  1. We do miss you when we haven't seen you for a while Howardine, but you take care of yourself - that's the most important thing. x
  2. Well done Jess, on getting the harness on and Yoshi out for a nice walk - sounds like you had a fine time. I find the tightening of the harness the fiddley bit that takes the time too - one little trick, if you don't do it already, where you have to feed the belt throught the buckle to tighten it, before you put the harness on , leave the little section of harness that is actually in the buckle, a little loose, like raised, so it's easy to get a hold of and you can tighten it quick. Lol, I love the reactions you get off folk - we were out with Alfie yesterday and one old couple took her photo! Looking forward to seeing those photos.
  3. What a precious picture Janet. Gabriel and Ana Grey look very much at ease with each other. He sounds like exactly the kind of person you would trust your baby with. Thanks for sharing. x
  4. What a sad thread this is turning out to be. It really makes my heart to sink to think that this a) might be a hoax - most of the people on this forum are decent, genuine folk who really care for these birds and it's not fair to be causing this sort of concern for no reason other than a cheap thrill, and b) this might not be a hoax, and there is acutally a vulnerable little baby out there who very possibly might not be getting the care he needs. Laker, you've been offered help here, regarding the age and leg issue of your baby, and yet you are not taking it - all it takes is a photo to put these questions out of the way, and yet you "can't be bothered" to use photobucket - a 5 minute job. Here's hoping you can be bothered to take him to the vet - he must be due a visit now. Jillybeanz has raised some valid questions - did Grandad not realise this was a 3 day old chick rather than a 3 week old? I really really hope this thread has a happy ending.
  5. Lol Jill - Harvey's mate is sitting right here - £££s spent on wood and sisal toys, and all Alfie wants to chew are cigarette papers and the couch! Some excellent ideas folks - thanks.
  6. Lol - good one!! It sure is! Woohoo!
  7. She's your baby Bernie - you'll handle her fine!! Sounds awesome, have fun!!! And remember to take along a cameraman!!
  8. Thanks folks. It was really the bar spacing I was concerned about, but if you lot think this'll be ok, that's good enough for me!! This sort of cage is about double the size of her travel cage, it just gives her a bit more space. And yes Janet - I suspect there will be many photos!!! LOL!!!!
  9. I'm just wondering if something like this would be ok for Alfie for short spells? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380233822763&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Now before anyone jumps on me about how inappropriate it would be to put a CAG in a Tiel cage, we're going camping this summer and rather than take her current travel cage, which I think would be a tad small, I wondered if this would be fine for the trips. It's really the bar spacing I'm wondering about, would they be ok, or could toes or something get stuck. She'll hopefully be out and harnessed more than she's caged - just somewhere to sleep and travel, and ...........well you get my drift. Thoughts please? x
  10. Lol - sounds familiar Jill - Dan's right though, he will figure it out and your fingers will be safe again! Thanks for the visual though - gave me a right giggle!! Hope your fingers aren't too sore!
  11. Sorry to hear you are all still going through this - I thought the same as Jill - no news is good news. Spock, is that the new vet who said about the nutrients? Hope you start to feel better soon. x
  12. How fascinating! I have always admired the loyalty and sense of family displayed by corvids. Intereseting post - thanks for this.
  13. How funny - they're just like kids aren't they! She sure is giving that toy what for. Thanks for the pics.
  14. My goodness, that must be such a worry. The Skin-so-soft is a good idea though - at least as a deterrant, I've used it also, I think it's the green one that's more effective against the bugs. Keep all your birdies safe.
  15. Bless him. it won't be long though before he has a full bum of red feathers!! Thanks for the pics.
  16. Lol - I'm only part crazy - I got 10 yes's and 3 no's!! Funny post Dave. Thanks.
  17. Sounds lovely Penny! Can't wait to see the pics!!
  18. Today we packed up all the girls, plus our Mum's and had a lovely picnic in Northumberland. Alfie Came along of course and I've never ever seen her so at ease while traveling! She was so relaxed, she brought her friends along - the little piggy and the little ducky - plus a little chicken made an appearance and she sung to them all to boot!!! Normally she is fairly quiet while the car is moving, but not so today - she even had a munch on the move!!! We tried her harness a couple of times, but she wasn't interested, she was obviously happy enough in her cage!
  19. Lol - it was short lived! She refused it today, but I didn't feel quite so bad about it knowing it was her choice, and I think she understands now, the choice she is making!
  20. Chernobyl? I see a life size statue and the burial site of Red Rum.
  21. That looks great Jess - well done for persevering and having a succesful outing - keeping it short and sweet will helf her to accept it! It looks fine - there should be just enough room to allow her muscles and chest etc to move if she should fly in it. Thanks for the update.
  22. Ooh sorry - she didn't actually "say" that - I meant she implied it with her actions. When I read it back just now I realised how it read - Sorry! Lol - this story just got a whole lot less interesting!!!!
  23. Lol Dee - that's funny! What a lovely little story though. How kind of Kopi to welcome her in such a way. He looks like a real thinker. Thanks for the update.
  24. Just a quick recap on Alfie's aviator history, she took to it like a duck to water last year, then around october started to refuse it vehimently! She was moulting at the time so I let it be, didn't try it over the winter, and it's been hit and miss since we started again with it last month - sometimes she accepts it - no questions, sometimes she wont even look at it. Today we'd been away most of the day, so when we came in, just packed everone up and took them out for some fresh air. We got to where we were going, with Alf in her travel cage, I tried her with the harness before we took the dogs for a walk, but she said " no thank you" in no uncertain terms. We didn't argue with her, just put her back in her cage and went for our walk. Came back 20 minutes later and offered her the harness again, and she said, "well, ok then" !!!!! Still not 100% convinced, but she would obviously rather have it on and go with us, than refuse it and get left behind, and she made the decision to do so!! It just goes to show, give a bird a chance and they will generally figure it out for themselves! Me loves me bird. xx
  25. Lol Jill, you're not often wrong, but I'll bet you're glad you are this time!!!
