Can you call your credit card company and fight the charges? They can step in and refund you payment if you file a complaint. Hopefully not too much time has passed. I would check into it. Maybe you can still get your money back. And thanks for heads up on this bogus company.

Santa Bird came to Mika's house too
BaxtersMom replied to Carolyn's topic in Photography & Video Room
Looks like Mika loves his Christmas presents!!! Cute picture. -
Sorry to hear you are sick Kimberly. I hope it doesn't last long. I had a cold about a month ago that hung on for 2 weeks!! And I'm one of those that don't get colds either. Kimberly was right saying it is going to get real warm today and melt our snow away, all 8-10". Weathermen are giving us flood watches and warnings:huh: plus it's starting to rain:unsure: Baxter & me just finished doing the dishes...those are his chores, too:silly: He enjoys it and it makes it tolerable for me. I am getting ready to go to the pet store and pick up more pellets & seeds while it's warm out and before the rain gets heavy.

Hi Rosie, Sorry you have to get rid of your grey:( I'm sure he's worth every penny and I know that $950 is not too much to ask but I have purchased a couple of birds online myself and didn't pay that much. I got my 12 year old grey for $600 with his cage and I got a 5 year old eclectus for $500. I do look online often to see what new birds come up and have noticed that the ones for $500-$600 seem to sell fairly quick but people aren't willing spend much more than that atleast not here in Michigan. It might be the times and due to the slowing economy that people just can't afford them like they used to. Have you looked at what others are asking for their greys in your area? I know I got a steal on my grey and eclectus because I know they aren't cheap at all and their cages, playstands & toys are so expensive, too but you might have to come down some on price if you really need to sell. Perhaps you could put $950 or best offer if you don't want to go down too much. Just wondering where are you located?

I am getting our Christmas dinner ready for this evening. I finished baking the sugar cookies and look forward to this evening. I know it's not Christmas Day but my mom came from Germany and brought her Christmas traditions with her and I have grown up opening gifts on Christmas Eve night:) So I will opening gifts later tonight. I am like a kid myself and can't wait to see what's inside all the pretty packages.:silly:  This will be my first Christmas with all my flock. It should be fun. I plan on including them in on everything!!!! And taking videos. And yes Caroline, I feel like I need to take in every older bird too and try and rationalize it every way I can to make it happen. Luckily, I have a husband who keeps me grounded. If it weren't for him I'd probably have about 15 parrots:laugh: I go visit my bird store regularly just see some of the older birds that need rehoming. They sell babies but do usually have some adults needing to find a home and my heart goes out to each and every one and I also want each and every one:blink: . There was one 10 year old male grey name Morgan where his mommy passed away:( . He looked so sad. I wanted him really bad but he disliked my husband terribly. After about 3 months he found a home:) Now they have a macaw named Tatoo. He picks a very few feathers around his neck but otherwise seems like such a doll. I'd LOVE to have him. I want them all. With 4 I feel I am at my limit but never know what the future brings. It's not the birds..I could handle more of them but it's the darn cage cleaning:angry: and constant picking up after them. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. You guys have become a big part of my life and appreciate you all. Happy Holidays!!!

Oh yea, Karma to you Penny for bringing this back up:)
-
Great post Penny and I think it's something that should be brought back up. I agree with Spookyhurst and wish myself there wasn't a thumbs down or atleast have to put the reason behind it when you do use it. (I think that would be great) I wouldn't mind that at all. Some people don't care about their karmas but others do. And Caroline I agree with you, too. I also had someone send me a friendship request and then a short time later the person pulled the friendship:( I also didn't know why and did pm the person because I was genuinely concerned but I got no response either. I would have atleast liked to know the reason why. I figured it was probably a misunderstanding that could have been worked but will never know because the person never gave me the courtesy to let me know the reason behind it. I found that hurtful too. It was that same week that gradually started losing karmas. I counted that I lost 20 karmas in about 10 days time! I went back through all my threads to see if I had posted anything that would anger people but what I didn't see that I touched on anything that would be considered controversal. I mainly was welcoming people to the forum. The negative karmas are hurtful but I can see why we should have them also but do think we should put the reason behind it because I think some people take karmas away just for spite. If we gave a reason then members would atleast know the reason behind it and perhaps be more sensitive to the subjects in the future. We are all suppose to be a family here and do not have to always get along like Caroline said but we should be able to agree on disagreeing. Everyone does have their own opinions on topics and that should be respected. Just because someone has a different view doesn't mean they should be spiteful and take karmas away. I think if we hit the thumbs down we should have to give a reason why. It would take care a lot of the spiteful ones for no reasons. Just my opinions:) Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/12/24 16:10

Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/12/24 17:38

That's a very impressive and very attractive stand! I love the natural wood look and really like the ladder:)

Hello and welcome to the forum. Can't wait to hear more about you & Micah!
-
Pugwash, I did not know you lost a grey:( I am so sorry and can understand why you are sad about it. Lets just hope that someone atleast took him in and he is safe and sound this holiday season but would be really nice if he did find his way back to you. And as for the karmas~you are a great person and a great part of the forum. I really enjoy reading your posts and am going to give you another karma for Christmas:) Happy Christmas to you and everyone else on the forum.

