Jay.
  19. Psst.... Dan, I know the words by heart!!!!!! Great song.
  20. Cockatoos are lovely parrots and I always wanted one because of the Baretta show with Robert Blake and Fred the cockatoo. I spent sometime, thank goodness in a local pet shop that had a couple of toos and that thought quickly changed. One Too belonged to the shop and one was for sale. They both were very needy parrots who wanted a lot of attention and to be on someone at all times. They were kept in the back of the shop because when people came in to see them, they were very noisy and wanting attention. Too much parrot and need for me. I like my space and prefer a parrot that can play and interact alone. It all depends on what you want in a bird/parrot, and what time and space you have for one. However, all parrots are different. I'm sure there are some Toos out there that also like their space and unless you spend time with one you will not know.
  21. My TAG is bonded to me, always has been. In the last year or so she has also added my two grandsons to her list of "okay" people and my oldest daughter will get a shoulder sit or two once in a while. Ana Grey will be three in August.
  22. Thank you Dan for your thread. Much appreciated!!!!! Very interesting indeed!
