  1. They are hilarious! Thanks for sharing your stories...
  2. I wish! Klaus makes very cool noises and has been mumbling to himself a LOT. I'm told he said, "Good Bird!" once when I wasn't home. That's so cool what Talon is doing, though... What fun!
  3. The weather is warm. The windows are open. And the neighborhood cats are fighting. And guess what new sound Klaus is making? Yep, that delightful music that could only be called, "Cat fight!". Right now I'm listening to him... It's a constant stream of a few notes of Andy Griffith, a squirrel, a water drip, a little cat fight, some Sanford & Son, random mumbles, more on the cats, etc. He's cracking me up! We were all laughing and reacting to the cat fight noises so of course he's doing it a lot. It got him some attention didn't it? LOL
  4. That is so cool! Love your pictures with the "tele-strator" too!
  5. He is gorgeous! What a sweetie... Anyway, yes. Biting is a problem. I am Klaus' favorite person in the world, and I still get a nip or two - sometimes not gentle either! I think rule #1 is that you've gotta be able to take a bite. We're a tough bunch us grey owners! LOL Other ways to minimize biting: Always approach slowly and quietly. Your boyfriend, sister, and friend may just happen to be "mellower" people and so don't rile your bird. Who knows? When interacting with your bird, turn your head to the side, narrow your eyes a little, lower your head and stick your neck out a little. Sounds crazy, but it will make you appear friendly. Always approach with your hand from the side or the back of the bird. Approaching from the top or the front will get a defensive reaction. Hope that helps... Best of luck!
  6. Klaus rhymes with "mouse." I know for sure because I saw the movie, too! LOL
  7. Yeah, Happy Birthday Charlie! Hope you get spoiled rotten today...
  8. Thank you! Yes, 1.4 million people - it's kind of staggering isn't it? We also have the biggest fireworks show in North America and some years close to that number show up for that. Here's one more thing that is cool, then I promise I will shut up and try to keep my comments to the topic of greys... I read this in the paper this morning about the Cup: (From a Montreal newspaper article describing the first game for the Stanley Cup in 1894) (1894!) "The hockey championship was decided tonight, and never before in the history of the game was there so large a crowd or so much enthusiasm. There were fully 5,000 persons present at the match; and the tin horms, strong lungs and a general rabble predominated. The match resulted in favor of Montreal by three goals to one. The referee forgot to see many things. The ice was fairly good." 5,000 persons? LOL A "general rabble"? Gotta love a "general rabble". It's amazing - a tradition since 1894. I'm so proud to be a part of it if only as a fan.
  9. Hey, Dan - I didn't know Dayo meant "Joy Arrives." I always just thought he was named for the song... See, I learn something new every time I come here! Klaus is named after Klaus Baudelaire, a character in Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events". I often wonder if people see Klaus' name and just think we're a little bit TOO into Christmas! LOL
  10. This is AWESOME! It's the 4th cup since I've been old enough to know...but it's thrilling every time. There was a parade here for the Wings today and 1.4 million people showed up!
  11. The Cup is back here in Hockeytown! Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!
  12. They sure did, Judy! I don't know whether to laugh, cry, fall down...
  13. Dan, your pictures so inspired me that I signed up for a "10-lb Challenge" at my gym. I am supposed to get personalized support and analysis from the owner of the gym until I lose 10# - and she's also supposed to make sure I keep it off. Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead I say!
  14. Yep he definitely marches to the beat of his own drum at times! Never fails to get me smiling and giggling... almost worth the trouble he puts me through!
  15. Yeah, thanks guys! Actually the Red Wings are known for having fans that have never set foot in Detroit. People just like 'em! I'm sooooo excited - it's almost game time!
  16. It's funny how you can assume everyone must know who you're talking about! The Detroit Red Wings are our NHL hockey team. Does anyone play ice hockey in the UK? Almost all the players here are Canadians, Russians, Czechs and Swedes.
  17. Still no talking - lots of muttering so I'm sure he's getting ready to appear on Letterman any day now... But what's cracking me up is that he knows how to whistle two songs and frequently mixes them up. He can whistle the theme from Andy Griffith, and Scott recently taught him the theme from Sanford & Son. So, Klaus will be whistling away one song and suddenly veer into the other. It cracks me up. Almost always, he's practicing the new one and suddenly falls back into the old one. So cute! You've just gotta wonder what's going on in that little birdie brain...
  18. I can hardly believe it... One more game and Lord Stanley's Cup comes back here to Detroit. Or, if you are from Canada: Dee-troy-it. Woooooooooooooooooooooo-hoooooooooooooooo! GO WINGS!
  19. Wow, not the proudest moments of the 80's & 90's... If you want to know what was good about music in those decades, please see The Cure, The B-52's, The Cult, The Smiths, REM, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, The Violent Femmes, Beastie Boys... I could go on and on. Just please: Steer clear of Billy Ray and also New Kids. Ok? LOL
  20. Klaus is a shoulder bird. I tried my darndest to fight it when we first got him, but he won. He wore me down. I know what you mean about them not feeling real secure up there when you're walking around. I walk and move very carefully when I have Klaus on me. I like Christina's idea of training them to understand "Hold on" when you're about to move or bend. I'll have to try it!
  21. I like to cut a piece of paper towel tube, crimp one end, pop a treat (like a walnut) in there and crimp the other end. Great foraging treat & practically free! For variation, sometimes I'll put a peanut into one of those teeny pieces of Gladware (disposable plastic containers with lids). Klaus loves tearing that up to get to the treat. Also, the old stand-bys ~ plastic milk rings and milk bottle caps, yogurt cups that have been emptied & rinsed, Qtips, straws cut to a safe length... Just look around your house - you're sure to find lots of stuff!
  22. Dan, you're KILLING me! Ok, here's what's happening in my neck of the woods... You guys know I quit smoking, right? Yeah, I mentioned that once or twice didn't I? Ok so the first month that I quit I did not gain any weight. The second month (just hit the 2-month mark on 05/26) I gained five pounds. FIVE pounds! WTF? That's insane... I'm so confused. Why did I gain weight in the second month and not the first? I thought I was in a smooth sailin' mode! Aaargh... I'll just have to cut my chocolate consumption down to just 1 lb per day instead of the 5 I've grown accustomed to...Dang it.
  23. Good stuff, guys! I actually went to see AC/DC in concert when I was in high school...
  24. I know - it was funny with the science project - I think all the parents were wondering how we did! =) Psychology, Counseling and Cognitive Behavior Therapy sound very cool. Very interesting. I envy you!
