  1. Yes you guys are right my CAG does this also. She sits on top of her cage trying to fly off with it, she does this with her playstand also. My CAG is also fully flighted also but I really wouldnt worry about the flapping. When she does start flapping like mad in her cage I take her out and let her fly around the house for a while. Nims
  2. Hi, Your AG will be left alone at some point and leaving she/he alone sometimes is good for the parrot. They need some "me" time too after all. Myself and my husband work work and there are times when she is left alone for upto 8 hours. As long as there is plenty of food and fresh water and lots of toys to keep them entertained they should be fine. If you are worried that your bird is not eating while you are out make sure you feed him/her before you leave. I usually feed my CAG some warm oatmeal which goes down a treat! Hope this helps! Nims
  3. Hi, I think offering something different each day is really good for your bird. AG need more than just a seed/pellet diet. My AG enjoys exotic fruit as they have a stronger taste such as fresh papaya, pineapple and passion fruit. If you are looking to add some spice add some chilli flakes (i would not suggest chilli powder as other things may have been added to make the powder) or even better buy some fresh chillies. You can add this to some mashed potato/sweet potato or even the scrambled egg. Nims

    Falling

Hi, I had the same problem with my CAG Indy when I first brought her home. She has a large cage and she was falling off her perch on to the bottom of her cage. We then put her perches lower to the cage floor and her perches closer together. Make sure your AG can reach food/water at all times. Don't be afraid to make changes to the cage and change things around a bit. I also suggest a sturdy ladder from the bottom of the cage to a perch. If she does fall then she can get back to her perch! Hope this helps!! Nims
  5. Hi, My CAG Indy likes to cuddle up in my lap in the evenings after dinner and before bed and she will happily sit there for hours!!! I have flipped her over and she has fallen her sleep on her back several times but she can bite if she is not in the mood! I did not know older birds can be triggered and become sexually fustrated by the cuddling and back rubs. Thanks for the advice. Nims
  6. Lovemygreys, I just bought an aviator harnersss, my CAG is nearly six months old and I cant wait to try it on her. I think she will have a great time flying outside in the open air. Thanks for the thread Nims

  8. Hi, Hyacinth macaws are native to south america and one of the largest species of macaws and dont know therr own strength. The are an endangered species and can no longer be imported and breeding programs have been set up to help. However they are the most laid back and gentle of all macaws and look extremely beautiful.

  12. Hi, My CAG Indy is on a pellet based diet (Harrisons). I usually give her some oatmeal for breakfast which is loaded with carbs and keeps her going. Handfeeding also keeps the bond strong. During the day she has access to the pellets which she likes and fresh water. In the evening she has fresh fruit (apple, grapes, mango, passion fruit) and veggies (corn, spinach, watercress, rocket, carrots, broccoli etc). She does have her treats in the form of mixed nuts.
