  1. You have to open a photo bucket account down load your pictures there then copy the img code and paste it here it works everytime. To copy the img code just click on it twice
  2. That is so sweet how can you say no when its love at first site. Tyco was like that whe she first saw me also and I had to go back 3 times before I finnished paying for her and everytime she saw me it was the same this streaching her neck toward me letting me kiss her beak and rub it she really want to be with me badley It didn't take long for her to come home with me. The rest is history. I loved to see some pictures of your new Jardines and Cocom yours also I haven't seen very many of them and would love to see some. I hear they are very Pretty one of the prettiest of all the African birds. I read some where that they are sometimes called the African Amazon.
  3. Gizmo is still haveing problems with coming out of his cage. Although he did come out when my daughter and I where putting up the xmas tree. I guess he liked the lights and wanted to get a closer so he could see them better. I know he wants to come out because he gets out onto the door and the gets nervous and goes back in. Anyway here's a couple new pics of my beautiful boy sorry about the quality Gizmo is terrified of the flash and I took them at night so the light isn't very good Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/11/26 07:29 Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/11/26 08:28<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/11/26 14:08
  4. Talon I hope that everything works out for you and Rocky I would be so happy to know that Rocky will have a home with someone as knowledgable and that loves these wonderful birds as much as you.
  5. Tyco is very large 580 gr she has very dark grey feathers on her back and wings and her chest and tummy are very light grey the tips of her flight feathers are so dark they are almost black. also usually the big African Greys are light Grey almost silver all over. she has a perfect stance and she long a lean looking not stumpy looking she also has very long flight feathers from the back you can only see about an 1/8 of an inch of her tail because her flight feathers cover it she is also missing 2 flight feathers on her left side. She also has a habit of going WOOOOO every time she sees me. All I'd really have to say is Tyco c'mer and she would walk over to me.
  6. Like Dave said when he acts like that put him on his play stand or cage he needs to know that if he bahaves like that he won't get the attention he wants he will soon stop.<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/11/25 23:49
  7. Oh yeah its the messiest thing in the world but they do love it so much I put ponagrenate in Tyco bowl and she's as happy as a clam for hours and the walls and her cage and everything within a 3 ft space is covered in red pomagrante juice.
  8. Oh my poor baby she must have been in so much pain and probubly still is did the Doctor give her anything for the pain. how many times a day do the drops need to be administered? You probubly will have to towel her to put the drops in did the Dr show you how to hold her after you get her toweled its not hard just put one hand around her neck just above her crop so she can't bite or move her head. Just make sure you tell her what your doing and why tell her that your going to make her ear feel better and the towel won't hurt her. try to use a green or white towel it will be less frightening for her. just a few hints I hope this helps a little.
  9. Preditor birds are a huge problem where I live there is a wild bird sancuary just down the street we have tons of Hawks and Bald Eagles everywhere. So a harness around here would be just to dangerous. Even when the birds are out on my sundeck you can see the hawks circleing I always sit right beside my birds when they are out there. The hawks are not afraid of humans and if my birds where not in a cage I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to grab one of my birds right off my shoulder. The preditor birds are gorgous to watch and there are always tons of people comeing to the lake to take pictures of the Bald Eagles fishing they sit in the trees on the edge of the water sometimes there are 20 or 30 Eagles sitting in one tree waiting for a fish to come close to the top of the water. Its wonderful and beautiful to watch but I certinaly wouldn't want to see one of my baby's In the Talons of any of those birds. I'll keep my birds saftly in a cage no harness for my birds.
  10. I know how hard it is to say no also speicaly when a bird needs a good home despartly. I was at my limit before I got Gizmo and really didn't want another bird but He was in such a desparate situation I could not say no to him. I will be fine for room once my older daughter gets on her feet and move into her own place again then I will have a spare room to turn into a bird room Right now I have birds all over the house Tyco and Fergie are in my room the smaller birds are in the kitchen and Gizmo is in the dining room. I have no Idea when she is going to move out. she moved out last March and came back home Sept.1 and she was oly supposed to be here for a month oh well what can you do you gotta help your kids when they need it. I'm thinking mabie I may just take the dining room table out of the dining room, because we always eat at the kitchen table anyway and then I could turn the dining room into a bird room. That way at least all the birds would be in one room instead of all over the place.
