Yes, my flock loves chicken meat and the chicken bones. Haven't really tried giving them anything else but my conure will eat anything!!!! We don't feed him meet but sometimes after dinner we will find him in the kitchen eating our leftovers. Thats when we discovered he loved the ham we cooked at Thanksgiving:ohmy: But I would agree with Nims, I wouldn't feed it very often and make sure it's well cooked.

Took Baxter in the (home) office today while I worked on the computer. He went up on a shelf and proceeded to destroy some evil envelopes I have for a good 30 minutes. After he was done he came to the edge and started reguritating.

Good to have you back Judy. You were missed here. Glad you had a great time. And I'm glad Josey and Sunny didn't hold a grudge;) . We all need to get away sometimes:side: :silly:

Thanks Kaedyn for the great explanation. Now I understand it better and will be checking into some lighting for my fids.

I don't have a light for any of my birds:unsure: . I've read a little bit about it but didn't actually realized if they need it or not. Can anyone explain this more to me? I looked at one in the pet store last week. It was a fairly tall avian floor lamp that takes UV bulbs. It can be adjusted in height and angels and was not a kind that you would actually attach to the cage. It was about $50 in price. All 4 of my birds/cages are part way in front of windows and I would say 3 of them get good light from outside. One cage area is a little darker than I'd like though:( And what about it it's a cloudy day. I know my birds are always happier when the sun is shining. I would like to know more about them. Do they need them or only in certain circumstances? I probably should know about this but don't:blush: . Is it harmful if they do not have a UV light?

:pinch: Oh! I totally forgot about oatmeal! Baxter LOVES oatmeal and baked potatoes. I guess he has more than one favorite food:silly:

We have a backroom we spend alot of time in and 2 of our birds (not Baxter) will fly back there to find us. There is a door but we usually leave it open because the top half is glass and we are afraid the eclectus will fly right into it. We him to the window part of it and tapped on it to show him something was there not knowing if it works or not but we did show him. Well, one day the door was almost shut and we heard him flying. I got up so I could see and he got right to the door went up and made a u turn, so I am thinking he remembered it. Thank goodness. It was scary but I guess he knows it there. I'm not a patient person either. When I want something I want immediate gratification:laugh: Usually I get my way but not with the birds. I try and teach them stuff and they are trying to teach me stuff too...like patience:pinch: Darn it.

I have been giving Baxter all kinds of different foods trying to find things he likes. He is sooooo fussy. Sometimes he will eat something and the next time I offer it he turns his nose up at it:angry: I have found that one thing he eats happily is plain boiled egg noodles and would have to say that is his favorite. I was just curious what the other members greys favorite foods are?

I've been trying to figure out our birds favorite types of music. I had some real old time blues on tonight. Real sad slow stuff. Got a neat response from Baxter, he was whistling to it but not like the normal whistles. It's like he knew it was a sad blues song and whistled accordingly. It was pretty good. It likes he whistled at just the right times and it fit in so good. Wish I could have got that recorded. I was impressed with him and him whistling the blues:) So my bird was whistling the blues today. I loved it.

Oh, I am so sorry this happened and sure you must be devasted. I have never had this happen but something must have triggered it. Hopefully someone with the knowledge will see this post soon. Wish I had some answers for you.

Congradulations on your new arrival. It sounds like you are quite taken with Buddy:) Can't wait to see some photos.

Yes, you should wash the veggies to get the chemicals off. I usually run warm water over them real good under the tap and rub them real good to get anything on the surface off. I have also heard of veggie brushes where you can gently scrub the veggies but I do not know where they can be purchased at. Maybe someone else knows.
