  1. I thought I had a vet that treated Tobie a little rough, but actually it bothered me more that him after it was all over. He sat on my shoulder in the car going home singing with the radio.
  2. We all want our Greys to talk. I'm so excited for you. Congrats.
  3. She's peeping out the window! What a great experience for her.
  4. Same for Tobie. He doesn't like putting it on. The trick for me is just staying calm while he grabs it with his feet etc. If I just keep moving slowly and talking calmly, we manage ok. It's really nice once it's on. Tobie used a flight suit all summer and really was pretty good about putting it on, but once it was on he chewed the straps alot and in the process he chewed his feathers around the straps. He doesn't chew the aviator harness once it's on.
  5. Great photography. you really stopped the movement
  6. Great video! Bad bird bad bird, what'cha gonna do!
  7. Wonderful videos. I love to see him being so happy flying with his aviator harness.
  8. Ohh!! HAAHAAHAA! That's funny. Had kind of a rough day and I needed that.
  9. Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!
  10. Love Hannah Raes story. Mosfatal makes a point I've been wondering about. Do the birds understand the concept of names? Tobie will call the dogs one by one. Let's go Pogo, come on Tucker etc. But I'm not sure he looks at Tucker and knows Tucker is his name. When I walk into the room he sais "What's up Tobie". I keep saying to him, "you're Tobie, I'm mama, or I'm big bird (he used to say what's up big bird). I think he understands that "What's up Tobie" is a greeting, but doesn't know he just asked himself what's up. Do Your birds know their own names?
  11. Wow! That's younger that Tobie was. I'll bet you'll have quite a chatterbox.
  12. You have done very well to keep your bird healthy and safe for that long. I hope I can do that with Tobie, but in 35 years I'll be 94yo. Guess I'll have to find a nursing home that allows pets. Tobie is not quite two years old.
  13. Thank's so much for your comments. Whatever I am doing around the house has become fun even if it's a chore, because Tobie entertains me. He will be two years old on June 15th this year.
  14. How adoreable - I want to squeeze that little bird.
  15. I remember when I first bought Tobie getting almost histerical because I read an article about zinc toxicity and that some of the metal parts on "made for birds" toys might be zinc coated. I replaced all the metal parts I could and through away toys I couldn't be sure of. I'm not as hysterical about it now, but I still haven't cleaned my self cleaning oven and I'm not sure if I will.
  16. All of these stories are so great. Estreams story was so touching and funny. Tobie has never learned that HE is Tobie. Frank would go by the cage and say "whats up big bird". Then when I came in the room, Tobie would say "whats up big bird" so I thought I was big bird. Now he has learned his name and sais "whats up Tobie" when I come in the room. Today i was cleaning the aquarium and Tobie said "what's up Tobie". I said "You're Tobie. I'm big bird. What's up big bird". Then he said "What's up Tobie bird"
  17. HeatherStella said all the things that make me love Tobie. I know he's a bird and a non domesticated animal, but when he talks and even uses correct intonations for the situation and appropriate words for a situation and laughs some times appropriately! Well what can I say. He is just the most endearing little guy.
  18. Thank's! He's quite a ham. I wasn't even behind the camera most of the time and yet he was facing the camera and showing off.
  19. I love it when Tobie makes the telephone ringing sound and then sais "Hello, What're you doing" and then some unintelligible conversational type noises like -uh-huh. yeah. mumbles-********.
  20. Baxter's mom, (I watched some youtube videos on how they put it on and it really helped me alot. We tried some more and I really ) What you tube videos are you talking about. I still have to kind of sneak the loop around Tobies head and he will bite me if he can before I can move my hands. After I get that part done he is ok, but then he grabs the strap around his chest with his feet if he can some times. He's only had it on three or four times. Maybe the you tube videos will help.
  21. I love the fact that your bird is communicating in doggy language with Artie. I don't think you have a prayer of stopping it unless Artie stops barking. Soon Ashe will reallize that he is one up on Artie in that not only can he communicate in dog, but he can speek human as well. Then he'll be bossing the dog around "Artie stop that, artie go out side, etc." Keep us posted. When it happens, keep in mind, I'm not psycic. I just own a grey.
  22. The little "girl" is very smart indeed. I can't wait to follow the posts as she develops her speech.
  23. Tobie went for walks on trails around the lakes around Boone and for car rides. We visit my mother and mother-in-law. Tobie gets lots of attention and I'll admit that I like the attention and opportunity to talk about Tobie. My mother lives in a retirement center and the residents enjoyed him as well. He wore a flight suit last summer but we are trying to get used to the aviator harness now. I think the aviator harness is more comfortable for him, but it doesn't have a poop pouch. The lack of poop pouch will limit where I can take Tobie.
  24. I like the quality and the price is reasonable. I especially like that she owns grey parrots and lets them rate her toys for enjoyability. Two grey heads on the toy means a double seal of approval from her greys. http://www.nalanitoys.com/
  25. Congratulations!!! What a great time you are in for.