  11. I'm so glad that shadow has decieded screaming with mom is allot more fun then screaming for her. He has a wonderful Mom who has brilliantly fixed a very big problem. I'm sure Shadow looks forward to that 30 minutes of screaming with you and if your are feeling stressed it will also help you to get some of those feelings out also. Ilove a happy ending and I'm so glad that you and Shadow are working together to get the problems in your relationship Ironed out good for you I'm so happy for you and shadow
  12. Tyco has a very large vocabulary and always has to put her 2 cents worth in when ever me and my daughter are talking she speaks in context and even asks for things that she want like help picking up her toys and different foods that she wants. I didn't have her as a baby but I know that she learns very quikly. It definatly sounds like you are going to have to watch what you say around her she will be picking up new things that should not be repeated.
  13. We had our thank giving last month so I'm fine now till Christmas I had my fill of Turkey and pumpkin pie. My birds are all great I still haveing a few problems with Gizmo comeing out if his cage he came out the other night when we where putting up the christmas tree but he hasn't come out since. Rajas great following me aroud everywhere I go. I'm sick with a cold at the moment so I don't feel like doing much of anything but I'll live . Have a great thanksgiving talk to you soon
  14. My birds are also quiet at night in the morning Tyco likes to quietly go through her whole vocabulary but she is in my bedroom and although she catters away to herself she's not loud and i doesn't keep me awake. My Amazon and other birds don't make a sound until I uncover their cages. I think all birds when covered stay quiet. as long as its dark its still night to them and they stay quiet in the dark I think its instinced so that night preditors don't hear them.
  15. I too love the Amazon speicies Ihave the sweetest most loveing wonderful funny very playful amazon there is. She is cuddly and loveing she has never bit me in the 9 years that I've had her she is the best. She is also very noisy at times like when I'm on the phone or doing something that takes me away from her attention for to long but I couldn't live without her she is the best. She also gets along with Tyco quite well they are friends. <br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/11/24 23:29
  16. I want to get one of those adventure paks for my birds as well I have a small travel cage that is light weight and great for car trips but I'd love to have something like a backpack to take on walking trips to the beach or park or just to take them for a walk when I take the dogs for a walk. My birds have an outside cage for at home and a trvel cage for going out but no back pack or easy carrier that I could just walk with them I've seen the adventure packs advertized but Tyco is a very large bird for a Grey and I don't know if she would be comfortable in that or not. If any one has one that also has a large Grey I would be innterested in hearing your coments. Linda you said you have one for Maxi is it big enough for Tanner also.
  17. I certianly found out that she has a stubborn streak. It was kind of funny the way she was acting but I didn't dare laugh in front of her that would have made thing even worse. She would make a point of giving my daughter kisses and attention right in front of me and then if I walked over she would turn her back and walk away if I gave her a walnut she would drop it then my daughter would give her one and she would take it and eat it. She was just mad. I could tell she still loved me becuase she would try to make me jealous she finally decided after a couple new toys that she was going get over it. I guess she missed her goodnight scritches and kiss good night. So now she making up for it in a very big way. I'm sure she will settle down and things will get back to normal but right now its nice to see her being so affectionate. I don't think it really has anything todo with Gizmo she hasn't shown any intrest at all. Fergie is the only bird that showed any kind of intrest and now that she has met him she's fine with him. My birds adapt fairly quickly to new flock members. They are all pretty excepting and laid back about it. Just one big happy family sometimes I forget the pecking order and Fergie lets me know real quick that she's first but other than that every body gets along great.
