I make sure everytime I get ZZero from the cage we go to his potty place, I tell him Bombs away and he goes. I try to put him there every so ofton but somtimes I am busy he will usually fly there himself and go then go back to what he was doing. I also have poop stops thru the house these are baskets that are his in everyroom so he knows he can go in them. I keep a rock with a paper towel wrapped around in the center so it doesnt land on his toys. You CAN potty train, you need to be persistant if you see him doing the telltale signs go for a step up imediantly and move him to preferred spot and say a command. ZZero will almost always go when asked to. Poop still happens though, we and they arent perfectbut I got the majority controlled.

What do you mean by plucking??I would guess thats hes just preening and that is a good sign! you are gonna see little white fluffs but this is normal you probley shouldnt be seeing any grey feathers for awhile. Congrats on your baby and enjoy him!! I would just sit and talk softly tell him everything your doing, I sat and read aloud to Zzero for many hours till he acclimated he will be outta of his shell in no time! Good luck

My family owns a winery here in the valley and they gave me a bunch of bags of unused corks for ZZero, are they ok for him to shred??

Its on now !! ZZero really started a few weeks ago( he sais Hello a couple months back ) now hes learning new words dailey ! It is sooo fun and hes starting to put the words together into phrases in just a few weeks. hes 10 months and hes saying ZZero ZZero, whatcha doin?, good boy/bird/parrot,ozzybourne,peekaboo and so much more, it will amaze you how fast it starts to come now!! Congrats on the start of a exciting time!

I am sorry to hear "Bonnies" test came back positive but you seem very dedicated and you will get thru this in no time. I know 6 weeks seems forever but it a short amount of time in the next 40- 50 years that she will finally have a great comfy home. Hope everything clears up fast and you can get on to those happy times with your flock together.

ahhh I am not sure what it means but I get this sound everytime I go near mine. I think its the cutest thing ever and always wondered where he got it from. Its like a purr and I just love it hes been doing it almost since I got him at 16 weeks.

Dhorje haha ZZero is the same way I can always tell if a fly got in cause he freezes and wont take his "eye" off it, he looks so nervous. I personally would not catch bugs or worms from outside:sick: Just make sure he gets protien from other sources and you will be fine. Greys will need more protien while moulting. But a well cooked piece of chicken will do fine, I believe. You know greys also eat dirt in the wild. they do sell a gravel for them but from what I have read its not neccasary, they use it in the wild to help keep their digestive track clean. I am not sure but I think it goes with eating bugs and such helps clean that stuff thru their system. Kind of a form of self medicating. Just feed a healthy diet and your grey will be content:)

I am gonna love this thread, I cant wait till ZZero has more of a vocab right now he say HI, Hello, Peekaboo, Ozzybourne ( my dog) and whatcha doing. So yesterday he kept yelling Ozzybourne Ozzybourne, whatcha doin? So outta his 6 words I think him and the dog have great conversations so far.:cheer: Cant wait to hear more stories!

yes I use quaker oats I put a little handful in a bowl top with water and microwave for 1 1/2 mins, I then mix in differnet goodies dailey, bananas or cut up grapes and such. I always add a little bit of Palm oil (wich you get at a health food store). The reason I feed oatmeal everyday is so I can get his pellets and palm oil in him on a dailey basis. when feeding anything from the microwave always mix well with fingers and make sure there are no hotspots. also another treat your grey will LOVE and is very good for them is a well cooked chicken bone or a scrambled egg/with crushed shell one or the other should be given 1 time a week if possible. I havent tried yogurt Dave I am gonan try some with him today. Sounds like you are doing super you baby is gonna be so spoiled I can tell!!k??

I trick ZZero into eating his pellets lol somtimes he will play with them but thats it play I have tried all kinds of pellets. So what I do is when I fix his oatmeal in the morning I throw them and cook them also they get soft and I just mix them in. I still keep a bowl of pellets in his cage at all times but he wont eat them. He loves most veggies and fruit and they are really his main diet, he gets a small handful of seeds at bedtime. and the seed mix I use is Sunscription vita prima they make it with the things you listed but they have a blend with out sunflower and peanuts. I get it from Petco.

Did you change the cage location??

I am having some of the same type of issues I just got done reading this story about distraction, this artical was written by Jane Hallander/avian behaviorlist. When her grey used to scream she would find a tactic to ditract, hers didnt like to waddle on the floor so when he would scream she would set him on the floor and run down the hall. her grey hated it so much that he quickly learned that screaming meant being put on the floor. Now I know this is not somthing all of us can do but I am trying to think of what I can do to inplement this type of thinking. ZZero has gone thru series of awful noises that he would do constantly but then usually move on quickly from not getting attention for them but we have this "BEEP" that he will do constantly that is driving me outta my mind. so I gonna think of somthing for him to associate it with (cage does not work for us) and let you know how it goes. Now we have a biting issue, most of the time ZZero is really sweet but if hes into somthing hes knows hes not supposed to be inot he snips when when I ask for a step up and seems to get really angry with me, I have to walk away I am wondering am I am doing the right thing or should I chase him all over and take the bites till I get my way ?? Sorry to put my problems in your post but the issues are alot alike
