1. I have been wondering about getting the same product.I am scared of Charlie getting hold of a wire or something. He has been outside in the aviary quite a bit and I always tell him he is getting his sunshine vitamins.I will be very interested to hear what others say.
2. He is still very strange in his new home.Talk to his, feed him treats from your hand and give him time.Dont rush him into anything, go at his pace.If he is nipping it is most likely he is a bit unsure. Go slow.
3. Charlie is 6-7 years old and is very active. He does have quiet times through the day but on the whole he is always up to something. Blue who is 40+ is not as active as he was but still loves to come out of his cage and sit on top and have a good whistle.Blues favourite activity now is eating.Cant say I blame him at his age.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/08/21 19:31

5. Jill what a great photo of Harvey. Cant wait to hear how the beach trip goes.Pics PLEASE.
6. Thanks for the update Pat.I am curious to know what the test results come back as.
7. I can only heap praise on the nhs. As most of you know my mum who is 82 years old is recovering from breast cancer.I can tell you now she has had the best care and treatment anyone could wish for.All her radiotherapy appointments were very carefully managed and everything was like clock work.District nurses came out to her and still keep in contact if she needs anything. Her follow up appointments are regular and thorough and everyone in the hospitals from cleaners to surgeons have done an amazing job .Thank God for the NHS.
8. Sounds like Ash is a good dog trainer.
9. I am so pleased you found your retired breeders.I am sure you will give them the retirement they need.If they love the pine nuts use it to your advantage and give only to lure them into situations you may need in the future.Good luck.
10. I have never pinned Charlies tallons,I prefere him to stay with me because he wants to.I am a believer in giving parrots choices.Such as if he wants to sit with me ,great, but if he wants his cage thats also fine.At two your grey is growing up and showing independance. I think you need to start from the beginning with the step up and trust building. He may well switch his preferred person from you to your wife, this often happens but you both can have a bond with the grey, just in a diferent way. Work on trust building and avoid situations such as the pinning that encourage biting.

She Talks

My two copy each others speach all the time ,so much so that the cockatiel has a fantastic vocabulary he picked up from the grey, some quite complex phrases for a little tiel, hello there how are you being just one.
12. Jill im so glad you have had a break through, lets hope all stays well.It could have just been the break from having it put on. I would now put it on and take it off daily, even if the weather does not allow a trip outside,so it becomes second nature to him, good luck.
13. I am so glad you enjoyed yourself, you deserved it.
14. Thats it now,You are her slave.
15. I think it is important to vary the entertainment for your grey. Sometimes tv sometimes radio.I also swap radio and tv stations.I also ensure a mix of toys and hide treats around the cage, wrap treats up in bits of paper or in foraging toys.
16. It will be so interesting to follow the growth of a mynah bird. I can remember as a young child a mynah called Laura who lived in a local shop. Its funny how some things stick in your mind. Please keep us informed of developments.
17. Scott, thanks for a very comprehensive review of Alexanders carrier.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/08/16 20:07
18. Charlie has only been very agressive to me when he has been ill or injured causing him to be in pain and feeling bad.If you are at all unsure about Congos health have her checked out by a vet.It also could be she was spooked by the new smell of the palm oil. I hope the situation resolves itself soon.

smart crow

Crows are super inteligent, mind you when you think about it all wild animals are very smart, how many of us could survive in the wild?
20. Yes parrots can become less like cuddle bunnies as they get older(not always the case)but when I got my grey I was not after a lap pet,I respect my grey as a bird first and formost,he is 6-7 years old now and still very tame and on the whole a very well behaved parrot,he can be a swine at times though. We still enjoy our head scritches and cuddles but they are very much on his terms and I respect his wishes to be left or have interaction, its his choice. I admire what you wish to do for a retired breeding couple and wish you luck.

Not Eating Well

He is fledging, and as you know they become more interested in flight at that time than food.I would still offer the hand feeding,he is very young still and ensure he has lots of fresh veg and fruit to sample. Also as Jill said we all worry ALL THE TIME.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/08/15 21:44
22. Charlie is not that smart, he takes his pellets one by one to his water bowl and dunks them.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/08/15 21:16