  18. Oh yea now the fun begins. Zzero will be talking up a storm in no time. You won't be able to have a conversation without him putting his opinion in there. He will also be impersonating everyone in the house and sound more like them than they do. Tyco is always getting me with that one Tyco will scream MOM MOM and I will go see what my daughter wants and she will look at me like I totally lost my mind. and its that darn bird impersonating my daughters voice and I can't tell the difference. There's nothing like a Grey to keep life interesting:laugh:  :woohoo:
  19. I am so sorry for your loss I know how hard it is to lose a good friend. I recently lost a very good friend of mine do to a tragic accident. All I can say is that in time it gets easier to live with. and mabie when your ready you can get yourself another bird. It won't be the one you lost but it may help fill the gap if you have a new friend to give your love to. I don't know about stringy poop so I can't help you there. mabie he was just sick. Birds are very good at hiding their illnesses so there is a good chance you would not even notice if he was sick until he was very very sick. This is not your fault and if it was the teflon pan then if you get a new companion when your mom is cooking with teflon you should take him right away from the area and play with him in your room until your mom finishes cooking. Your birds lungs work differently then ours and they will die from certain things very quickly. Thats why miners use canarys in mines to see if there is any hiden gases the bird will die very quickly where it would take us allot longer. If you do get another bird mabie you could ask your mom to use stainless steel or cast iron for cooking. It would definatly help not to put your bird in needless danger. Take heart your little bird flys free over rainbow bridge he will be waiting there for you.<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/11/24 10:51
  20. It looks like Tyco's and my Relationship has soared to new Heights She was mad at me for 2 days after I took her to the vet and of course Like us all I tryed to bribe her to get her to talk to me again I bought her a couple new toys and made her favorite things to eat. She was so mad she wouldn't even take a treat from me. Then after she finally forgave me our relationship changed. she comes to me now rather than me haveing to go to her she wants to be with me all the time. she snuggles and kisses and wants scritches constantly. mabie it was the trip to the vet because I sat her cage on the front seat beside me and tryed to keep her feeling as secure as possible. I had to make a few stops that day and I never left her by herself I took her in with me. I actually thought she was enjoying her time out. Then when we got home and she wouldn't talk to me. I thought she was just mad and wasn't going to talk to me ever again. Then she pulls a total 360 go figure birds. Anyway I just wanted to tell you all about whats happened and if this is the kind of reation you get when You take your bird to the vet I should have taken her a long time ago.

  23. Thats absolutly wonderful news and I have some for you also Me and Andraya my youngest daughter were putting up the xmas tree and since Gizmo is in the diningroom he can see whats going on in the livingroom well his curiosity got the better of his and he came out of his cage and was sitting on the door. when I turned and said oh wow what a brave boy you are thats a good boy he went back in but he did come back out again for a couple seconds so he is starting to think about it anyway mabie in a week or so he will be comfortable enough to come out and stay out I'm so happy it won't be long now for Tanner or Gizmo. Yeah for Tanner yeah for Gizmo:laugh:
  24. My vet says nutritionly they are the same. So it doesn't really matter. Tyco Likes to dunk her pellet but I don't like her to do that because she eats all day and I end up having to change her water everytime she has a pellet or 2. For that reason alone its worth buying the fine ones that she doesn't have to dunk. I hate changeing her water 10 to 15 times a day. She seems to really enjoy them now that she's actually tried them. I started giving them to her on thursday night after seeing the vet, she didn't start eating them until this morning I took her seed dish away from her because she was digging through it and dumping all the seeds out of her dish so then because she was hungry she tryed the harrisond and has been eating them fine ever since I guess she liked them after she tasted them Fergie hasn't even tryed them yet so we will shall see if she likes them after she trys them I may have to take away all her other food for a couple hours but if she would at least try them i'm sure she would like them.
  25. I took Tyco to the vet the other day and while I was there I picked up a small bag of Harrison fine pellets. My birds have always eaten Zupreen fruity maintenance but lately I've notice that Tyco and Fergie havn't been eating them so I thought I'd try the harrison I bought the fine so that all my birds could eat them from Cockateils to Macaw. and I'm very pleased that they all seem to like them except Fergie and she's always been a tough one to get her to eat any pellets anyway. Now I have a delema though. I don't now If I should just stick to the fine or by the course ones for the bigger birds. They don't seem to mind eating the fine one do you think I should just keep them all on the fine blend?
