Twas the night before a christmas tail! Twas the night before christmas, and the Big Man in red, He knew that the grey was avoiding her bed! Her humans were weary and longed for their sleep, So they turned out the light and prayed for safe keep. But the Grey wasn't tired and she longed to see, Santa Claus come and put toys neath the tree! The tree that was sparkling and stood 8 ft tall, The grey told herself "I'm not frightened at all"! With her shiny black beak and her bright yellow eyes, She went to the window and looked up to the skies, The snow falling thick was a joy to behold, And could produce magic men, she once had heard told. Then cocking her head, a faint sound caught her ear, She looked up and saw Kris Kringle draw near! The little Grey flew, and swooped with delight, As Santa Claus now came into her sight A round little man, so lively and quick, She knew in a flash that it must be St Nick. She whistled with glee as closer they came, And he whistled right back - calling reindeer by name! "So Dasher! so, Dancer! so, Prancer and Vixen! Go, Comet! go, Cupid! go, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the perch! And over the wall! Then dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!" A big jolly man with a fluffy white beard, And the jolliest laugh that she ever had heard. His reindeer and he came to land on the roof And the little grey heard sounds of bell and of hoof! As he came down the chimney the grey fled in alarm! "Be calm, little bird!" and he held out an arm! This was something she knew, so she lowered her head, And he gave her a scratch and then put her to bed. "For I'm Father Christmas, and have much work to do, Delivering treats to good birdies, like you!" So he snuggled her into her own little bed, It was then that he noticed her tail was bright red! "My goodness that tail is so red, it near glows" It's the perfect support for my Rudolph's red nose! So when comes Christmas eve, as a dense foggy night, Won't you come along, and be our tail light?" The little grey sighed, so happy was she, Santa came, and she saw him leave toys neath the tree! And as he left he could hear the Grey whisper - so slight, "Merry Christmas to all - and to all, a good night!" By Pearllyn, inspired by the poem "Twas the night before Christmas" by Clement Clarke Moore (1779 - 1863)

Did you get it sorted out Bernie?

Happy Hatchday Harvey! You're doing an excellent job of keeping your Human paranoid and panicky - on her toes as she should be! We ought to compare notes one day as I'm sure we could share tricks! Hope you had a great day! Alfie xx

Lol - good pic tho! Some of those men must be serious protestors - the one in the front looks angry!!
-
That's a good tip! I shall try Alfie on it! Thanks!

Another recent obsession of Alfies is the lampshade that sits on the computer desk - this is it after she finally killed it off..... ....and this was our attempts at keeping her off of it before the final fatal attack..... Needless to say it didn't work!!

Hi Jenny, I have used Midland Parrot aswell and do find them to be very friendly and helpful, however, depending on where in the uk you are, the postage can be quite high. I mostly use Northern Parrots and find them to have a huge range and reasonable quick delivery. I would recommend either!

I know nothing! Sorry!

Like your twig Bernie! Ours isn't up yet - will post when it is tho!

Hi Abe, Welcome to the Forum. Sorry to hear of your loss - grey's can be as sensitive as us in these types of circumstances. It sounds as if Thathamo was very close with your Dad. Being patient with her is a must, and perhaps as Greywings has said, be careful wit the scolding. Before she bonds with you, she may resent you for scolding! Just be sure to continue to reward the behaviour you want, and ignore the behaviour you don't want. Does she have a favourite treat? Short training sessions maybe two or three times a day give the best results - that way your bird won't get bored and lose interest in what you are teaching her. Good luck with her and keep us informed of your progress. Well done too for taking on an older bird - it's not an easy task - but a very rewarding one. Lyn & Alfie. x

Hi Trail_rider, Well done for bringing home this little bird, she sounds like a real sweetie, but a sensitive wee soul who will thrive on you love and care. As dave says, do keep in touch even before you bring Francis home - you will get a ton of info on here that will help! Lyn & Alf x -
Same to you folks - have a good one! Hehe Dee - I couldn't resist the hat! Lol Jill - I hadn't thought of that! I have been out a few nights this week......Nah!!

Hi Dolfan, Sorry to hear of your birds problems, but hopefully you wil find a suitable sollution so he can enjoy a full and active life. Perhaps if you have enough toys and activities on the floor of his cage, he won't need to climb up there, and that way there is no risk of him losing hold while he is high up and falling and hurting himself. Good luck with him. If that is a picture of him on your avitar, he is a handsome chap!!

Hay Folks! Alfie and I would just like to wish all our Forum Friends a very merry christmas! We started about a fortnight ago trying to teach her to say Merry Christmas, and so far, she says "christmas" and "hello Mary (merry!)"! Who knows - she might put the two together, but it's the thought that counts, and we mean every word! Seasons Greetings Folks! Lyn & Alfie xx