Lanibird, I got it on the lip before too. By my eclectus. He is such a snuggler and a lover which made me let my guard down. He was just looking up at me with those cute beady eyes and all sudden I had a bird attached:ohmy: I carried a red imprint of a beak on my bottom lip for a week!!! Thank god for lipstick! I laugh about it now but know it could have really been a serious injury.

I start of with giving Baxter pellets in the mornings. He always gets pellets but along with the pellets he gets something else. Sometimes it is seeds or nuts, other days it is oatmeal, or egg, sometimes fruits or veggies. I keep pellets available all during the day for him to snack on. In the evenings he usually gets some kind of vegetable that I am having with dinner. But I usually keep pellets in his cage all day long. I have to dump them out and refresh a couple times a day depending on how messy things get. :silly:

Great! Another Michigander:) The snow's not so bad. I really like it but these below freezing temps are just awful

I've heard of puttin your head in the sand but putting your head in the food cup is a new one on me:laugh:
-
yea, that's probably why I liked it so much. It sounds so close my greys name. Perhaps he should have been called Casanova though since he is so good at bra straps and zippers:laugh: That was funny. Those are great photos. I like Dexters nice dark color. I've had mine for about 7 months but I rehomed him and he is 12 years old. He has enriched my life so much and I'm sure Dexter will do the same for you. Thanks for sharing your pics. Your playstand is great. I haven't attempted to make one yet but eventually will:silly:

Oh that's terrible Judy. A power outage is now my biggest fear. I hope it's short lived and you have your electric back on quickly. Let us know when it comes back on and how Josey and Sunny handle it.

I watched the video and have to admit I am so jealous of the great relationship you and Bella have. I know Baxter loves and trusts me but would never play like that with me. He's trusts me but he doesn't like to play hard like that. My conure, Bonkers is another story though:woohoo: It is an inspiration to see others videos and how they interact with their parronts and I'm glad you shared it with us. Thansk.

Hi Jenny & Dexter. Welcome to the forum. I can tell by your post you are just having a great time with Dexter. I love that name by the way, too. I can tell you have a great sense of humor too, I had to laugh when you talked about your "crooked carpentering". I bet it's the best tree perch out there though and Dexter wouldn't trade it for the world. We would love to see some photos, of course and love to hear more about your adventures with Dexter.

Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/12/22 05:57

You are doing great with them and I bet they will get along just fine. I like it too when they are up on my shoulders but sometimes they get carried away. This is what's been happening at my house more than I would actually like but it's funny. I do the dishes with Baxter on my shoulder. Dishes are his chore:laugh: Tigger gets to missing me and will fly into the kitchen or close to it. I will have to go get him and since my hands are wet, etc, I just toss him up on the other shoulder. Well, Bonkers the conure is missing out on all the attention and I will hear a loud squak from him and here he comes....and lands directly on top of my head:laugh: They all get along. I guess they are happy as long as they are close and willing to share me:) I just know I must look like some kind of crazy bird lady though:laugh:  As for Cooper, he is coming along extremely well and fitting in nicely. I'm not ready for him to be on the shoulder just yet but I'm sure it's not too far off in the future. I haven't decided if I trust him enough as of yet:unsure:

Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/12/22 00:59

Good for you acting quickly and getting medical attention right off the bat. Tonks is lucky to have someone like you. I bet it could have really gotten bad if you didn't act so quickly and effeciently. I will give you a good karma before the night is over:) Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/12/21 23:08

Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/12/21 23:09

Welcome back. Sounds like the trip was a success and went even better than expected. I can't wait for the day when I get to travel some where with Baxter & Co:)

I am sorry that it has come down to this and I am not going to chew you out about it. I could tell you felt bad writing the post. Atleast you have realized at the birds young age that he will be happier somewhere else and might be best on everyone concerned including your grey. I wish you the best in finding him a new home. They indeed are not for everyone. Only thing I would suggest in rehoming is don't just let anyone have take him. Make sure to some extent that the home is going to will be a good environment for him. I say this because I have rehomed 2 parrots that have come from neglectful environments (so sad) and if you feel you have to rehome him please make sure the new parronts are willing to go above and beyond for him. Posting here on the forum was a good idea because as you know there are so many grey owners that love and cherish these birds. I hope someone from the forum will be interested. Please keep us updated.

Judy, along with the precious snow we got have gotten blessed by the winds. Our high temp today is 8 degrees & with the wind chill factor we are feeling -15.{Feel-bad-00020079} You are welcome to come to my house and enjoy it for a week or so if you like:) But what I am doing now is feeling very content. I just came back from getting the last gift of this season and am going to be wrapping it shortly. All that's left is opening the goodies. Feels good to be finished{Holidays-00020134}
