Hi, My local supermaket has got red palm oil but with canola oil mixed Any thoughts? Thanks Nims
  4. How terrible!! Well im glad your bird is in good spirits. I would start giving your bird a calcium supplement (if you dont already....this will help with the beak re-growing) As Dan said try a variety of slurry foods, hand feeding formula, oatmeal or baby food. Good luck. Nims

  9. Hi, Most of you may know that Indy had a scare a few weeks ago. Since then she has been a little wary of me but is soooooo much better now. My question is that since that day she has been sleeping in the at the bottom of her cage in a corner. She is not sick in any way (we just went to the vets) but this is something she has started to do after her nightmare. Prior to that she always slept on her favourite perch. Any suggestions as to why she is doing this? Thanks Nims
  10. i do, I am so fearless with it, it sometimes puts her off! Thats what they are looking for a reaction so I make sure she doesnt get it.
  11. hi, depending on what you bird may be eating the poop may give off some odours. However from what you have written I would suggest calling the vet to make sure they may want you to bring the bird in. Thanks Nims

  18. Hi Bluekkiwi, Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy reading the threads as there is lots of info on greys and other birds too. Good luck in acquiring your grey! Nims
  19. Oh the all important question. Yes you can give your gret a bath. Some like it some hate it. Mine used to scream blue murder!! I tried everything from misting to a shallow dish. Bathing is natural for them in the wild (rain) and it helps them keep their feathers nice and clean and stops their skin from being too dry. Their feather are also water proof so they do need to be completely soaked. Do not bath your grey in the evening as it can get to cold. I usually bathe mine in the morning in our tub. Other members take them into their showers! You really have to see what works for your grey. Just make sure the water is tepid some owners give their greys a cold bath, its totally up to you. You may want to mist them with aloe juice after their shower keeps their feathers in good condition and stops their skin from drying out ot being irratable I think thats all from me! 20. Sometime they do have off days and can be surlier than usual if they dont get enough sleep. Is your CAG eating well? I have read that sudden change in behaviour could be a sign of illness. I would give him some space and if it continues further take your bird to the vet. It could also be the terrible twos!!! However CAGs are good at body language you just have to observe and read his/her behaviour. 21. Hi Tony, Welcome to the forum! Nims
  22. nice post most people dont get to notice this. I didnt until a few months ago!
  23. In that case I'm all out.......sorry! Maybe some of the other members will be able to provide some more input on this. However its just could be that sharkie is taking some time to settle in. My advice is be patient and dont expect too much from him just yet. Nims
  24. You could buy some foot toys for him to play with, do you have any places for the bird to perch outside of his cage? If not he could be flying there as he sees it as somewhere he can perch. Is he flying to a hard to reach place because of the Goffin? Does he step up yet? Nims
  25. I live in the UK but I'm sure others in the US will be able to help you out! My advice would be make sure you visit the breeder ask plenty of questions check out where the birds are being kept. Look out for any major signs of ill health in a baby (fluffed up appearance, discharge from eyes/nasal ares, debris around face and feathers and laboured breathing/panting). Nims
