  1. Hi, and welcome! We look forward to hearing more from you...
  2. Woah! That's a lotta work. Good thing for me there's Curves. Relatively easy stuff, and it takes about 30 minutes. It will probably take me longer to get to where I want to be, but I think if I did Kristin's schedule I'd drop out after, say, 45 minutes. Great job! Keep up the good work, everyone...
  3. Hi, and welcome! Bobby - that's cute!
  4. Alright, glad you're with us Siobha! Thanks for the support, Talon. Lets give 'em hell, girls! (The extra pounds, that is!)
  5. I kept a large supply of popsicle sticks around when Klaus was a baby. Whenever the chewing became annoying I handed him a stick. And, Klaus ended up winning the shoulder war. He's on my shoulder all the time. What can I say, he wore me down!
  6. Hi, and welcome! That's funny - I call my bird "Boo" sometimes as a nickname...
  7. I don't know of any major differences between males & females. But I wanted to welcome you, and compliment you on your English. You are doing great! Trust me, some of the Americans & Brits on here don't have perfect English, either! LOL
  8. Hi, and welcome! You are in the right place for friendly people and great info on greys. Don't be shy with any questions you might have (no such thing as a dumb one here) - we LOVE to gab about greys!
  9. Ok, it was weigh-and-measure day today! (Ack, the day after Easter and the Great Chocolate Binge of 2008.) Can I get a drum roll please? Thank you. I lost 3# and another inch overall!!! Woo-hoo! I guess I didn't do too much damage celebrating Easter!
  10. Hi, and welcome! Are you taking French classes?
  11. Hey, Judy! You know you're my favorite. Don't tell the others, ok? Congrats!
  12. I woke up this morning to kids finding hidden eggs, and my breakfast consisted of some Reese's and one rather large chocolate-covered marshmallow egg. Mmmm... I'll have to slip Klaus a little egg and also make his fave oatmeal w/baby food sweet potatoes for his Easter treat!
  13. I kind of speed-read the responses and didn't see anything about 2-3 hours being enough time out and fully interacting with the household. In my experience, that's good. That's about what Klaus gets and he's a pretty happy birdie.
  14. klaus is a kool name kinda like sandy klaus[nightmare before christmas] i used to love that film when i was younger. hope the cuddles carry on Oooh, I love the Nightmare Before Christmas, too. Klaus is actually named after Klaus Baudelaire from "A Series of Unfortunate Events."
  15. That's hilarious! Klaus is terrified of big boxes. We are re-doing my son's room and I'm doing a wainscot in there. The only way I could get the materials I wanted was to order on line. So, the other day when I was at work, FedEx brought the wainscot in 5 big boxes. My bro-in-law said that Klaus freaked out at those big boxes and didn't calm down until the scary things were carried down to the basement 'til we get the painting done and we're ready to install it.
  16. Klaus is just over a year and is still pretty much a "velcro" bird. Will not get off me when I'm home. Sometimes I wish he would mature a little faster - having a bird constantly stuck to you is a little tiring at times. I'll probably regret saying that, though, because the day will come he'll barely let me touch him and I'll miss cuddling! So, that's not a "yes" or "no" answer, but I think each bird has its own personality.
  17. All is well, thanks. Doing my favorite after-work zone-out activity - (the forum). With Klaus on my shoulder, fixing my hair just the way he likes it!
  18. Aw, how sweet! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Hi, Smithie! Your best bet will be to spend a good long time reading posts here...tons of great info! Also consider purchasing a book on greys - there are lots out there & come in handy. The biggest piece of advice I would give would be to practice a lot of patience with your new bird. They live a long time, so for them to take a month getting used to something is really not a long time at all. Be quiet and gentle with your bird. When looking at him, look at him sideways, narrow your eyes and lower your head a little. This makes you appear friendly. When approaching with your hands, come in from the side/back (a front/top approach can seem threatening). Those are the best tips I've picked up and they all work for me. Best of luck to you ... we look forward to hearing all about it!
  20. Mister DaveE! What's happenin'? Groovy? Far out... Welcome!
  21. Love the macaroni picture, too! Substitute a grey in there and you've got Klaus. He's convinced that my food is his food, and it's not just for eating! LOL
