Hubby, kids and I all play WoW. Son plays lots of xbox 360 including call of duty. We took a brake over the summer but are back now and looking forward to the expantion.

Sounds like he is playing to me.

I am VERY blunt about my birds. I don't care if it hurts other peoples feelings. You DON'T touch my birds. If you touch while I'm not looking and get bit your problem not mine. I have one of my daughters friends and her little sister (who is 5) come over in the morning. I take them to school then pick them up after school. When they first started coming over the little one kept messing with Alex. I finally had to say something to the mom about it. She is pretty small and Alex has bitten my son hard enough in the same spot that he left a scar. I have to use plyers to fix some of his toys. I can just see him taking her finger off.
-
Sorry that is the only way. I know it hurts. But you just have to take the bit and act like nothing happened. Also if you used a flash it most likely startatled him. It could be that he is letting you know that he is not happy with you right now and wants you to go away. He could be having an off day and just wants to be left alone. You have to look at everything to figure out why he is biting you.

Give yourself a few days before you make a final desision about clipping. Right now it is just a reaction to what happened. Remind your birds where the glass is. Also a very good suggestion to help you keep your birds flighted and your shades open. Get some of the window clings that they put out for hollidays to put on your windows. Your birds will see them and know that they can't fly threw. Or if you are creative enough you could use acrylic craft paint and paint something more to your liking onto your windows. It comes back off very easy. Some windex and a window scraper. I have to wonder if it is a tiel thing. I lost my tiel Maggie to a very similar accedent. Though it was boiling water and not a window.

I am so sorry for your loss!

Alex likes all kinds of music.

Everything looks great! Glad to hear that Tyco is enjoying it already!:cheer:

Alex is flighted and can go anywhere in the living room he wants. He mostly stays on his playstand or his cage/play area. He never poos in his cage unless we are gone all day. He mostly poos on his playstand. If he is on the coffee table he will go to the edge and poo off of the edge. We have hardwood floors. So under his cage and playstand I have sheet plastic as it's very easy to clean. Under the coffee table we have a very nice indoor/outdoor rug. So about once a week I take it outside and hose it off and let it dry in the sun. I knew birds were messy when we got him so it doesn't really bother me. I have better things to do durning the day than run around cleaning up after Alex. I sweep up the major stuff once a day. Everything else gets done once a week.

Yep Alex said Hello all by it's self last week. He said it once and has not said it sence. Not even as part of his song. So at this point I don't think he is going to talk. I love him no matter what. No offence Ron but just because you got a bird that is renound for talking doesn't mean he is going to. There is a small percent that never talk. So if he is going to talk he will when he is good and ready. Love your bird for the wonderful creature he is and if he talks then it is just a bonus.

That is to funny! I finally found Alex's will do ANYTHING for food. Unfortunitly it's not good for him. He likes the golden oreos! No I don't let him have the cream filling just the cookie part. I thought he was going to try and take my finger off last night because I wasn't fast enough giving him a piece!
-
It is a totally normal behavior. All birds throw thier food.
-
Large leafy stuff try clipping a whole piece to the cage. Don't cut it up. Let him shread it. Also if he doesn't like one kind try a different one.
-
Yep the new high pitched sound is always annoying! Over the weekend the weather here was nice so we had our doors open. There are several hawks that live near us. We hear them often screaming as they fly. Alex picked it up right away and decided it wasn't piercing enough so upped that! You have no idea how hard it was to just ignore him.
-
That is a good idea I will have to try that!

I've never liked the antibacteral stuff. I stay away from it. However I do like the cleaning cloths. They are much easier to use on the walls than spray. Those are getting hard to find that don't have the antibacteral stuff in it. I have a problem using lotion. Most have a strong sent to them and have a tendoncy to set off my migrains. I also have skin allergys and there are several others that make me brake out in a rash.

Ziploc makes steamer bags for the microwave. It makes cooking asparagus really easy and your not adding anything. Alex and Martini will eat it raw or cooked. But they seem to enjoy it more when it's been cooked.
-
I've noticed that bits from the smaller birds seem to hurt more than the bigger birds. Boy they have sharp little beaks!
-
She is one beautiful bird!
-
Yep Alex does the head shake with pomegranate. It gets juice everywhere! Looks like someone was murdered around the bird cage! LOL
-
Lol love it! I use to have a cat that always had to get into the middle of my sewing. She use to drive me nuts.
-
Congrats on your new 15 year old baby! I don't care how old they get they are still your baby!

Our birds normally are put to bed about 9 but durning the week no one goes to bed until at least 10. Weekends it can be 1 or 2 before the lights are turned off. They are up around 6:30 am weekdays and 8 or so on weekends. No grumpy birds yet. On an up note broomer they can ajust to your schedule. Someone on another forum is a total night owl and his macaw pretty much follows whatever schedule he has. Including taking naps in the afternoon.

Yes they do! We have had 4 birds we bought 2 and taken in 2. Bella the piouns that we had was a rehome to us. She bonded with my son and he was devestated when she passed away do to illness. Then we just took in Martini at the end of July. He has boned with my daughter and loves her to death. We will only buy one more bird and that will be another piouns for my son. Any other birds will all be rehomes to us.

Yes we were very upset. She had survied a broken wing a few years earlier but couldn't over come this. The space was so empty for a long time.
